The Wasserturm Mönchengladbach, also called Neuer Wasserturm, is one of the landmarks of Mönchengladbach.

Gladbach Abbey was a Benedictine abbey founded in 974 by Archbishop Gero of Cologne and the monk Sandrad from Trier. It was named after the Gladbach, a narrow brook that now runs underground. The abbey and its adjoining villages grew into the town of Gladbach, incorporated in the 1360s, the origin of the present city of Mönchengladbach in North Rhine-Westphalia. In 1802 the abbey was occupied by troops under the French occupation and secularised; its great library was dispersed. From 1805 to 1835 it was used as a textile mill. In 1835 the city authorities acquired the main building to replace the old Rathaus, which was demolished. This now constitutes the present Rathaus Abtei. The remaining monastic buildings were also acquired by the city one by one, for the accommodation of municipal offices.

The Basilica of St. Vitus (German: Münster-Basilika St. Vitus ) also called Mönchengladbach Basilica Is a Catholic church in Mönchengladbach in Germany. An old Benedictine monastery, Pope Paul VI elevated it in 1973 to the rank of Minor Basilica. The first true knowledge about the foundation of the abbey dates back to a document from the late 11th century, probably from the scriptorium of the monastery of Gladbach. This richly illuminated document reports that a nobleman long before the founding of the abbey would have erected a church on the top of the hill, a church destroyed by the Magyars in 954. In 1120, at the latest, the monastery was affected by the Benedictine reform Siegburg. It was between 1228 and 1239 the nave of the abbey took its definitive form. Between 1256 and 1277, while reconstruction was developing, the idea of building a new choir appeared, but on a different plane (the typical elongated choir of the Gothic style). In order to carry out this plan, Master Gerhard, the first architect of Cologne Cathedral brought to his experience. Albert the Great consecrated the abbey on April 28, 1275.

It is open daily without charge. The park contains three major sections: Kaiserpark, Colorful Garden, and Botanical Garden, including a rock garden, herb garden, and a fragrance garden, as well as the Kaiser-Friedrich-Halle and an aviary of some 200 birds. All told, the park contains about 4000 plant taxa, including 1400 species and varieties of deciduous trees and shrubs, and 800 types of conifers, including 150 types of maples, 60 types of oaks, and 20 types of birch. It also contains 600 species and varieties of rhododendrons and azaleas, and about 1200 types of perennials, as well as numerous artworks.

The SparkassenPark is a multi-use stadium in Mönchengladbach, Germany. It is currently used mostly for American football and field hockey matches and hosted the 2006 Men's Hockey World Cup, the 2008 Women's Hockey Champions Trophy, the 2010 Men's Hockey Champions Trophy and the 2013 Women's Hockey Junior World Cup . The stadium is run by former German field hockey international Michael Hilgers. It is also used by the American football team Mönchengladbach Mavericks.

Rheydt (German pronunciation: [ˈʁaɪt]) is a borough of the German city Mönchengladbach, located in the west of North Rhine-Westphalia. Until 1918 and then again from 1933 (due to a split from Mönchengladbach arranged by Joseph Goebbels, who was born there) through 1975 it was an independent city. After merging with Mönchengladbach, the central station (Rheydt Hauptbahnhof) kept its original name, making Mönchengladbach the only city in Germany to have two stations called Hauptbahnhof. Schloss Rheydt, one of the best-preserved palaces of the Renaissance period, is located in Rheydt.
