Donington le Heath

Donington le Heath Manor House Museum, now 'The 1620s House and Garden at Donington le Heath' is a surviving example of a manor house built over seven hundred years ago in Donington le Heath, near the town of Coalville, Leicestershire. It was once owned by a relative of one of the Gunpowder plotters, and is now managed by Leicestershire County Council. The Museum is accredited by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA)

Hugglescote and Donington le Heath is a civil parish in North West Leicestershire, England. It includes the villages of Hugglescote and Donington le Heath, each of which is about 1 mile (1.6 km) south of the centre of Coalville. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 4,446.The council consists of nine elected councillors who serve the whole parish.At its annual meeting, held in May each year, the council appoints a chairman and vice-chairman. The current chairman is Councillor Russell Johnson (Labour) and the current vice-chairman is Councillor Clark Robinson . Clockwise, from the north, it borders the unparished area of Coalville and the parishes of Ellistown and Battleflat, Ravenstone with Snibston and Ibstock.

Hugglescote railway station is a disused railway station on the former Ashby and Nuneaton Joint Railway. It served the large village of Hugglescote where it joined the Leicester - Burton line and Charnwood Forest Railway. It closed in 1931 to passengers but closed to parcel traffic in 1951. Goods continued to pass through until 1965 when the line was closed from Coalville to Shackerstone. The site has since been demolished and is now overgrown. It was briefly used for a conveyor but this has since been removed. The photograph shows the site of the station yard, the station was immediately behind this point of view.

Hugglescote is a village on the River Sence in North West Leicestershire, England. The village is about 1 mile (1.6 km) south of the centre of Coalville, and its built-up area is now contiguous with the town. Hugglescote and Donington le Heath were part of the parish of Ibstock until 1878, when they were formed into a separate civil parish. Against local belief, Hugglescote is not classed as Coalville. The civil parish of Hugglescote and Donington le Heath was reinstated by an order made in May 2010, and the new parish council held its first meeting in May 2011.

Snibston Grange is a 3.2 hectare Local Nature Reserve on the western outskirts of Coalville in Leicestershire. It is owned and managed by Leicestershire County Council.This was formerly the garden of the local colliery manager, and is now part of Snibston Country Park. It has two fishing lakes, a Victorian arboretum with a wide variety of mature trees, a wetland area and a wildflower meadow.There is access by footpaths from Coalville and Ravenstone.

North West Leicestershire is a local government district in Leicestershire, England. The council is based in Coalville, the area's largest town. The district also contains the towns of Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Ashby Woulds and Ibstock, along with numerous villages and surrounding rural areas. The district contains East Midlands Airport. Castle Donington is notable as the location of Donington Park, a grand-prix circuit and a major venue for music festivals. The area has a long history of mineral extraction, with coal, brick clay, gravel and granite amongst the products. All the deep coal mines in the area have closed, but opencast mining still continues. The neighbouring districts are Charnwood, Hinckley and Bosworth, North Warwickshire, Lichfield, South Derbyshire, Erewash and Rushcliffe.

Coalville Town Football Club is a football club based in Coalville, Leicestershire, England. They are currently members of the Southern League Premier Division Central and play at the Owen Street Sports Ground.

Snibston Colliery Ground was a cricket ground in Coalville, Leicestershire. The land for the cricket ground was originally set aside for the miners at Snibston Colliery. Snibston Colliery was used as an outground by Leicestershire following the Second World War, with the county first playing there against Glamorgan in 1957 County Championship. Leicestershire player there intermittently until 1982, playing eight first-class matches there, plus a single List A one-day match against Glamorgan in the 1970 John Player League. The loss of first-class cricket at Snibston Colliery coincided with a downturn in fortune of the colliery. Snibston Grange Cricket Club continued to play at and maintain the ground, with Coalville Town F.C. moving to part of the ground in 1995 and establishing their Owen Street Sports Ground there. The cricket club folded in 2013, leaving Coalville Town F.C. as the sole tenant of the site.

The Emporium is a club located in Coalville, Leicestershire established under that name in 1995. Passion was launched in 1995 by the then club owners Mark Walsh and Eric Schofield, when the club was known as Crystals. Chris Hall, a London promoter who had helped set up Club UK, suggested changing the name to the Emporium and starting a dance night called ‘Passion’: he booked Todd Terry to headline the first ever event. JFK played the first ever record at Passion: the night ran from 9pm-2am, initially in one room, with a sound system being hired as the club's own system could not take the music. Around 700 people turned up on the first night and Passion was born. In 2004, JFK, who had been resident DJ, gave up his residency to further his DJ career elsewhere, although he continued to DJ there. In 2006 he returned after almost 2 years away from the club, becoming involved with the promotion and running of the club once again.In January 2012 Passion ran a classics night playing trance music, which was almost a sell out. The DJ line up was made up of names from past and present that have played a part in its history: A mixture of old and new residents along with cutting edge new talent. Room 2 saw the return of Red Room Sessions and its famous residents Nick Correlli (MYNC Project) and DJ Canete. The club closed in 2013, but re-opened in 2017

Ellistown is a village about 2 miles (3 km) south of Coalville in North West Leicestershire, England. It is named after Colonel Joseph Joel Ellis who died in 1885. The population from the 2011 census was included in the civil parish of Ellistown and Battleflat. The village has a community primary school, two village shops and a hairdressing salon. A working men's club, Ellistown F.C. football club and five play parks. Ellistown is just within the eastern boundary of the National Forest.

Coalville Town was a railway station at Coalville in Leicestershire on the Leicester to Burton upon Trent Line. Passenger business was carried out at the "Railway Hotel" when the line opened in 1833 until the first Coalville station was opened by the Midland Railway in 1848, replaced in 1894 and closed in 1964, although the line remains in use for freight.

Snibston is an area and former civil parish east of Ravenstone, now in the parish of Ravenstone with Snibstone, in the North West Leicestershire district, in the county of Leicestershire, England. Originally rural, part of Snibston was transformed into a coal mining village by the opening of coal mines by the Snibston Colliery Company in the early 1830s. This industrial part of Snibston was subsequently subsumed into the developing town of Coalville, though small rural areas of Snibston survive within the civil parishes of Ravenstone with Snibston and Hugglescote and Donington le Heath. In the part of Snibston within the latter civil parish stands the 13th-century church of St Mary, noted as the smallest church still in use for regular worship in England. The main Snibston Colliery was sunk in 1831, and after its closure the Snibston Country Park with the Snibston Discovery Museum (now closed) was built on part of the colliery site. Part of the park is Snibston Grange Local Nature Reserve.
