Alipur is the administrative headquarters and a sub-division of North Delhi district in the state of Delhi, India. Singhu is a village in the North West Delhi district of the National Capital Region (India). It borders the Haryana state, and became popular during the Indian farmers protest of 2020/2021 when the Indian government erected walls to prevent Haryana protestors from reaching Delhi. As of 21 March 2021, according to Haryana Police, there were around 18,000-19,000 committed protestors sitting at Singhu at the Delhi border. There are a number of different ways MSP is calculated and it is not always clear what is intended in policy documents such as 2018 Union budget of India.[3]

The 2021 Singhu border lynching refers to the lynching incident that occurred in the early hours of 15 October 2021 at Delhi's Singhu border, resulting in the death of Lakhbir Singh, a Dalit Sikh from Tarn Taran district of Punjab, India. The murder began with the victim's hand and a leg being chopped off, and later his body was hanged on a barricade near the farmers’ protest site. A Nihang Sikh group took responsibility for the lynching and killing, claiming that the man committed sacrilege of their holy scripture. A Nihang accepted his role in the murder, and surrendered on the same day. The second accused, who also belongs to the Nihang group, was arrested by the Amritsar police. After being taken into the police custody, the second accused claimed that he had surrendered before the police. Meanwhile, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) distanced itself from the alleged lynching of the man, and agreed to cooperate with the police in the investigation. The Bhim Army extended financial support for the family of the victim and demanded an impartial probe from the CBI. In addition, 15 Dalit organizations have also called for strict action against the culprits in the killing of Lakhbir Singh at the Singhu border. Meanwhile, the victim's family has complained to the "National Commission for Scheduled Castes" about the lack of support from the Punjab state government.

Mukhmel Pur is a census town in North West district in the Indian territory of Delhi. According to the 2011 census, there were 910 families residing in the Mukhmel Pur city. The total population was 4,931 (2,649 males and 2,282 females; sex ratio 861). There were 584 children aged 0–6 years (331 males and 253 females), 12% of the total population. The child sex ratio was 764, lower than the overall ratio (861). The literacy rate was 84.8%, higher than the 84.4% average of North West district. Male literacy was 91.76% and female literacy was 76.74%.

Narela is a Suburb and a Tehsil of Delhi, located in the North Delhi district of Delhi, close to the border of Haryana. Narela is a part of North Delhi. It is one of 12 zones of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and one of the three subdistricts of the North Delhi district, along with Alipur and Model Town.
