Mørup

Bjernede Church (Danish: Bjernede Kirke) is a medieval era round church located near Sorø, Denmark. It is one of only seven remaining round churches in Denmark and the only one of its kind on the island of Zealand.

Zealand (Danish: Sjælland [ˈɕeˌlænˀ]) at 7,031 km2 is the largest and most populous island in Denmark proper (thus excluding Greenland and Disko Island, which are larger in size). Zealand had a population of 2,319,705 on 1 January 2020.Zealand is the 13th-largest island in Europe by area and the 4th most populous. It is connected to Sprogø and Funen by the Great Belt Fixed Link and to Amager by several bridges in Copenhagen. Indirectly, through the island of Amager and the Øresund Bridge, it is also linked to Scania in Sweden. In the south, the Storstrøm Bridge and the Farø Bridges connect it to Falster, and beyond that island to Lolland, from where the Fehmarnbelt Tunnel to Germany is planned. Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, with a population between 1.3 and 1.4 million people in 2020, is located mostly on the eastern shore of Zealand and partly on the island of Amager. Other cities on Zealand include Roskilde, Hillerød, Næstved, Helsingør, Slagelse, Køge, Holbæk and Kalundborg. Administratively, Zealand is divided between two Danish regions: The Copenhagen metropolitan area and North Zealand belong to the Capital Region, while the major and more rural part of the island belongs to the Zealand Region.

Store Merløse is a town on Sjælland in Denmark with a population of 1,184 (1 January 2023). It is part of the municipality of Holbæk and close to Tølløse and Ringsted. It is a calm town with a primary school and a few businesses. For high school most people go to Tølløse. There is a local train from Vestsjællands Lokalbaner that will take you from Store Merløse to Tølløse or Slagelse.

Until 1 January 2007 Suså was a municipality (Danish, kommune) in the former Storstrøm County in the southern part of the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in south Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 145 km2, and had a total population of 8,529 (2005). Its last mayor was Poul Erik Sørensen, a member of the Social Democrats (Socialdemokraterne) political party. The main town and the site of its municipal council was the town of Glumsø. Suså municipality ceased to exist due to Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It was merged with Fladså, Fuglebjerg, Holmegaard, and Næstved municipalities to form the new Næstved municipality. This created a municipality with an area of 681 km2 and a total population of 78,446 (2005). The new municipality belongs to Region Sjælland ("Zealand Region").

Glumsø is a railway town, with a population of 2,114 (1.January 2023), located on the southern part of Zealand in Denmark. Until 1.January 2007 it was the seat of Suså Municipality. Glumsø Station is located in Glumsø, serving the Sydbanen line. The station was heavily redesigned in late 2009. Before being redesigned it used to serve German ICE trains on the Copenhagen-Hamburg line, although ICE trains now just pass through.

Store Tåstrup Rectory (Danish: Store Tåstrup Præstegård) is a three-winged, half-timbered rectory located east of Store Tåstrup Church, just north of Store Merløse, Holbæk Municipality, some 50 km west of central Copenhagen, Denmark. Together with its three-winged home farm (avlsgård), which is located between the rectory and the church, it surrounds a large rectangular courtyard. Access to the courtyard and hence the main entrance of the rectory is through a gateway in the home farm. The rectory was listed in the Danish registry of protected buildings and places in 1950. The home farm is not listed but registered with "high preservation value".

Sorø Municipality is a municipality (Danish, kommune) in Region Sjælland on the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in east Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 317 km2 (122 sq mi), and has a total population of 30,444 (2023). The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Sorø. Other towns in the municipality are Dianalund, Stenlille, and Ruds Vedby. On 1 January 2007 Sorø municipality was, as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipal Reform" of 2007), merged with existing Dianalund and Stenlille municipalities to form the new Sorø municipality.

West Zealand County (Danish: Vestsjællands Amt) is a former county (Danish: amt) in the west-central part of the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in eastern Denmark. The county was formed on 1 April 1970, comprising a few former counties. The county was abolished effective January 1, 2007, when it merged into Region Sjælland (i.e. Region Zealand).The county was responsible for public hospitals, upper secondary schools and schools for Higher Preparatory Examination, public transport and social welfare for the disabled.The County Hall was located in the town of Sorø, and became the seat of the new region. Sorø is by no means the biggest city in West Zealand, but it has great historical value. It is famed for the Sorø Academy (Danish, Sorø Akademi), an educational institution built in 1140 together with the church where Queen Margaret I of Denmark was buried (later moved to Roskilde Domkirke, Roskilde). Many people who live in West Zealand commute to the greater metropolitan area of Copenhagen for work.

Sorø (Danish pronunciation: [ˈsoːˌʁœˀ]) is a town in Sorø municipality in Region Sjælland on the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in east Denmark. The population is 7,999 (2022). The municipal council and the regional council are located in Sorø. Sorø was founded in 1161 by Bishop Absalon, later the founder of Copenhagen, and is the site of Sorø Academy (Danish Sorø Akademis Skole). The Academy is an educational institution built in 1140. Also built that year was Sorø Klosterkirke, the church where Bishop Absalon and Margaret I of Denmark were buried (she was later moved to Roskilde Domkirke, Roskilde). Many people live in Sorø, but work either in the greater Copenhagen metropolitan area or in the town of Roskilde.

Næsbyholm is a manor house and estate located east of Tybjerg Lake, between Sorø and Glumsø, in Næstved Municipality, some 70 km (43 mi) southwest of Copenhagen, Denmark. Since 1610, Næsbyholm and Bavelse have had the same owners. The three-winged Dutch Renaissance-style main building was reconstructed after fires in 1932 and 1947, incorporating elements from 1585. It is now used as a venue for weddings, conferences and other events. The scenic park was laid out in the 18th century. The Næsbyholm-Bavelse estate covers 1,424 hectares (3,520 acres) of land (2012), of which approximately half is forest.

Bonderup, also known as Bonderupgård, is a manor house located 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) south of Holbæk, Denmark. It was purchased by the merchant Johannes Theodorus Suhr in 1852 and is now owned by the Suhr Family Trust (Den Suhrske Stiftelse).

Ringsted Abbey (Ringsted Kloster) was one of the earliest and most influential Benedictine houses in Denmark, active from the late 11th-century until the Danish Reformation. It was located at Ringsted on the Danish island of Zealand.
