College of Charleston Baseball Stadium at Patriots Point is a baseball venue located in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. It is home to the College of Charleston Cougars baseball team, a member of the Division I Colonial Athletic Association. The venue is located across Charleston Harbor from the campus of the college. The field was constructed for the start of the 2001 season, adjacent to the College of Charleston soccer and softball fields. Since the ballpark opened in 2001, the Cougars have compiled a winning percentage of over .700.

Patriots Point Soccer Complex is a soccer venue located in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. It has been home to the College of Charleston Cougars soccer teams, member of the Division I Colonial Athletic Association, since its opening in fall 2000. Since the 2020 season, the venue has also hosted Charleston Battery of the USL Championship.The venue is located across Charleston Harbor from the campus of the college. The field was dedicated as Ralph Lundy Field on September 28, 2019, to honor long-time Cougars head coach Ralph Lundy.In conjunction with the arrival of USL Championship club Charleston Battery to the facility for the 2020 season, the stadium underwent a renovation which increased capacity to 3,900.

Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum is a naval museum located in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, at the mouth of the Cooper River on the Charleston Harbor, across from Charleston.

USS Laffey (DD-724) is an Allen M. Sumner-class destroyer, which was constructed during World War II, laid down and launched in 1943, and commissioned in February 1944. The ship earned the nickname "The Ship That Would Not Die" for her exploits during the D-Day invasion and the Battle of Okinawa when she successfully withstood a determined assault by conventional bombers and the most unrelenting kamikaze air attack in history. Today, Laffey is a U.S. National Historic Landmark and is preserved as a museum ship at Patriots Point, outside Charleston, South Carolina.Laffey was the second ship of the United States Navy to be named for Bartlett Laffey. Seaman Laffey was awarded the Medal of Honor for his stand against Confederate forces on 5 March 1864.

USS Yorktown (CV/CVA/CVS-10) is one of 24 Essex-class aircraft carriers built during World War II for the United States Navy. Initially to have been named Bonhomme Richard, she was renamed Yorktown while still under construction, after the Yorktown-class aircraft carrier USS Yorktown (CV-5), which was sunk at the Battle of Midway. She is the fourth U.S. Navy ship to bear the name, though the previous ships were named for 1781 Battle of Yorktown. Yorktown was commissioned in April 1943, and participated in several campaigns in the Pacific Theater of Operations, earning 11 battle stars and the Presidential Unit Citation. Decommissioned shortly after the end of the war, she was modernized and recommissioned in February 1953 as an attack carrier (CVA), and served with distinction during the Korean War. The ship was later modernized again with a canted deck, eventually becoming an anti-submarine carrier (CVS) and served for many years in the Pacific, including duty in the Vietnam War, during which she earned five battle stars. The carrier served as a recovery ship for the December, 1968, Apollo 8 space mission, the first crewed ship to reach and orbit the Moon, and was used in the 1970 film Tora! Tora! Tora!, which recreated the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, and in the 1984 science fiction film The Philadelphia Experiment. Yorktown was decommissioned in 1970 and in 1975 became a museum ship at Patriots Point, Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, where she was designated a National Historic Landmark.

USS Clamagore (SS-343) was a Balao-class submarine, which operated as a museum ship at the Patriot's Point Naval & Maritime Museum outside Charleston, South Carolina from 1979 to 2022. Built in 1945 for the United States Navy, she was still in training when World War II ended. She was named for the clamagore. A National Historic Landmark, she was the last surviving example of a GUPPY III type submarine. On 15 October 2022, the USS Clamagore, stripped of sail and superstructure was removed from Patriots Point and towed to Norfolk VA to begin final recycling.

The Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge (also known as the Ravenel Bridge and the Cooper River Bridge) is a cable-stayed bridge over the Cooper River in South Carolina, US, connecting downtown Charleston to Mount Pleasant. The bridge has a main span of 1,546 feet (471 m), the third longest among cable-stayed bridges in the Western Hemisphere. It was built using the design–build method and was designed by Parsons Brinckerhoff.

Shem Creek is a creek that runs through the city of Charleston and Town of Mount Pleasant in the U.S. state of South Carolina, and empties to the Charleston Harbor. The creek's waterfront and boardwalk is a popular destination for restaurants, bars, and recreational activities. The creek is also home to a marina, public and private boating docks, a fisherman's dock, and fish markets.

Remley Point Cemetery (also known as Scanlonville Cemetery) is a cemetery located in the Scanlonville community in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. It contains 41 marked graves ranging from 1867 to 1989, but residents claim there may be over 1,000 people, largely African American, buried there. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2p02.In 1999, the 3-acre cemetery was purchased by Tom and Victoria Rogers, who planned to use the property as part of a larger homestead. In 2001, the Rogers filed to relocate the graves so that they could build their home, but withdrew the request when residents of Scanlonville sued to block the relocation. Following a renewal of that request, in 2005 a judge ruled that the historical cemetery could not be developed.

CSS Charleston was a casemate ironclad ram built for the Confederate Navy (CSN) at Charleston, South Carolina during the American Civil War. Funded by the State of South Carolina as well as donations by patriotic women's associations in the city, she was turned over to the Confederate Navy and defended the city until advancing Union troops that threatened Charleston caused her to be destroyed in early 1865 lest she be captured. Her wreck was salvaged after the war and the remains have been obliterated by subsequent dredging.

The Wando River is a tidewater river in the coastal area of South Carolina. It begins in the town of Awendaw, Charleston County, and has its mouth at the Cooper River shortly before it flows into Charleston Harbor. The Wando's drainage area is 73,061 acres (295.67 km2). Nearby Drum Island is uninhabited. It is spanned by the bridges crossing the Wando River and Towne creek.The river was named for the Wando people, a band of the Cusabo.

Charleston Dry Dock & Machine Company (renamed Charleston Drydock and Shipbuilding Co. in the late-1930s) was a shipyard located in Charleston, South Carolina, on the Cooper River. The shipyard is significant for its contribution to marine engineering, including the first entirely-welded commercial ship built in the United States. It was owned and operated by Leland Louis Green who was the first registered naval architect in South Carolina.
