Bona Allen Mansion

The John Quincy Allen House is a historic residence in Buford, Georgia. Its architectural style is described as Georgian Revival architecture. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. It is located at 345 East Main Street.Its Georgian Revival details include a Palladian portico with flower basket-and-garlands relief. It was home of John Quincy Allen (1880–1967), one of five children of Bona Allen, Sr. (1846–1925), builder of the Bona Allen Company. It was one of seven Allen family homes along the railroad that runs through the center of Buford, linking to the expansive Bona Allen Shoe and Horse Collar Factory.

The Bona Allen Shoe and Horse Collar Factory, is a historic business location in Buford, Georgia. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on January 3, 2005. It is located at 554 West Main Street. It was the main factory building of the Bona Allen Company.

Its transmitter is off Radio Park Drive in Buford, near Interstate 985. WLKQ-FM broadcasts in the HD Radio hybrid format. Its HD2 subchannel carries a Christian Contemporary music format known as The JOY FM. Its programming is also heard on FM translator station W223CQ at 92.5 MHz in Lawrenceville.

Rest Haven is a town primarily in northern Gwinnett and partly in southern Hall counties in the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2010 census, it had a total population of 62. Rest Haven is located along Georgia State Route 13, a highway from Atlanta to Gainesville that is immediately west of Interstate 985. The Gwinnett County portion of Rest Haven is part of the Atlanta–Sandy Springs–Marietta, GA-AL Metropolitan Statistical Area, while the Hall County portion is part of the Gainesville, GA Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Buford is a city in Gwinnett and Hall counties in the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 17,144. Most of the city is in Gwinnett County, which is part of the Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta Metropolitan Statistical Area. The northern sliver of the city is in Hall County, which comprises the Gainesville, Georgia Metropolitan Statistical Area and is part of the larger Atlanta-Athens-Clarke-Sandy Springs Combined Statistical Area. The city was founded in 1872 after a railroad was built in the area connecting Charlotte, North Carolina, with Atlanta. Buford was named after Algernon Sidney Buford, who at the time was president of the Atlanta and Richmond Air-Line Railway. The city's leather industry, led by the Bona Allen Company, as well as its location as a railway stop, caused the population to expand during the early 1900s until after the Great Depression had ended. The city operates its own school district, the Buford City School District, and has been the birthplace and home of several musicians and athletes. Various tourist locations, including museums and community centers, the largest mall in the state of Georgia, the Mall of Georgia, and Lake Lanier Islands are in the Buford region.

Sugar Hill is a city in northern Gwinnett County in the U.S. state of Georgia, included within the Metro Atlanta area. The population was 25,076 as of the 2020 census, making it the fourth-largest city in Gwinnett County. It is in close proximity to Lake Lanier and the foothills of the North Georgia mountains.

Lanier High School (LHS) is a public high school in Sugar Hill, Georgia, United States, and is a part of Gwinnett County Public Schools. It opened for classes on August 9, 2010. The Lanier school district is made up of Sycamore Elementary School, White Oak Elementary School, Sugar Hill Elementary School, Lanier Middle School, and Lanier High School.The athletic rivals of the LHS Longhorns are the Bulldogs of North Gwinnett High School. Lanier High School was football regional champion in the 2014–2015 school year. Other sports recognitions they have received are 1st place in competition cheer (2014-2015), 2nd place Marching Band (2013-2014), 3rd place Marching Band (2014-2015), 1st place Drumline (2013-2015), 1st place Drum Major (2013-2015) 3rd place Color Guard (2013-2014), 2nd place Color Guard (2014-2015), One Act theater regional champions (2015-2016) and boys' soccer Region 8-AAAAA Champions (2015-2016).

The Bowman-Pirkle House is a historic two-story log house in Buford, Georgia. It was built in 1818 for John Bowman, who served under General Andrew Jackson during the First Seminole War of 1816–1819. The house was built with the help of Cherokees as a token of the friendship between Bowman and Chief Major Ridge. According to Elizabeth Z. Macgregor of the Georgia State Commission, "this house is probably one of the earliest structures built and occupied by whites in this Indian territory." In 1890, it was acquired by Bowman's daughter Amanda and her husband, Noah Pirkle, who had served in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War of 1861–1865. It was inherited by their descendants, who kept it in the family until 1969. In 1977s, Golden Pirkle gave it to the Hall County Historical Society. The house was returned to Bowman descendants around 2003.
