The Embassy of Romania in London is the diplomatic mission of Romania in the United Kingdom. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1880. The embassy is one of several located in Kensington Palace Gardens, at 4 Palace Green. Romania also maintains a Consulate at 344 Kensington High Street, Holland Park and a Cultural Institute at 1 Belgrave Square, Belgravia.

It is located in the South Kensington area on Kensington Palace Gardens near the junction with Kensington High Street. The Grade II* listed building hosts both the Embassy of Israel and the Israeli Consulate, accessible via a separate entrance at 15a Old Court Place.

The palace also displays many paintings and other objects from the Royal Collection.

Wren House has been occupied by Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, one of Queen Elizabeth II's cousins, since 1978.When Kensington Palace was made the Royal Residence, architect Christopher Wren was tasked to expand the existing structure. He added a cluster of cottages that included: Wren House; Ivy Cottage, the former home of Princess Eugenie of York; and Nottingham Cottage, the former home of Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex.

Princess Eugenie, and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, resided in the cottage from April 2018 to November 2020. It is close to Nottingham Cottage, the former home of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

The London Museum, established to illustrate the history of London, England. was inaugurated on 21 March 1912 by King George V with Queen Mary and Princess Mary and Prince George in temporary accommodation within the second-floor State Apartments at Kensington Palace. It opened to the public on 8 April, admitting more than 13,000 visitors during the day. Two years after opening, the collections were moved to Lancaster House in St James's, and the museum remained there until World War II. The first Keeper of the museum was Sir Guy Francis Laking, and from 1926 to 1944 the Keeper was the archaeologist Mortimer Wheeler. During World War II, much of the collection was evacuated for storage at nearby Dover Street tube station, and later at Piccadilly Circus tube station. Some of the galleries at Lancaster House reopened to the public in 1942, but in November 1943 the building was requisitioned by the Ministry of Works as a conference centre and base for the new European Advisory Commission, the museum retaining only the basement for storage of its collections. After World War II, attempts to reclaim Lancaster House for the museum's use failed. Eventually in 1948 George VI agreed that the museum might be accommodated once more in part of Kensington Palace, this time on the lower two floors, and it reopened there in July 1951. In 1975, under the directorship of Donald Harden, the London Museum was amalgamated with the City of London's Guildhall Museum to form the Museum of London, which opened to the public in a new building in the City of London in 1976.

Kensington Market was a three story indoor market at 49/53 Kensington High Street, in the Kensington area of London, England. It opened in 1967. In the 1960s and 1970s, it catered to hippie and bohemian culture. From the 1980s to the end of the 1990s, it catered to punks, new romantics, metal heads, ravers, and goths, as well as other sub-cultures of contemporary music, fashion, hair stylists, body arts, and crafts and accessories. In 1969, before the band Queen had formed, Roger Taylor ran a stall at the market, also enlisting Freddie Mercury to work on it.Hyper Hyper was a unit that provided stall space for many new designers, including Fiona Cartledge (Sign of the Times), Pam Hogg, Rachel Auburn and Leigh Bowery, before moving to its own premises across the road in October 1996.The market finally closed on 29 January 2000. The building was left derelict following its closure, and was demolished in 2001.

Barkers of Kensington was a department store in Kensington High Street, Kensington, London. It began as a small drapery business, John Barker & Company, founded by John Barker and James Whitehead in 1870. Barkers grew rapidly to become one of London's largest and most well-known department stores. The company played a significant role in establishing Kensington High Street as one of London's principal shopping destinations for most of the twentieth century. The business was purchased by House of Fraser in 1957. Barkers closed permanently in 2006. Part of the former flagship building now contains a branch of Whole Foods Market (2019).
