Blackbird is an unincorporated community in New Castle County, Delaware, United States. Blackbird is located at the intersection of U.S. Route 13 and Blackbird Station Road, southeast of Townsend. The Blackbird State Forest is nearby.The community was originally a stagecoach stop along the King's Highway and was settled around a mill at the head of the Blackbird Creek. The name is believed to have originally been Blackbeard after the pirate Blackbeard, who, according to tradition, used the lower part of the Blackbird Creek as a harbor and stored booty along its banks.

It was built in 1847, and is a two-story, brick meeting house measuring 40 feet by 60 feet. It is surrounded by a cemetery. The congregation was organized in 1789. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

Blackbird State Forest is a 6,000-acre (24 km2) state forest of Delaware located in New Castle County and Kent County, north of Smyrna. The ten tracts of Blackbird State Forest feature 40 mi (64 km) of trails and are open to the public year-round for walking, hiking, running, cycling, and horseback riding. The Tybout Tract features a 2,200-foot (670 m), wheelchair-accessible wildlife and nature interpretation trail. Other permitted activities include hunting, fishing, picnicking, and primitive camping. Long-range management plans for Blackbird State Forest outline goals for timber production, wildlife habitat, recreation, soil and water protection, wetland and endangered species protection, and public education.Educational programs are available at the Blackbird State Forest Education Center on the Meadows Tract. Complementing a center at Redden State Forest, the facility has two meeting spaces and interactive displays: The Life Cycle of a Forest, Tree Identification, Invasive Species, Urban/Community Forestry, and Wildland Firefighting. Visitors can see a diorama of a beaver pond, a working beehive, and exotic and native insects. Work has also begun on a new nature trail, demonstration saw mill, and arboretum.

Townsend house (c. 1840), Winfield Cottage (c. 1870), school (1932), and the former St. Mary's Episcopal Church.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

Huguenot House, also known as Homestead Farm and Naudain House, is a historic home located at Taylors Bridge, New Castle County, Delaware. Historical records from the 19th century suggest it was built about 1711 and certainly before 1725. It is a two-story, four bay brick dwelling with a gable roof. It has a 2-story, brick addition, which was at one time a separate kitchen. The house is being restored to its original state by its current owners.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

It was built about 1790, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, five-bay brick dwelling with interior brick chimneys at both gable ends. It has a gable roof with dormers. The house measures approximately 48 feet by 19 feet and has a center passage plan. It is in the Federal style.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.

Odessa High School is a public high school in unincorporated New Castle County, Delaware. It has a Townsend postal address, while its name refers to nearby Odessa. It is a part of the Appoquinimink School District. The ducks are the mascot. It is a part of the Fairview K-12 Campus, which is on a former corn field and also includes the Old State Elementary School and Spring Meadow Early Childhood Center. It shares its building with Cantwell's Bridge Middle School.
