Cardiff West Community High School

Ely Racecourse was a horse racing venue in the Ely district of Cardiff, Wales. The racecourse opened in 1855, with the first race being held on 30 May. By 1864 racing at Ely was a regular event, the races that year were acclaimed as 'the most brilliant and successful ever held'.

Ely Hospital (Welsh: Ysbyty Trelái) was a large psychiatric hospital in the Ely district of Cardiff, Wales. An enquiry into the ill-treatment of patients at the hospital led to reforms to services for people with intellectual disabilities throughout the UK.

Ely Main Line railway station served the suburb of Ely, Cardiff until the 1960s.

Pwll-coch was formerly a hamlet in the parish of Llandaff near Cardiff, and is now part of the district of Canton. It was located on the junction of Windway Road and the main road from Cardiff to Ely (the modern A4161 at Cowbridge Road East), a short distance from Ely Bridge.

Waun-gron Park railway station serves the Fairwater area of Cardiff, Wales. Passenger services are currently operated by Transport for Wales. The station was opened in 1987 when a passenger service was introduced to the City Line, though the line itself opened in 1859 and was originally goods only. The station has an unusual staggered platform arrangement, one platform straddles the bridge over the roadway.Waun-gron Park is the nearest station to the large suburb of Ely which is 10 minutes' walk from the station along Western Avenue and over Ely Bridge.

Caerau [ˈkai̯r.ai] is a community in the west of Cardiff, capital city of Wales. Often considered part of Wenvoe by gully, Heol Trelai is the main road or avenue, lined with large trees. Dominated mostly by private housing, it has the Western Leisure Centre, supermarkets, schools and churches.

Cowbridge Road West (Welsh: Heol y Bontfaen Gorllewin) is a major road in western Cardiff, the capital of Wales and forms part of the A48 road. It divides the districts of Ely and Caerau and connects inner Cardiff to Culverhouse Cross and eventually the M4 motorway via the A4232. It also connects Cardiff ultimately to towns and villages such as Barry, Wenvoe, Cowbridge and Peterston-Super-Ely which can be accessed via the A48 from Culverhouse Cross. Ely Hospital was a large psychiatric hospital that closed in 1996 and has since been demolished. It was near to the fire station on Cowbridge Road West.

Sanatorium Park (Welsh: Parc Sanatorium) is a public park in the Leckwith district of western Cardiff, Wales. It includes open green space, wildflower hedgerows, two play areas, and a football goal with a half basketball court.

St. Mary the Virgin Church is a deconsecrated and ruined church in the parish of Caerau with Ely, Cardiff, Wales. It was built in the 13th century on a Roman encampment and closed for the last time in 1973.

St David's Church, Fairwater is a Lutheran church in Fairwater, Cardiff, Wales. There has been a Lutheran community in central Cardiff since the 19th Century, but that in Fairwater is far more recent, forming only after new housing development in the post-war years. The church was designed by Vernon Kinch of Alex Gordon and Partners, and was completed in 1961. it belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran Church of England, and became a grade II listed building in 2007. Aside from some minor changes in joinery and the replacement of the original windows, the church is largely unaltered.

Victoria Park is a public park in the Canton district of Cardiff in south Wales at Cowbridge Road East. As its name suggests, it is a traditional Victorian era park named after Queen Victoria and has retained much of its original charm. The park was created as a municipal recreation ground by Cardiff City Council through a city charter between 1897 and 1898 to celebrate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee marking her record sixty years on the throne. The park occupies part of the former Llandaff Common. The park covers nearly twenty acres (8 ha) and still contains the original model boating and paddling pool which remains a very popular attraction in summer, plus a playpark for younger children. At the very north of the park there are tennis courts and a synthetic turf field for 5-a-side football. The original 1898 bandstand had fallen into disrepair and had been demolished but, in 1998, a replica of the original bandstand was erected on the original site to mark the park's centennial celebrations. There are many mature trees and blossom trees in spring, together with crocuses and daffodils and flowerbeds that burst with colour during summer. There are wide paths and a refreshment shop by the pool. Public music events, markets and fairs take place throughout the summer months. There is also a whimsical monument to Billy the Seal who lived from 1912 to 1939 in what is now the paddling pool. The park is one of the few remaining UK parks where the park keeper still lives in an on-site lodge. A splashpad has now replaced the paddling pool due to maintenance costs. Victoria Park is recognised as one of the best maintained in the Cardiff area and has received a Green Flag Award; it has been used for location filming for Doctor Who episodes, namely Forest of the Dead and The Lodger, as well as Mark of the Berserker for the related Sarah-Jane Adventures.

Michaelston-le-Pit and Leckwith is a community in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. It is located immediately southwest of the city of Cardiff (bounded by the A4232 road) and to the north of the Vale of Glamorgan villages of Llandough and Dinas Powys. As its name suggests, the community includes the small villages of Michaelston-le-Pit and Leckwith. The community population comprises only just under 250 adults.Michaelston-le-Pit and Leckwith have a community council comprising seven councillors and a clerk. For Vale of Glamorgan Council elections the community is part of the Dinas Powys ward. Buildings of note in Michaelston-le-Pit and Leckwith include the Grade I listed St Michael's Church in Michaelston-le-Pit and the Old Leckwith Bridge (crossing the River Ely to Cardiff) which has a Grade II* heritage listing.The population in 2011 was 309.
