Dene Valley

Coundon Grange is a village in the civil parish of Dene Valley, in County Durham, England. It is situated to the east of Bishop Auckland. In the 2001 census Coundon Grange had a population of 235.

Eldon Lane is a village in County Durham, in England. It is situated a few miles south-west of Bishop Auckland, a short distance from Shildon. In 2021 it had a population of 998.

Tunnel Junction railway station co-served the village of Coundon Grange, in the historic county of County Palatine of Durham, England, from 1858 to 1863 on the Shildon branch of the Stockton and Darlington Railway.

Coundon Gate (also known as Coundongate) is a small village in County Durham, in England. It is situated between Bishop Auckland and Coundon.

South Church is a village just south of Bishop Auckland in County Durham, England. St Andrew's church is the largest church in County Durham and a Grade I listed building. The church was built in the thirteenth century and acted as a collegiate church. The astronomer and mathematician Thomas Wright was buried in the churchyard of St Andrew's after his death in 1786. The area between the River Gaunless and the Bishop Auckland town boundary is currently unparished, but 2023 proposals recommend taking this area into the town. However, the village spills across the Gaunless into Dene Valley parish, so that part is parished already. South Church railway station opened in 1842 but was in operation for only about three years. Nowadays the area is served by Bishop Auckland railway station.

Eldon is a village in County Durham, England. It is situated a few miles south-west of Bishop Auckland, a short distance from Shildon. It gives its name to the peerage of the Earls of Eldon. The village became a civil parish, with a parish council, on 1 April 2003. It had previously been part of Shildon parish. The population of this civil parish as at the 2011 census was 327.

Grange Hill is a hamlet in the civil parish of Dene Valley, in County Durham, in England. It is situated to the south of Coundon, near Bishop Auckland.

Coundon railway station was a railway station that served the villages of Coundon and New Coundon in County Durham, North East England from 1885 to 1939. It was located on the Bishop Auckland to Ferryhill of the North Eastern Railway (NER), an extension of the earlier Byers Green Branch of the Clarence Railway (CR).

Shildon Association Football Club is a football club established in 1890 based in Shildon, County Durham, England. They compete in the Northern League Division One and play at Dean Street.
