East Forsyth High School is a newly constructed high school in northeastern Forsyth County, Georgia. Forsyth County Schools District hosted the grand opening of East Forsyth High School on July 14, 2021, at 10:30 am. The high school was built to relieve overcrowding in the district's North Forsyth High School and Forsyth Central High School. The school has been in development for more than a decade as of 2019. Forsyth County Schools officially broke ground on the project on May 21, 2018, tweeting "What a beautiful day for the groundbreaking ceremony at East Forsyth HS! Our 7th traditional high school is projected to open fall 2021."Funds for the new school are to come from a $295,000,000 school bond approved by voters in May 2018. East Forsyth has an entirely new and unique career development program, not found in any of the other schools in the district, to further enhance the educational opportunities for students.In 2022, during the second school year since the school's founding, the principal, Jeff Cheney, was secretly recorded by a student and got caught saying the n-word, equating the word "cracker" to it. This caused an uproar in the community, leading him to leave the position that same school year.

Lake Lanier (officially Lake Sidney Lanier) is a reservoir in the northern portion of the U.S. state of Georgia. It was created by the completion of Buford Dam on the Chattahoochee River in 1956, and is also fed by the waters of the Chestatee River. The lake encompasses 38,000 acres (150 km2) or 59 sq mi (150 km2) of water, and 692 mi (1,114 km) of shoreline at normal level, a "full pool" of 1,071 ft (326 m) above mean sea level and the exact shoreline varies by resolution according to the coastline paradox. Named for poet Sidney Lanier, it was built and is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for flood control and water supplies. Its construction destroyed more than 50,000 acres (20,000 ha) of farmland and displaced more than 250 families, 15 businesses, and relocated 20 cemeteries along with their remains in the process.It is patrolled by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (GDNR), as well as local law enforcement. The states of Georgia, Alabama, and Florida all have rights to the water of the reservoir, as it feeds rivers going through those areas. The Corps of Engineers has responsibilities to regulate flow for flood control and water use. In addition, it has to ensure that water is available to fulfill such federal mandates as under the Endangered Species Act, to support downstream species. The rapid suburbanization of the Atlanta region, in particular, has greatly increased water consumption by private homeowners for lawns and gardens. During droughts of the 21st century, Lake Lanier reached record lows, and regional actions have been needed to reduce area water usage.

The Browns Bridge was a cantilever bridge in Georgia (U.S. state) carrying Georgia State Route 369 (Browns Bridge Road) across the Chattahoochee River / Lake Sidney Lanier between Gainesville and Cumming. It is just 35 miles northeast of Atlanta.

Chestatee is an unincorporated community in northeastern Forsyth County, Georgia, United States, due west of the confluence of the Chestatee River into the Chattahoochee River. Originally a Cherokee settlement, it was called Atsunsta Ti Yi. The word "Chestatee" is a Cherokee word meaning roughly "pine torch place" or "place of lights", because they would use bonfires along the riverbanks to light their torches. They would then use these torches for hunting deer and other wild game in the forest. A post office called Chestatee was established in 1880, and remained in operation until being discontinued in 1904.The Vann Ferry, owned by Cherokee Indian Chief Vann, is just east of Chestatee, on the road to Gainesville.

West Hall High School is a public high school located in the western portion of Hall County, Georgia, United States, in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. West Hall is located about 10 miles southwest of Gainesville City, 20 miles Southwest of Dahlonega, and around 40 miles northeast of Downtown Atlanta. The attendance boundary includes portions of Flowery Branch.

Cornerstone Schools is a group of private schools in Forsyth County, Georgia, United States, near Cumming. Established in 1999, the school group is located on a 30-acre wooded campus near Lake Lanier and Georgia Highway 400.The preschool building opened in 2000. In 2001 a competition outdoor swimming pool and cabana opened. In March 2003 the first elementary school building opened. In 2005 the second elementary and middle school building opened. In 2009 two athletic fields opened. In 2010 a new gym was built, which houses the school’s band and basketball team. As of 2010, the ground work for the new middle and high school building had been completed, however that site remains empty today.

Young Deer Creek is a stream in Forsyth County in the U.S. state of Georgia. It is a tributary to the Chattahoochee River. Young Deer Creek most likely is named after a local Cherokee Indian. A variant name is "Young Deers Creek".

Taylor Creek is a stream in Georgia, and is a tributary of the Chestatee River. The creek is approximately 3.66 miles (5.89 km) long.

Lanierland Music Park was a country music venue in the town of Cumming, Forsyth County, Georgia. The venue was opened in 1970 and hosted notable musical acts until 2006. The venue's land was then converted to Lanierland Park, a Forsyth County Parks and Recreation facility for community use.

Flowery Branch is a city in Hall County, Georgia, United States. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 9,391. It is part of the Gainesville, Georgia metropolitan area, and lies on the shores of Lake Lanier.

The Bowman-Pirkle House is a historic two-story log house in Buford, Georgia. It was built in 1818 for John Bowman, who served under General Andrew Jackson during the First Seminole War of 1816–1819. The house was built with the help of Cherokees as a token of the friendship between Bowman and Chief Major Ridge. According to Elizabeth Z. Macgregor of the Georgia State Commission, "this house is probably one of the earliest structures built and occupied by whites in this Indian territory." In 1890, it was acquired by Bowman's daughter Amanda and her husband, Noah Pirkle, who had served in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War of 1861–1865. It was inherited by their descendants, who kept it in the family until 1969. In 1977s, Golden Pirkle gave it to the Hall County Historical Society. The house was returned to Bowman descendants around 2003.

Flowery Branch High School is a four-year public high school located in Flowery Branch, Georgia, United States, operated by Hall County Schools. In 2007, Flowery Branch was voted Georgia's High School of Excellence. It is one of seven high schools in the district and enrolls about 1,600 students. The attendance boundary includes eastern portions of Flowery Branch. The school also serves areas with Buford postal addresses that are not in the Buford city limits.
