The California Department of Education Headquarters (CDEH), known also as Block 225, is a component of the Capitol Area East End Complex in Sacramento, CA. The building achieved a LEED Silver rating in 1999, and later achieved LEED Gold in 2003, only the second LEED Gold building in California at the time. Following a further cultivation in operations and maintenance, the building eventually achieved a LEED EB Platinum rating, the second largest EB Platinum rating in the world.

The Thomas Jefferson School is a historic elementary school building located in Sacramento, California designed in the Tudor Revival style. Designed by Sacramento School District’s Architectural and Engineering Commission Chairman E.C. Hemmings and James S. Dean of local architecture firm Dean & Dean, and built by Robert Trost.

The Westminster Presbyterian Church, located at 13th St. and N Street in Sacramento, California, was built in 1927. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.It was deemed significant for its architecture. The Presbyterian church was designed in "Spanish Eclectic" style with Byzantine influences as in the Hagia Sophia, by Sacramento architects Dean and Dean. It has a bell tower and tiled dome. It is constructed of reinforced concrete with stucco covering and decorations made of pre-cast cement.Westminster Presbyterian Church is listed as an American Presbyterian and Reformed Historical Site No. 373 by the Presbyterian Historical Society.

A statue of Junípero Serra in Capitol Park, near the California State Capitol, in Sacramento, California, was installed from 1967 until 2020. The statue was put in storage after demonstrators toppled it during a racial justice protest. In August 2021, legislators passed a bill to replace the statue with a monument to local Indigenous nations. The bill needs the signature of the governor to become law.

16th Street is a side platformed Sacramento RT Light Rail station in Downtown Sacramento, California, United States. The station was opened on September 5, 1987, and is operated by the Sacramento Regional Transit District. Located at 16th Street between Q and R Streets (in an alley), it is served by the Gold and Blue Lines and is the easternmost station where transfers can be made between both rail lines. With a daily average of 7,100 riders, the 16th Street station is the busiest in the RT light rail system.

On September 5, 1975, Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme, a member of the Manson Family cult, attempted to assassinate United States president Gerald Ford in Sacramento, California. She wanted to make a statement to people who refused to halt environmental pollution and its effects on air, trees, water, and animals (ATWA). Although Fromme stood a little more than an arm's length from Ford that Friday morning and pointed an M1911 pistol at him in the public grounds of the California State Capitol building, she had not chambered a round, the gun did not fire, and no one was injured. After the assassination attempt, Ford continued to walk to the California state house, where he met with Governor Jerry Brown. For her crime, Fromme spent 34 years in prison and was released on August 14, 2009 — two years and seven months after Ford's death. The Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum in Grand Rapids, Michigan, later received the M1911 pistol used in the assassination attempt as a gift, and the gun was put on display.

The California Transportation Commission (CTC) is an independent government transportation commission established in 1978. The CTC replaced and assumed the responsibilities of four prior independent agencies, the California Highway Commission, the State Transportation Board, the State Aeronautics Board, and the California Toll Bridge Authority. The CTC is headquartered in Sacramento. The CTC consists of 11 voting commissioners and two non-voting ex officio members. Of the 11 voting commissioners, nine are appointed by the Governor, one is appointed by the Senate Rules Committee, and one is appointed by the Speaker of the Assembly. As of August 2017, the chair is Bob Alvarado and the vice chair is Fran Inman. Other commissioners include Yvonne B. Burke, Lucetta Dunn, James Earp, James C. Ghielmetti, Carl Guardino, Christine Kehoe, James Madaffer, Joseph Tavaglione, and Paul Van Konynenburg. The two ex officio non-voting members are appointed from the State Senate and State Assembly. The current ex officio members are Senator Jim Beall and Assembly Member Jim Frazier. The executive director is Susan Bransen.The CTC mission statement, adopted May 19, 2010, is as follows: The California Transportation Commission is an independent public agency dedicated to ensuring a safe, financially sustainable, world-class multimodal transportation system that reduces congestion, improves the environment, and facilitates economic development through the efficient movement of people and goods. The CTC is responsible for many aspects of transportation planning, funding, and management. The primary responsibilities of the CTC include: Programs and allocates federal and state funds for the construction of highway, passenger rail, transit, bicycle, pedestrian, aeronautics, and environmental enhancement mitigation improvements throughout California. Adopts estimates of funding expected to be available for various transportation programs. Adopts guidelines for the development of CTC administered programs as well as state and regional transportation plans. Advises and assists the California State Transportation Agency and the Legislature in formulating and evaluating state policies and plans for transportation issues in California. Actively participates in the initiation and development of state and federal legislation in matters concerning transportation issues in California.

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is an executive department of the U.S. state of California. The department is part of the cabinet-level California State Transportation Agency (CalSTA). Caltrans is headquartered in Sacramento.Caltrans manages the state's highway system, which includes the California Freeway and Expressway System, supports public transportation systems throughout the state and provides funding and oversight for three state-supported Amtrak intercity rail routes (Capitol Corridor, Pacific Surfliner and San Joaquins) which are collectively branded as Amtrak California. In 2015, Caltrans released a new mission statement: "Provide a safe, sustainable, integrated and efficient transportation system to enhance California’s economy and livability."

SacAnime is a semi-annual three day anime convention held at the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center in Sacramento, California. The convention is the sister conventions to the Sacramento Comic, Toy and Anime Show (Sac-Con) and Bak-Anime.

The Sacramento Convention Center Complex is a complex of entertainment venues and a convention center located in downtown Sacramento, California. The complex consists of the SAFE Credit Union Performing Arts Center (formerly Community Center Theater), the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium, and the Jean Runyon Little Theater.

The Senator Hotel (officially Hotel Senator) (1924–1979) was a nine-story, 400-room Italian Renaissance-style hotel in Sacramento, California located at 12th and L streets across from the California State Capitol building that served as a nexus of California political and social activity for more than 50 years. Opened in 1924, the Senator Hotel was where Arthur Samish, one of the most influential and powerful individual lobbyists in the history of California, maintained a suite during the 1930s and 1940s. President Gerald Ford spent the night at the Senator Hotel before the September 5, 1975, assassination attempt on him by cultist Manson family disciple Squeaky Fromme. Although the Senator Hotel was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in May 1979, the hotel was closed two months later and shuttered with panels placed over the windows that same year. The structure was renovated and then reopened in 1983 as an office building under the name Senator Hotel Office Building, giving lobbyists short-walking-distance access to California's state politicians.

The California State Assembly is the lower house of the California State Legislature, the upper house being the California State Senate. The Assembly convenes, along with the State Senate, at the California State Capitol in Sacramento. The Assembly consists of 80 members, with each member representing at least 465,000 people. Due to a combination of the state's large population and a legislature that has not been expanded since the ratification of the 1879 Constitution, the Assembly has the largest population-per-representative ratio of any state lower house and second largest of any legislative lower house in the United States after the federal House of Representatives. Members of the California State Assembly are generally referred to using the titles Assemblyman (for men), Assemblywoman (for women), or Assemblymember (gender-neutral). In the current legislative session, Democrats enjoy a three-fourths supermajority of 62 seats, while Republicans control a minority of 18 seats.
