The Pemberton Memorial Operating Room is a National Historic Site of Canada, the first operating room of the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, British Columbia. It established the Royal Jubilee Hospital as the leading surgical hospital in the province. The construction of the building to house the operating room was financed by a bequest left by Joseph Pemberton, and supplemented with additional funding by his widow Teresa Pemberton, who also partially funded the purchase of equipment. The funds were originally intended for the construction of a maternity ward, but were insufficient for such a project. Interior components were selected and designed to be easily cleaned and disinfected after each surgical procedure, including the mosaic tile floor, and it was connected to a sterilizing room. The design implemented anti-sepsis techniques developed by Joseph Lister, who visited the room in 1897 and was favourably impressed. It was used daily from its completion in 1896 until 1925, when the hospital expanded and built six new operating rooms. The Pemberton Memorial Operating Room was declared a municipal heritage site in 1995 and recognized as a National Historic Site of Canada on 28 November 2005.

CILS-FM is a Canadian radio station, which broadcasts at 107.9 FM in Victoria, British Columbia. Branded as Radio Victoria, the station airs a community radio format for the region's Franco-Columbian community. The station was licensed by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) in 2005. The station currently broadcasts from studios at the École Victor-Brodeur francophone school in suburban Esquimalt.The station is a member of the Alliance des radios communautaires du Canada.

Patrick Arena was the main sports arena located in the Greater Victoria, British Columbia, area. The wood constructed arena was located in the suburb municipality of Oak Bay, on the north east corner of Cadboro Bay Road and Epworth Street (then called Empress Street). Built in 1911 at a cost of $110,000 with a capacity for 4,000 spectators, it officially opened with public skating on December 25, 1911. More than 600 skaters enjoyed the thrill of opening day. The owners, Frank and Lester Patrick, built the arena primarily to accommodate their hockey team in the newly formed Pacific Coast Hockey Association (PCHA).

Oak Bay is a municipality incorporated in 1906 that is located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island, in the Canadian province of British Columbia. It is one of thirteen member municipalities of the Capital Regional District, and is bordered to the east by the city of Victoria and to the north by the district of Saanich.

École Secondaire Oak Bay High School is a high school in the Greater Victoria School District and is located in Oak Bay, British Columbia, Canada. The enrollment is approximately 1,400 students attending in grades 9 to 12 in both regular and French immersion programs. The school moved into new facilities on the same site in 2015. The construction took roughly 2.5 years.

The Abkhazi Garden was created in Victoria, British Columbia, on Vancouver Island, in 1946 by Prince and Princess Abkhazi. The garden is known as 'the garden that love built' and was developed by Prince Nicolas Abkhazi and Princess Marjorie ('Peggy') Abkhazi (born Marjorie Mable Jane Carter, later Marjorie Mable Jane Pemberton-Carter) over the decades that they owned the property on Fairfield Road.Prince Nicolas Abkhazi fled Georgia for France soon after the Russian Revolution where he first met Peggy in 1922. During World War Two he joined the French army and was captured as a prisoner of war by the Germans. Peggy meanwhile had returned to Shanghai where she was interned by the Japanese from 1943 too 1945. They were reunited in New York in 1946 and later moved to Victoria, British Columbia, Canada where they remained the rest of their lives. Not long after their deaths the garden was purchased by The Land Conservancy of British Columbia with plans to steward the land as a garden in perpetuity to memorialize and share the story of the Prince and Princess Abkhazi. The garden is approximately one acre and features pathways of crushed gravel and stone paths that wind their way under rhododendron plants with different coloured flowers that have grown to the size of trees. Under the rhododendrons grow smaller flowers, ferns, and other shade tolerant plants. In the centre of the garden is a tea house and gift shop. A proposal was submitted in March 2022 to protect the garden by transferring the denser zoning of the property to a nearby property and submission of a request to officially recognize the property as a heritage property in the city of Victoria. This is after the city tried to impose a heritage designation that met resistance from The Land Conservancy of British Columbia while it underwent restructuring and sought to sell some properties to maintain financial stability. The Land Conservancy was later able to sell the parking spot that had been heritage designated by the city on Foul Bay Road and no longer required creditor protection by 2017. The fee to enter the Abkhazi garden is by a suggested donation of ten dollars.

Rockland is a historic neighbourhood of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, located just southeast of downtown and northeast of Beacon Hill Park, and comprising the northern portion of the official city neighbourhood of Fairfield. Its boundaries are imprecise but the area roughly flanks Rockland Avenue. The neighbourhood was founded as, and remains, one of the tonier neighbourhoods in the city, and contains a notable concentration of opulent houses and heritage architecture and lush gardenscapes. The two largest, and most famous, of Rockland's residences are Craigdarroch Castle, built by the Dunsmuir fortune, and Government House.

Fairholme Manor is a Designated Heritage building located in the Rockland neighbourhood of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. It was built in 1886 on Rockland Hill, in a prestigious area known for its wealthy inhabitants, large lots and lush gardenscapes.It was constructed for the sum of $7,000 by contractors Hill and Conley and designed in an Italianate style by architect John Teague. The home's rambling, two-story symmetry; overhanging eaves with decorative brackets; narrow bay windows; and low-pitched, gabled roof are all features typical of this fanciful late 19th century style.Fairholme was built for John Chapman Davie, a prominent doctor and surgeon who is known today as an early promoter of Sir Joseph Lister's antiseptic surgical methods. In addition to introducing the surgical practice to British Columbia, he was also largely responsible for the design of the first operating room at the Royal Jubilee Hospital.Davie lived at Fairholme with his wife, Sara Holmes Todd, and his 3 children from a previous marriage. Sara Holmes Todd succumbed to pneumonia in 1894; Davie died in 1911. The building was fully restored in 1996 and now operates as a bed and breakfast.

The Belfry Theatre is a theatre and associated theatre company in the Fernwood neighbourhood of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. The company produces contemporary theatre, with a focus on Canadian work. The theatre building is a converted nineteenth-century church designed by Thomas Hooper.
