Pixley, Herefordshire

Trumpet or The Trumpet is a village in Herefordshire, England. The village is named after the timber-framed Trumpet Inn. The inn is located at a major crossroads of the A438 and A417/A4172 from where: the City of Hereford is 18 km (11 mi) to the west on the A438 Ledbury is 7 km (4.3 mi) to the east on the A438 Leominster is 28 km (17 mi) to the northwest initially on the A417 Gloucester is 32 km (20 mi) to the southeast initially on the A4172The half-timbered inn is said to be some 800 years old and so named from the obligation of coaches that passed by to blow their coach horns. The crossing must have been an important intersection of the Gloucester to Leominster and Tewkesbury to Hereford roads. Local agriculture includes the growing of hops and cider apples.

Preston is a village, former manor, civil and ecclesiastical parish in the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire, England. It is situated 22 km north-west of the city of Gloucester and 4 km south-west of the Herefordshire town of Ledbury. In 1931 the parish had a population of 77. On 1 April 1935 the parish of Preston, comprising 897 acres, was added to the parish of Dymock, adjacent at the south-east, the parish church of which, St Mary the Virgin, is situated 4 miles to the south-east. The parish church is dedicated to St John the Baptist. To the immediate west of the church is Preston Court, a grade II* listed timber-framed manor house dating from about 1600, in 2020 operating as "The Country House Collection" antique shop.

Canon Frome is a hamlet and small rural parish on the River Frome, 5 miles northwest of Ledbury, Herefordshire, England with a population of 139. Its most notable feature is Canon Frome Court which is a Grade II listed large red brick country house. The house was originally a sixteenth century moated manor house but was extensively rebuilt, incorporating earlier parts of the building, in 1786 and again in 1868. It was for 300 years the ancestral home of the Hopton family. It now forms a cohousing community.
