Menkhausen

Grimminghausen is a locality in the municipality Schmallenberg in the district Hochsauerlandkreis in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

Arpe is a river of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, in the West of the Hochsauerlandkreis. It is a left tributary of the Wenne which it joins at Niederberndorf, a district of Schmallenberg. It should not be confused with the Arpe, also left a tributary of the Wenne in the Hochsauerlandkreis, but joining at Berge, a district of Meschede.

In the village centre the river Arpe flows in the Wenne and the Kreisstraße 35 meets the Kreisstraße 32. Niederberndorn borders on the villages of Arpe, Landenbeckerbruch, Menkhausen, Mailar, Heiminghausen, Berghausen and Oberberndorf. The St. Blaise Chapel in the village center was first mentioned in 1402.

The village has 615 inhabitants and lies in the east of the municipality of Eslohe at a height of around 300 m. The river Wenne flows through the village. In the village centre the B 511 federal road meets the B 55. Just after the entrance to the village is the parish church of St. Anthony. The village used to belong to the municipality of Reiste in Amt Eslohe until the end of 1974. Bremke borders on the parishes of Eslohe, Frielinghausen and Reiste. The village lies at the junction of the B 55 and 511. From 1911 to 1994 Bremke even had a railway station, but passenger services on the Wenholthausen-Altenhundem railway were withdrawn by 1964.

The village has 221 inhabitants and lies in the north of the municipality of Schmallenberg at a height of around 394 m. In the village centre the Kreisstraße 25 meets the Kreisstraße 32. Berghausen borders on the villages of Ebbinghof, Wormbach, Oberberndorf, Niederberndorf and Heiminghausen. The St. Cyriakus Church in the village center was built around 1220. The village used to belong to the municipality of Berghausen in Amt Schmallenberg until the end of 1974.
