Penig

Amerika (German pronunciation: [aˈmeːʁika]) is a former company settlement in the German state of Saxony and a district of the town of Penig. As a small village of 79 residents (2010), it is known merely for its name, the German word for America, which was given to it in the 19th century. In 1836, a spinning factory was built on the left bank of the river Zwickauer Mulde, but houses for workers and clerks were not built until 1870. Initially, because a bridge was only built much later, workers and visitors coming from the right bank of the river had to cross the water using stepping stones or boats to access the place. As "crossing the pond" in those times was chiefly understood as emigrating to America, the factory was named "Amerika" by the local population. The name became official in 1876 (incidentally, the centennial of the United States of America) when the village's railway station was named "Amerika". The factory was closed in 1991. Amerika was part of Arnsdorf until 1993 and, together with the latter, became part of Penig in 1994. In 1995, the town of Penig bought the buildings from the Treuhandanstalt, and new trades and a museum (including workshops of locksmiths and file cutters, powered by a refurbished water turbine) have been established since.

Lunzenau (German pronunciation: [ˈlʊntsənaʊ]) is a town in the district of Mittelsachsen, in Saxony, Germany. It is situated on the river Zwickauer Mulde, 16 km west of Mittweida, and 18 km northwest of Chemnitz.

Rochsburg Castle (German: Schloss Rochsburg), which was probably founded in the late 12th century, stands on a rock spur, surrounded on three sides by the Zwickau Mulde river, above the eponymous town quarter in Lunzenau in Saxony. The medieval site and its division into the inner bailey, outer bailey and two zwingers is still easy to recognise. In its present appearance the schloss dates, however, to the Late Gothic and Renaissance periods. Its main construction phases date to 1470 and 1548; it is an important example of Renaissance architecture in Saxony. Over centuries the Rochsburg has formed the centrepiece in the Saxon district of Rochsburg.

Niederfrohna is a municipality in the district of Zwickau in Saxony in Germany.

Mühlau is a municipality in the district of Mittelsachsen, in Saxony, Germany. Mühlau lies in the arch mountain foothills approximately 3 kilometers to the north of Limbach-Oberfrohna, and 15 kilometers northwest of Chemnitz. The settlers of Mühlau originally came from Mehlem (currently part of Bonn) on the Rhine. The local name Mühlau is derived from the former home town.

Jückelberg is a village and a former municipality in the district Altenburger Land, in Thuringia, Germany. Since July 2018, it is part of the municipality Nobitz. It is the easternmost settlement in Thuringia.

Narsdorf is a former municipality in the Leipzig district, in Saxony, Germany. As of 1 July 2017 Narsdorf has been incorporated into Geithain. The villages of Ossa (with Bruchheim, Kolka, Wenigossa, and Niederpickenhain), and Rathendorf (with Oberpickenhain) had been incorporated administratively into Narsdorf in 1996, while nearby Seifersdorf had already been incorporated in 1934 and Dölitzsch in 1973.

The Chemnitz is a river in Saxony, Germany, a right tributary of the Zwickauer Mulde. It gave name to the city of Chemnitz, where it is formed by the smaller rivers Zwönitz and Würschnitz. It joins the Zwickauer Mulde near Wechselburg, south of Rochlitz and has a total length of 75 km (47 mi).

The Eula is a tributary of the River Wyhra in northwestern Saxony in Germany. It has a length of 31 kilometres (19 mi) and a catchment area of about 171 km2 (66 sq mi).

Wechselburg Priory, formerly Wechselburg Abbey (Kloster Wechselburg) is a Benedictine priory in Wechselburg in Saxony, dissolved in the 16th century and re-founded in 1993.

Limbach Municipal Church is a church in Limbach-Oberfrohna in Saxony (Germany), which was built in the 16th century. In 1811 it was transformed into a municipal church and in 1894 it was enlarged. In 1899 its tower was renewed after the old one was destroyed by lightning. It has a height of 29 metres. On January 25, 2009, a speeding car crashed into the roof of the church, whereby the driver was severely hurt. The police reported that the car skipped thirty meters of ground and hit the church in a height of seven meters.
