St. John's Church is a historic Episcopal church located near Sweet Hall, King William County, Virginia, United States. It was constructed in 1734 and is a one-story, T-shaped brick building. It measures 50 feet, 3 inches, by 20 feet, 2 inches, with a 24 feet wide, 28 feet, 9 inch, wing. St. John's is the only surviving colonial church in King William County to remain in the Episcopal charge. This church is also important in that it is associated with Carter Braxton, Signer of the Declaration of Independence, who regularly attended worship there. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

Cumberland Marsh Natural Area Preserve is a Natural Area Preserve located in New Kent County, Virginia, near the Cumberland Hospital Children-Adolescents. Owned by the Nature Conservancy, it preserves 1,095 acres (4.43 km2) of freshwater tidal marsh along the Pamunkey River, providing habitat for bald eagles, osprey, blue herons, and egrets, as well as for the sensitive joint-vetch. It is also an important habitat for wintering waterfowl.

Sandy Point State Forest is a state forest located in King William County, Virginia, 2,043 acres (8.27 km2) in size. The forest is characterized by its concentration of water-based resources. Recreational activities are allowed on the property, as well as hunting and fishing.

Cumberland is a historic farm property at 9007 Cumberland Road in central northern New Kent County, Virginia. The property, now about 131 acres (53 ha), was once the centerpiece of a much larger plantation estate. The main house has a construction history dating to the 18th century, and includes a number of interior features from that period. The exterior is largely the product of a 1930s update of the property to a design by Harden de Valsen Pratt, a major restoration architect. Other historic elements of the property include a barn and the family cemetery of the Toler and Fauntleroy families, who owned the property for over a century. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017.

King William is a census-designated place (CDP) in and the county seat of King William County, Virginia, United States. The population as of the 2010 census was 252. Located in King William is the oldest courthouse in continuous use in the United States, built in 1725. The community is also known as King William Courthouse or, by an alternative spelling, King William Court House. The King William County Courthouse, King William Training School, Sharon Indian School, and Sweet Hall are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The King William County Courthouse is a courthouse located in the town of King William, King William County, Virginia. The original courthouse structure was constructed in 1725; it is the oldest courthouse building in continuous use in the United States. The courthouse is constructed of brick laid in Flemish bond. In 1840 the courthouse was enlarged and a brick wall was erected to enclose the court green and to keep livestock and poultry away from the buildings. A new courthouse complex has been constructed to augment the old; however, hearings are still held in the old building to preserve its historic designation.This courthouse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1969. However, the courthouse in Chester of Delaware County, Pennsylvania dates back to 1724 and will likely become more significant as the county just voted for a 99-year lease with a vote of 4-0 (July, 2021).

Windsor Shades (also known as Ruffin's Ferry and Waterville) is located on the Pamunkey River in Sweet Hall, Virginia, United States. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Archeological native artifacts found on the property surrounding the house suggest it was the site of Kupkipcok, a Pamunkey village noted on John Smith's 1609 map.

Sweet Hall (also known as Sweethall) is an unincorporated community on the northern bank of the Pamunkey River in southeastern King William County, Virginia, United States. In none of the information easily available online about Sweet Hall is there mention that the owners were slaveholders, and that the structures were probably built and renovated by enslaved persons. Also, "outbuildings" were mentioned, but no mention was made of slave quarters, which surely existed. Enslaved persons were captive there until they followed the Union Army out of the area around 1863. Weevils in the Wheat was "an expression used by slaves to communicate to one another that their plans for a secret meeting or dance had been discovered and that the gathering was called off. The small community includes two properties listed on the National Register of Historic Places: Sweet Hall and Windsor Shades. The Sweet Hall Marsh (part of the Chesapeake Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve) is located just south-southeast of the community.

Sweet Hall is a historic former plantation house for which the existing location Sweet Hall, Virginia is named. The only surviving house in the county with upper cruck roof framing (once common in rural England but never in what became the United States), it has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1977.
