Showgrounds railway station is located on the Flemington Racecourse line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the Melbourne Showgrounds in the suburb of Flemington. The station opened on 7 November 1883.The station is only used during special events at the Melbourne Showgrounds, such as the annual Royal Melbourne Show. Three signal boxes are located at Showgrounds, although the one included in a rostrum on the platform was decommissioned in 2014. There are several portable buildings providing staff amenities, and a wooden station building for selling rail tickets. Also located on the platform are turnstiles for entry to the Melbourne Showgrounds, and a Ticketek booking office for admission tickets to events there.

The venue has also been the selected site for TV and film production and is the current filming location for MasterChef Australia. It has previously been used for large music festivals – as of 2010, it plays host to Stereosonic until the Festivals end in 2015. It also was used on the last show on The Police's Synchronicity Tour, their last world tour, before they re-united briefly to play three concerts for the Amnesty International A Conspiracy of Hope Tour and reuniting in the studio.

It is most notable for hosting the Melbourne Cup, which is the world's richest handicap and the world's richest 3200-metre horse race. The racecourse is situated on low alluvial flats, next to the Maribyrnong River. The area was first used for horse racing in March 1840.

Moonee Ponds Junction is a bus and tram interchange on the junction of Ascot Vale Road / Pascoe Vale Road and Mount Alexander Road in Moonee Ponds, Melbourne (Puckle Street / Dean Street also meets at the same point). It is located approximately 400 metres east of Moonee Ponds station. In June 2015, Yarra Trams revealed plans to build a covered tram stop. The work was completed in January 2016.
