Cuggiono (Lombard: Cugiònn [kyˈdʒɔn]) is a small Italian town and comune in the Metropolitan City of Milan, 50 kilometres (31 mi) west of Milan on the Motorway A4 to Turin, gate of Marcallo-Mesero. American baseball player Yogi Berra's parents were from there. Italian singer and composer Angelo Branduardi was born there. Cuggiono is the sister city of Herrin, Illinois. Many Italians from Cuggiono, emigrated to Southern Illinois to work in the coal mines with hopes of the American Dream in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. They formed neighborhoods in towns throughout Southern Illinois. Cuggiono borders the following municipalities: Castano Primo, Buscate, Arconate, Robecchetto con Induno, Galliate, Mesero and Bernate Ticino.

Casate Ticino ("Casá", in the local dialect) is an Italian village in the municipality of Bernate Ticino, near Milan, in Lombardy. As of 2009 its population was of 1,100 circa.

As of 1 January 2014, it had a population of 4,822 and an area of 7.83 square kilometres (3.02 sq mi).It is the ancestral home of the Pisoni family. Buscate borders the following municipalities: Magnago, Dairago, Castano Primo, Arconate, Inveruno, Cuggiono.

The Battle of Magenta was fought on 4 June 1859 near the town of Magenta in the Kingdom of Lombardy–Venetia, a crown land of the Austrian Empire, during the Second Italian War of Independence. It resulted in a French-Sardinian victory under Napoleon III against the Austrians under Marshal Ferencz Gyulai. Napoleon III's army crossed the Ticino River and outflanked the Austrian right forcing the Austrian army under Gyulai to retreat. The confined nature of the country, a vast spread of orchards cut up by streams and irrigation canals, precluded elaborate manoeuvre. The Austrians turned every house into a miniature fortress. The brunt of the fighting was borne by 5,000 grenadiers of the French Imperial Guard, still mostly in their First Empire style of uniforms. The battle of Magenta was not a particularly large battle, but it was a decisive victory for the Franco-Sardinian alliance. Patrice de MacMahon was created Duke of Magenta for his role in this battle, and would later go on to serve as President of the French Third Republic.

The Battle of Parabiago was fought in February 1339 near Parabiago, in Lombardy, northern Italy, between the Milanese army and the St. George's (San Giorgio) Mercenaries of Lodrisio Visconti. A renowned condottiero, the latter was an exiled member of the Visconti family then in power in Milan with a kind of triumvirate formed by Azzone and his uncles, Luchino and Archbishop Giovanni Visconti. Aiming to return victoriously to his city, he hired some 2,500 knights, mainly from Germany, and 1,000 Swiss infantry which had fought in the unsuccessful war of Mastino II della Scala for the hegemony in northern Italy. These units were led by Werner von Urslingen and Konrad von Landau.

Magenta (Italian: Stazione di Magenta) is a railway station in the Italian town of Magenta. The station was opened on 18 June 1858 by the Austrian Empire, and is located on the Turin–Milan railway. The train services are operated by Trenitalia and Trenord. The station was the set of the battle of Magenta, which also gave the name to the Magenta station in Paris.
