Triermain Castle

Waterhead is a civil parish in the Cumberland district, Cumbria, England. At the 2021 census it had a population of 110. The east and south boundaries of the parish are largely formed by the River Irthing. The area of the parish is 1,838.88 hectares (7.1000 sq mi). Part of the village of Gilsland lies in the parish, while some of the village is in Northumberland. A section of Hadrian's Wall, with Birdoswald Roman fort, and the related Hadrian's Wall Path both lie within the parish, near its southern border. There is a parish council, the lowest tier of local government. The B6318 road from Langholm to Gilsland passes through the parish.

Milecastle 51 (Wall Bowers) was a milecastle on Hadrian's Wall (grid reference NY59306549).

Milecastle 50 (High House) was a milecastle on Hadrian's Wall (grid reference NY60676601).

Milecastle 50TW (High House) was a milecastle on the Turf Wall section of Hadrian's Wall (grid reference NY60716583). The milecastle is located close to the Birdoswald Roman Fort and is unique in that it was not replaced by a stone milecastle when the turf wall was upgraded to stone, the replacement wall instead running some 200m to the north. The milecastle was partially demolished by the Romans after it was abandoned. The milecastle was excavated in 1934 and several Roman rubbish pits discovered. The remains of the two turrets associated with this milecastle (which were demolished when the turf wall was abandoned) have also been located. As the turf wall lies some distance from the stone wall, the sites are not accessible from the Hadrian's Wall Path.

Leahill Turret is a typical example of one of the lookout towers located between the milecastles on Hadrian's Wall in Cumbria, located on the Lanercost Road near Banks, Parish of Waterhead. It is designated turret 51b and lies east of the Signal Tower at Pike Hill.

Milecastle 52 (Bankshead) was a milecastle on Hadrian's Wall (grid reference NY57946490).

Pike Hill Signal Tower was one of a number of signal stations that were built on high ground overlooking the line of the Roman Stanegate road in northern Britannia during the early 2nd century. It later became incorporated into Hadrian's Wall. Its remains, a 2-metre (6 ft 7 in) long fragment of the south-east wall, lie south of a modern road cutting and field wall, located in the parish of Waterhead in Cumberland, United Kingdom. The tower is located between Turret 51B and Turret 52A with the fort of Banna located to the east.

Upper Denton is a small village and civil parish in the north of Cumbria, England, about 1 km north of the A69 road linking Haltwhistle and Brampton. The population of the civil parish when taken at the Census of 2011 was less than 100. Details are included in the parish of Nether Denton. The village is situated on the line of the Roman Stanegate road which ran from Corbridge (Coria) to Carlisle (Luguvalium). Just 1 km to the north across the river Irthing is Birdoswald fort on Hadrian's Wall. Nearby villages include Gilsland, Greenhead and Lanercost. The church was built using Roman stones including a re-used Roman arch, believed to have been removed from Birdoswald fort across the river to the north. The old roofless Bastle house just to the east of the church was at one time a Vicarage. An accident at the level crossing on 24 December 1970 led to a Department of the Environment report. The level crossing is staffed and not automated even though there are very few residences on the north side of the line, and the road north of the line is a dead end.

Nether Denton is a scattered settlement and civil parish in rural Cumbria, England, situated about 12 miles (19 km) north-east of Carlisle, by the A69 road. The population of the parish taken at the 2021 census was 408. Nether Denton is a couple of miles south-west of the village of Upper Denton. The parish contains the village of Low Row. St Cuthbert's Church at Nether Denton is built at the site of a Roman fort, around 0.5 miles (0.80 km) south of Hadrian's Wall on the Stanegate road. The present building dates from 1868 to 1870, but there has been a church on the site since the 12th century. Denton Hall, now a farmhouse, comprises a 14th-century pele tower, gabled and reduced in height, adjoining a house of 1829. The walls of the tower are 2m thick.

Low Row is a former railway station on the Tyne Valley Line, which served the village of Low Row in Cumbria between 1836 and 1965.

Banks is a village in Cumbria, England, astride the course of Hadrian's Wall, 3 mile (5 km) NE of the market town of Brampton. The historic Lanercost Priory is just a mile (1.5 km) to the SW. Banks East Turret is a relatively well-preserved turret with adjoining stretches of Hadrian's Wall.
