Gründlach is a river of Bavaria, Germany. It flows into the Regnitz south of Erlangen.

The river Aurach begins in the Franconian Heights to the west of the village Klausaurach in the municipality of Markt Erlbach. It runs through Aurachtal, the town of Herzogenaurach, and the Erlangen district of Frauenaurach. After crossing under the Main-Danube Canal, it joins the river Regnitz at the Erlangen district of Erlangen-Bruck. A recreational cycle path runs alongside the river Aurach from Herzogenaurach to Erlangen.

The Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light (MPL) performs basic research in optical metrology, optical communication, new optical materials, plasmonics and nanophotonics and optical applications in biology and medicine. It is part of the Max Planck Society and was founded on January 1, 2009 in Erlangen near Nuremberg. The institute is based on the Max Planck Research Group "Optics, Information and Photonics", which was founded in 2004 at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, as a precursor. The institute currently comprises four divisions.

The village of Tennenlohe, is a local subdistrict and a statistical district in the southeast part of the independent city of Erlangen in the Bavarian administrative district of Middle Franconia. Until 1972, when it was incorporated, Tennenlohe was an independent municipality in the Erlangen county. The statistical district 52, which covers a large part of the Tennenlohe district, has about 4,400 inhabitants. The place is considered a village by the locals, however from a US- or Canadian perspective this might as well be considered a small town. In general, places that have a population of under 5,000 inhabitants are mostly considered to be a village in Germany.

The Erlangen Central Cemetery (German: Zentralfriedhof Erlangen) (also known as the Municipal Cemetery (German: Städtischer Friedhof)) is an urban cemetery in Erlangen. With an area of approximately 60,000 square meters and about 9,000 graves, it is the largest cemetery in the middle Franconian city. Its burial district today includes the core city of Erlangen (east of the Regnitz) as well as the districts of Sieglitzhof and Tennenlohe.

Erlangen (German pronunciation: [ˈɛɐ̯laŋən] (listen); Mainfränkisch: Erlang, Bavarian: Erlanga), is a Middle Franconian city in Bavaria, Germany. It is the seat of the administrative district Erlangen-Höchstadt (former administrative district Erlangen), and with 116,062 inhabitants (as of 30 March 2022), it is the smallest of the eight major cities (Großstadt) in Bavaria. The number of inhabitants exceeded the threshold of 100,000 in 1974, making Erlangen a major city according to the statistical definition officially used in Germany. Together with Nuremberg, Fürth, and Schwabach, Erlangen forms one of the three metropolises in Bavaria. With the surrounding area, these cities form the European Metropolitan Region of Nuremberg, one of 11 metropolitan areas in Germany. The cities of Nuremberg, Fürth, and Erlangen also form a triangle on a map, which represents the heartland of the Nuremberg conurbation. An element of the city that goes back a long way in history, but is still noticeable, is the settlement of Huguenots after the withdrawal of the Edict of Nantes in 1685. Today, many aspects of daily life in the city are dominated by the Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg and the Siemens technology group.

The Zenn is a river of Bavaria, Germany. It is a tributary of the Regnitz, into which it flows near Vach.

Vach is a district in the city of Fürth, Germany. Originally a separate town, it was incorporated into Fürth in 1972. It is first mentioned in documents concerning Gundekar II of Eichstätt in 1059. As of 1961, Vach has an area of 8.208 km².The village is located between the Rhine–Main–Danube Canal and the Regnitz, into which the Zenn and, further north, the Michaelbach flows. The flood plain of Regnitz and Zenn is listed as a landscape conservation area. The village has a population of 2815 and 712 inhabited houses as of 1987.

Erlangen station is located on the Nuremberg–Bamberg railway in the German state of Bavaria. It is the oldest railway station of the city of Erlangen and it is the only station in the city served by long-distance trains. It is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 3 station and has four platform tracks.

Neustädter Kirche (new town church) is one of three large downtown churches of the Baroque old town of Erlangen. Germany. The church is Lutheran. It dominates the town, together with the Reformed Hugenottenkirche (church of the Huguenots) and the Lutheran Altstädter Kirche (old town church).
