Goldcliff, Newport

St Mary Magdalene's Church stands in the village of Goldcliff, to the southeast of the city of Newport, Wales. An active parish church and a Grade II listed building, it is situated directly behind the Farmer's Arms public house.

Goldcliff Priory was a Benedictine monastery in Goldcliff, Newport, South Wales. It was established in 1113 by Robert de Chandos as a subsidiary house of the Abbey of Bec in Normandy. The priory was built on a coastal site, now the land of Hill Farm. In the 1950s, the Monmouthshire writer Hando noted the outlines of buildings visible as grass patterns or crop marks, but by the 1970s the only remaining structural element was part of a cellar in the farm house.Royal Commission aerial photography in 2010 found evidence of the foundations of a large structure consisting of a central block with wings, measuring 37 metres (121 ft) by 11 metres (36 ft), and set adjacent to a bivallate earthwork enclosure.

Whitson is a village on the outskirts of the city of Newport, South Wales. It is located about 7 miles (11 km) south east of Newport city centre on the Caldicot Levels, a large area of coastal land reclaimed from the sea. Administratively, Whitson is part of the community of Goldcliff.

Llanwern is the name of an electoral ward for Newport City Council in south Wales. It covers several rural communities to the east of the city. It is represented by one city councillor.

Glan Llyn is the name of a mixed-use community development, to the south-east of Newport, South Wales, at the western end of the former Llanwern steelworks, on the A4810 road at the edge of the Caldicot Levels.

Llanwern is a community in the eastern part of the City of Newport, South East Wales. Llanwern is bounded by the M4 and Langstone to the north, Ringland, Lliswerry and the River Usk to the west, the River Severn to the south and the city boundary to the east. The population of the Llanwern community in 2011 was 333, which contains Llanwern village and the western half of the site of Llanwern steelworks. The area is governed by the Newport City Council. The community population dropped to 289 in 2011. The community also includes the area of Glan Llyn.

Nash (Welsh: Trefonnen) is a village and community to the south of the city of Newport, South Wales, in the Lliswerry ward.

The Church of St Mary the Virgin, Nash is the parish church of the village of Nash, situated about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) south of the city of Newport, Wales. Described as "the cathedral of the moors" by Monmouthshire historian Fred Hando, the large church is medieval in origin, with additions and restorations dating from the 18th and 19th centuries. Newman describes the 15th-century steeple as "unique in South East Wales". Since 3 January 1963 it has been designated a Grade I listed building primarily due to its "medieval tower with fine spire."

Hayley Stadium was a purpose-built motorcycle speedway located at Queensway Meadows on the eastern side of Newport, Wales. The stadium was 311 yards (284 m) long, and home to the Newport Wasps speedway team.

CAF Newport is a rolling stock factory located at Celtic Business Park, near Llanwern steelworks in Newport. The site was announced as a train-building factory in 2016 and was producing rolling stock by 2018. It was officially opened by HRH Prince Charles on 21 February 2020.The factory is owned and operated by CAF Rolling Stock UK Ltd, a subsidiary of Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles (Spanish: Construction & Other Railway Services). CAF have to date built both DMUs and EMUs at the site.

Llanwern railway station is a former station serving Llanwern on the east side of the city of Newport.
