Narrows, named for the narrowing of the New River that flows through the town, is a town in Giles County, Virginia, United States. The population was 2,029 at the 2010 census, a decline of 3.9% from the 2000 count of 2,111. It is part of the Blacksburg–Christiansburg Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The Narrows Commercial Historic District encompasses the historic commercial heart of Narrows, Virginia. It is centered at the intersection of Main and Monroe Streets and MacArthur Lane, near the confluence of Wolf Creek and the New River. The area's major development did not begin until after the arrival in 1882 of the railroad, with most of it taking place in the two decades before World War II. Major buildings include the 1927 Norfolk and Western Railroad depot and the 1940 General Macarthur Hotel.The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.

Narrows High School is a public high school in Narrows, Giles County, Virginia, United States that enrolls students from grades 8 through 12. As of 2022 the school has an enrollment of about 290 students.

The Angels Rest Cluster is a region in the Jefferson National Forest recognized by The Wilderness Society for its diversity of habitats with steep mountains, an isolated valley, a waterfall and wetlands. It is named after a high point on Pearis Mountain with views of the New River and surrounding area. It contains two large wild areas connected by the Appalachian Trail.

Andrew Johnston House is a historic home located at Pearisburg, Giles County, Virginia. The central block was built in 1829, and is a two-story, five-bay, central-passage plan, brick house over a low basement in the Federal style. It features a one-story, flat-roofed front portico topped by a balustrade and supported by two Ionic order and two Tuscan order columns. Also on the property is a small contributing outbuilding that was built as a doctor's office about 1857. The building houses the Giles County Historical Society, which uses it as a museum and research center.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.

It encompasses 18 contributing buildings and 1 contributing site in the town of Pearisburg, county seat of Giles County. The district is centered on the Public Square and includes a mix of commercial, institutional, and governmental buildings. Notable buildings include the First National Bank of Pearisburg (1906), Western Hotel (Thomas Building, c. 1827), Pearis Theater (1940), Giles County Sheriff's Office and Jail (1937–38), St. Elizabeth Hospital Building (1920), Giles County Motor Company Building (1923–1924), and Christ Episcopal Church (1910). The Giles County Courthouse is listed separately.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.

Giles County Courthouse is a historic county courthouse located at Pearisburg, Giles County, Virginia. The central block was built in 1836, and is a two-story, rectangular, brick building in the Federal style. It was originally T-shaped, but flanking wings were added soon after its original construction. It has a steep, hipped roof with a large octagonal cupola at its apex. A two-story portico was added about 1900, as was a two-story hyphen and three-story rear addition.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. It is located in the Pearisburg Historic District.

Airborne Express Flight 827 was a functional evaluation flight (FEF) of an Airborne Express Douglas DC-8-63F (registration N827AX) that had undergone a major modification. On December 22, 1996, during the test flight, the aircraft stalled and crashed, killing all six people on board. Accident investigators determined the cause of the accident was improper crew control inputs.

Shannon Cemetery is a historic cemetery located near Pearisburg, Giles County, Virginia. It consists of two discontiguous sections, a white section and a black section, located approximately a thousand feet apart at about 1,900 feet in elevation above sea level. The white (south) section was established in 1781 and contains a variety of grave markers including inscribed and uninscribed fieldstones, decoratively carved tombstones of indigenous stone and imported marble, concrete markers, and twentieth century granite monuments. The black (north) section was established in the 19th century and has small uninscribed fieldstone markers and one professionally carved marble headstone. The Shannon Cemetery is believed to be the oldest maintained cemetery in the county.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.
