Paignton Zoo

Wild Planet Trust, formerly known as the Whitley Wildlife Conservation Trust (WWCT), is a registered charity, set up to run Paignton Zoo after the death of its founder, Herbert Whitley, who established the zoo on his estate at Primley, Paignton in Devon in the 1920s. Wild Planet Trust also owns runs several local nature reserves in Devon, including Slapton Ley. Since 2003 it has owned and operated Newquay Zoo and Living Coasts. The Trust zoos have been recognised for sustainable tourism and was one of the first groups of British zoos to gain an ISO 14001 certificate for its environmental management systems. along with a recent Gold award for GTBS Green Tourism Business Scheme for Newquay Zoo. All three of the Trust zoos works within the BIAZA, EAZA and WAZA zoo networks in Britain, Europe and the World as well as having ex-situ conservation links overseas. The Wild Planet Trust Mission Statement, environmental and other policies are shared between all three sites and some can be viewed on the zoo websites. Primley House is a large estate house in Paignton, Devon. Built in the 18th century by the Belfield family, it stayed in family hands until the early 20th century when it was sold to the Whitley family. Herbert Whitley spent considerable time and effort growing a collection of animals and plants in the extensive outbuildings of the house, before extending his collection onto estate land on the other side of the Totnes Road. That collection was eventually opened to the public and became Paignton Zoo. On Whitley's death, the house was left to his assistant Gladys Salter, who converted it to a home for the elderly, which it remains to the present day.

The college is part of The University of Plymouth Colleges network. In December 2017, South Devon College achieved an overall grade 2 - 'Good' - in an inspection by OFSTED. South Devon College was also ranked the Number one Further Education and Tertiary College in England in 2014.

The Palace Theatre is a theatre in Paignton, Devon, England. It was built in 1890 and is the oldest working theatre in Torbay. It has been owned and run by Torbay Council or its predecessor organisations since 1920. The theatre underwent a major refurbishment in 2005 and has a seating capacity of 380.

The Church of St Mary, in the village of Collaton St Mary in Devon, was built between 1864 and 1866 in memory of Mary Maxwell Hogg, teenaged daughter of the Rev John Roughton Hogg, owner of the nearby Blagdon Barton estate, and granddaughter of hymnwriter and vicar Henry Francis Lyte. It is a Grade II* listed building.

The Bishop's Palace of Paignton, the remnants of which stand beside the parish church of St John the Baptist, comprise the remains of the residence of the bishops of Exeter in the town. The site is defined as a scheduled monument by Historic England, with the standing medieval walls and the C14th Century corner tower, sometimes called Coverdale's Tower, being Listed Grade II*. Within the walls are the fragmentary remnants of the palace chapel (Listed Grade II) along with a Grade II Listed vicarage of the 20th Century.

The Old Town Hall is a former municipal building in New Street in Paignton, a town in Devon, in England. It served as the offices of Paignton Urban District Council until 1946, but was later converted for residential use.

Kirkham House is a late medieval stone house in Paignton, Devon, England. It is believed to be a 14th or 15th century building. The house was designated a Grade II* listed building on 13 March 1951.

Paignton railway station serves the town and seaside resort of Paignton in Devon, England. It is 222 miles 12 chains (222.15 mi; 357.52 km) measured from London Paddington. The station is the current terminus of the Riviera Line from Exeter and is also an interchange station between National Rail services and the preserved Dartmouth Steam Railway.
