The Yoga Institute (abbreviated as TYI) is a government recognized non-profit organisation, known as the oldest organized yoga center in the world. It was founded in 1918 by Shri Yogendra (1897-1989), who was one of the important figures in the modern revival of yoga. It is headquartered at Santacruz in Mumbai, India.The Yoga Institute is certified by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India as the first authorized Yoga School to conduct government certified courses. It won the Prime Minister's Award 2018 by the Ministry of AYUSH for outstanding contribution in the field of Yoga in June 2018.The institute is run by Dr. Hansa Yogendra, who also serves as President of The International Board of Yoga. Hansa was appointed as Special Executive Officer by the Government of Maharashtra on 20 June 2011.

Khar (Marathi pronunciation: [kʰaːɾ]) is an affluent suburb of Mumbai, north of Bandra and south of Santacruz, Mumbai. Originally one of the 'villages' that made up the larger Bandra, the present suburb is divided into Khar West and Khar East areas. Khar, which is derived from the word Khāra (meaning 'salty' in the local language Marathi) has acquired this name in reference to the salt pans that were used to farm salt by locals near the Khar Danda sea shore a couple of centuries ago. Here, one also finds the historic fishing village of "Khar Danda", which is one of the villages that made up the original Bandra area and is also one of the oldest settlements of Mumbai.

Japan Air Lines Flight 472 was a flight from London to Tokyo via Frankfurt, Rome, Beirut, Tehran, Bombay, Bangkok and Hong Kong. On September 24, 1972, the flight landed at Juhu Aerodrome near Bombay, India instead of the city's much larger Santacruz Airport (now Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport) and overran the runway, resulting in the aircraft being written off after being damaged beyond economic repair.

Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (Hindi: मौलिक विज्ञान प्रकर्ष केंद्र) (or UM-DAE CEBS) is an autonomous institute with an affiliation to the University of Mumbai. It was set up in the University of Mumbai by the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) in collaboration with the university . This institute offers undergraduate science education and research opportunities. It aims at improving the quality of basic science education in the country at the undergraduate level and developing a pool of scientists for the various scientific works of the country. The Institute was inaugurated on 17 September 2007 by Dr R. Chidambaram, Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India. In 2016, the institution was granted the status of "Aided Institution" under the Department of Atomic Energy by the Government of India.Dr. Vimal Kumar Jain took over as the Director of UM-DAE Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences on 18 October 2017 (AN). The founding director of the institute was Prof. Deepak Mathur, Distinguished Professor and former Dean of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai. The second Director of the institute was Prof. Ramakrishna V. Hosur who was also a Senior Professor (Chemical Sciences) at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research and was, in 2014, awarded Padmashree by the Government of India.
