The Alster-Schwimmhalle is one of Germany's larger aquatics centers, located in the Hamburg district of Hohenfelde. Opened in 1973, it has regularly hosted various national and international swimming competitions. The Alster-Schwimmhalle is notable for its 102 m (335 ft) by 52 m (171 ft) double hyperbolic-paraboloid concrete-shell roof structure, designed by Jörg Schlaich, then partner at Stuttgart-based engineering firm Leonhardt & Andrä. Resting on three bearings and only 8 cm (3.1 in) thin, the concrete roof remains one the world's largest of its kind. Reminiscent of a butterfly –an allegory to its function as a swimming venue– the airy roof structure earned the Alsterschwimmhalle its nickname as "Schwimmoper" (Aquatic Opera). The building was substantially renovated in 2007 at a cost of approx 1 mio EUR. A further major renovation is planned for 2020 to 2024 at an expected cost of 60 mio EUR, closing the facility for four years.

The Monument to the X-ray and Radium Martyrs of All Nations (also known as the X-ray Martyrs' Memorial) is a memorial in Hamburg, Germany, commemorating those who died due to their work with the use of radiation, particularly X-rays, in medicine. It was unveiled on the grounds of St Georg (St George's) Hospital (now the Asklepios Klinik St Georg), on 4 April 1936 by the Deutsche Röntgengesellschaft (the Röntgen Society of Germany).When unveiled, the memorial included 169 names, from fifteen nations, listed alphabetically; by 1959 there were 359, with the additions listed on four separate stone plaques, beside the original columnar stone memorial.

Lohmühlenstraße (German pronunciation: [loːˈmyːlɛnʃtʁaːsə]) is a public transport metro station for the rapid transit trains on the line U1 located in Hamburg, Germany in the quarter St. Georg in the Hamburg-Mitte borough. The station is close to the St. Georg hospital and the main campus of the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences.

Al-Quds Mosque Hamburg (Arabic: مسجد القدس, meaning "Jerusalem", or Masjid Taiba مسجد طيبة) was a mosque in Hamburg, Germany between 1993 and 2010 when it was shut down by German security officials. The mosque is known for preaching a radical form of Sunni Islam. Al-Quds mosque was attended by some of the September 11 attackers including Mohamed Atta, Marwan al-Shehhi, Ramzi bin al-Shibh, and Ziad Jarrah who formed the Hamburg cell.

The Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (German: Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften Hamburg) is a higher education and applied research institution located in Hamburg, Germany. Formerly known as Fachhochschule Hamburg, the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences was founded in 1970. In terms of student enrolment, the HAW is the second-largest university in Hamburg and the third-largest applied sciences university in Germany, with a student body of 17,100.

Wandse (in sections also called Eilbek) is a river flowing through Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg, Germany. The Wandse rises west of the village of Siek in Kreis Stormarn in Schleswig-Holstein and ends in the center of Hamburg in the Alster. Along the banks of the Wandse there were many water mills. The river passes through the settlements of Siek, Braak, Stapelfeld, and Hamburg. The Hamburg district of Wandsbek takes its name from the river as it winds its way westwards via the Eichtal Park, a public urban park. After passing through the Mühlenteich pond, the river continues as Eilbek (later Eilbekkanal), eponymous to the Eilbek district. The canal joins the Alster in the heart of Hamburg at Außenalster.

Lübecker Straße is a metro station located in Hohenfelde, Hamburg, Germany. It was built and first opened on 1 March 1912, originally located in a terrain cutting. Between 1958 and 1960 the station was rebuilt into an underground, reopened on 2 July 1961.

Berliner Tor (German: [bɛʁˈliːnɐ ˈtoːɐ̯]; literally "Berlin Gate") is a transport hub in Hamburg, Germany, served by the Hamburg U-Bahn (underground railway) and the Hamburg S-Bahn (suburban railway). The station is located in St. Georg, part of the borough of Hamburg-Mitte. The railway station is listed by the German railway company, because S-Bahn call at this station, and the S-Bahn part of it is managed by DB Station&Service.
