Garden Mountain Cluster

Burkes Garden Central Lutheran Church, listed as Burkes Garden Central Church and Cemetery, is a historic Lutheran church, cemetery, and national historic district located at Burke's Garden, Tazewell County, Virginia. The church was built in 1875, and is a plain rectangular frame building, two bays long, with a steep gable roof. It originally served multiple denominations as a union church but has exclusively served the Lutheran denomination in modern times. The community was an outpost of German immigrants who settled in the backcountry frontier in the late 18th century. The cemetery was founded in 1827, and contains a notable collection of sandstone Germanic gravestones. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

Garden Mountain Wilderness is a U.S. wilderness area in the Eastern Divide Ranger District of the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests. It is a small wilderness area in western Virginia, consisting of an area of 3,331 acres (13.48 km2) and bordering the Beartown and Hunting Camp Creek Wilderness. It was designated as wilderness area in 2009 by Omnibus Public Land Management Act of 2009. The wilderness area also borders a portion of the Appalachian Trail. The Appalachian Trail passes along the ridge of Garden Mountain through a large stand of old-growth forest with an occasional glimpse of Burkes Garden, a valley formed when a large dome eroded leaving the valley surrounded by a ridge of mountains. Garden Mountain was part of the ancient dome. The area is part of the Garden Mountain Cluster.

Sharon Lutheran Church and Cemetery is a historic Lutheran church and cemetery located near Ceres, Bland County, Virginia. The church was built in 1883, and is a one-story, frame church, four bays long, with round-arched, stained-glass windows and a gable roof. It features a projecting square tower with a bell-cast pyramidal roof and cross finial on the entrance facade. The adjacent cemetery was established in 1817, and includes a collection of rare Germanic gravestones which are stylistically related to those found in the outlying churches of the Wythe County German settlements. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

The Lynn Camp Creek Wilderness Study Area, a 3226-acre site in the Eastern Divide Ranger District of the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests, was designated a wilderness study area by the Omnibus Public Lands Act of 2009. Lying in a deep valley between Brushy Mountain and Lynn Camp Mountain, the area is remote with a section of the Appalachian Trail that is rarely visited. The area is part of the Garden Mountain Cluster.

The Hunting Camp Creek Wilderness is an area protected by the Eastern Wilderness Act of Congress to maintain its present, natural condition. As part of the wilderness system, it helps to preserve a variety of natural life forms and contributes to a diversity of plant and animal gene pools. Over half of the ecosystems in the United States exist within designated wilderness. Traversed by the Appalachian Trail, the wilderness spans two remote watersheds, giving the trail one of its wildest stretches in the southern Appalachians with an abundance of wildflowers and birdlife. The area is part of the Garden Mountain Cluster.

Beartown Wilderness Addition B, a wildland in the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests of western Virginia, has been recognized by the Wilderness Society as a special place worthy of protection from logging and road construction. The Wilderness Society has designated the area as a "Mountain Treasure". The area. adjacent to the Beartown Wilderness, is proposed as an addition to the wilderness. The Forest Service classifies about 82 percent of the area as having high scenic integrity. It is easily accessed on a section of the Appalachian Trail, passing along a ridge with excellent views of Burke’s Garden. The area is part of the Garden Mountain Cluster.

Beartown Wilderness is a U.S. wilderness area in the Eastern Divide Ranger District of the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests. The Wilderness consists of 5,613 acres (22.72 km2) of land with elevations ranging from 2,400 to 4,800 feet (730 to 1,460 m). It was created from existing National Forest lands in 1984 by the Virginia Wilderness Act of 1984. With its remote location, steep terrain and thick vegetation, the wilderness is rarely visited. It contains a unique combination of fast flowing streams, rare old-growth communities, sphagnum bogs and outstanding views. The area is part of the Garden Mountain Cluster.

Alexander St. Clair House, also known as the Peery House, is a historic home located near Bluefield, Virginia, Tazewell County, Virginia. It was built about 1878 for local resident Alexander St. Clair, and is a large two-story, three-bay, brick I-house dwelling with a two-story rear ell. The roof is sheathed in patterned tin shingles. The front facade features a one-bay Italianate style portico with a second floor balustrade. Associated with the main house are five contributing buildings and two contributing structures. The home was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
