Bwlch-y-cibau

Bryngwyn Halt railway station is a disused station that was on the Llanfyllin Branch of the Cambrian Railways. It served the villages of Bwlch-y-cibau and Brynderwen between 1863 and 1965.

Allt-y-Main is a hamlet in the community of Meifod, Powys, Wales, which is 86 miles (139 km) from Cardiff and 156 miles (252 km) from London.

St Garmon's Church, Llanfechain, is in the village of Llanfechain, Powys, Wales. It is an active Anglican parish church in the deanery of Llanfyllin, the archdeaconry of Montgomery, and the diocese of St Asaph, and is designated by Cadw as a Grade II* listed building. The church is traditionally associated with a 9th-century Celtic saint, St Garmon. St Garmon was most likely St Germanus (410–474), the first Bishop of Man. It shares it name with the church in the village of St Harmon in Radnorshire (Powys), where the diarist Francis Kilvert was a curate.

Llanfechain is a village and community in Powys, Wales, on the B4393 road between Llanfyllin and Llansantffraid-ym-Mechain. Historically it belonged to Montgomeryshire. The River Cain runs through. The population of 465 at the 2011 Census was estimated at 476 in 2019.

The Battle of Mechain was fought in Powys, Wales, in 1070, for rule of the Welsh kingdoms of Gwynedd and Powys. A written account is included in the Brut y Tywysogion, the medieval Welsh chronicle of the princes. It is also referred to in the work of medieval poets such as Lewys Glyn Cothi. After the murder of Gruffydd ap Llywelyn, Harold Godwinson married his widow Ealdgyth and divided Gruffydd's realm into the traditional kingdoms of Gwynedd and Powys, the rule of which were given to Bleddyn ap Cynfyn and his brother Rhiwallon ap Cynfyn. Gruffydd left two sons— Maredudd and Idwal–who in 1070 challenged Bleddyn and Rhiwallon at Mechain in an attempt to win back part of their father's kingdom. However, both sons were defeated, Idwal (or Ithel) being killed in combat and Maredudd dying of exposure after the battle. Rhiwallon was also killed in this battle, leaving Bleddyn to rule Gwynedd and Powys alone.

The Lonely Tree was a Scots pine on a hill near Llanfyllin, Powys, Wales. Visible from much of the town it was a local landmark with several traditions attached to it. The tree was blown over during a storm in February 2014, and despite efforts to save it, the tree was found to be dead in June 2015. The tree was voted Welsh Tree of the Year for 2014 and finished tenth in the European Tree of the Year awards for 2015. Seventeen saplings have been planted nearby in the hope that one will grow to replace the tree.

Llanfechain railway station is a former station in Llanfechain, Powys, Wales. The station opened in 1865 and closed in 1965. The station site is now a private residence and the trackbed filled in to platform level.

Meifod, formerly also written Meivod (), is a small village, community and electoral ward 7 miles north-west of Welshpool in Montgomeryshire, Powys, Wales, on the A495 road and located in the valley of the River Vyrnwy. The River Banwy has a confluence with the Vyrnwy approximately two miles to the west of the village. The village itself had a population of 317. The community includes the village of Bwlch-y-cibau and the hamlet of Allt-y-Main.

Llanfyllin railway station is the former terminal station of the Llanfyllin Branch of Cambrian Railways, which served the town of Llanfyllin in Powys, Wales. The whole line opened from Llanymynech via Llansantffraid, Llanfechain and Bryngwyn in 1863, to enable access to the limestone quarries along the Llanfyllin valley. After leaving Llanymynech station, the LB crossed the Ellesmere Canal and travelled due west to Llanfyllin. The former CR mainline from Oswestry to Welshpool closed in 1965, and so also the branchline to Llanfyllin, under British Railways' Beeching Axe. The goods shed and station survive, albeit as part of the industrial estate which now occupies the old station site. The street leading to it is still called Station Road.

Aithnen is a small settlement in Powys, Wales. It is 10 kilometres (6 mi) southwest of the town of Oswestry.

Dogfeiling was a minor sub-kingdom and later a commote in north Wales. It formed part of the eastern border of the Kingdom of Gwynedd in early medieval Wales. The area was named for Dogfael, one of the sons of the first King of Gwynedd, Cunedda. It existed from 445 until sometime around the year 700 when it was re-absorbed back into Gwynedd proper.
