Waldenburg is a town in the district Zwickau in Saxony, Germany. The castle was owned by the House of Schönburg from 1378 until 1945. The pottery town of Waldenburg lies in the valley of the Zwickauer Mulde. The environment is characterized by forest areas, river meadows and the hilly landscape of the Erzgebirge foothills. Waldenburg was founded around 1254 and first documented in 1336 as the town of "Waldinberg". The German settlement of the area that later became Waldenburg began with the founding of the monastery in Remse in 1143. The construction of Waldenburg Castle took place between 1165 and 1172. It was built as a security post on the salt trade route at the Mulden crossing. The streets, buildings and remains of the town wall in the upper town still show Walsenburg's roots in the Middle Ages. A look into the multi-story cellar systems of the upper town reveal even more evidence of this. Walsenburg's pottery tradition has been strong for 700 years. Friedrich XI of Schönburg-Waldenburg awarded the Waldenburg potters their first letter of guild in 1388. Salt-glazed Waldenburg stoneware became very famous throughout Europe in the late Middle Ages. Neighborhood municipalities are Callenberg, the city of Glauchau and Limbach-Oberfrohna, Oberwiera and Remse as well as Göpfersdorf, Jückelberg and Ziegelheim.

Penig (German: [ˈpeːnɪç] ) is a town in the district of Mittelsachsen, in the Free State of Saxony, Germany. It is situated on the river Zwickauer Mulde, 19 km northwest of Chemnitz. The old and the new castle were owned by the House of Schönburg from 1378 until 1945. Penig housed a concentration camp during World War II.

Remse is a municipality in the district of Zwickau in Saxony in Germany. Remse is located 2 miles north of Glauchau. Two federal highway cross the municipality. Besides that the federal Autobahn A4 is accessible from south of town.

Amerika (German pronunciation: [aˈmeːʁika]) is a former company settlement in the German state of Saxony and a district of the town of Penig. As a small village of 79 residents (2010), it is known merely for its name, the German word for America, which was given to it in the 19th century. In 1836, a spinning factory was built on the left bank of the river Zwickauer Mulde, but houses for workers and clerks were not built until 1870. Initially, because a bridge was only built much later, workers and visitors coming from the right bank of the river had to cross the water using stepping stones or boats to access the place. As "crossing the pond" in those times was chiefly understood as emigrating to America, the factory was named "Amerika" by the local population. The name became official in 1876 (incidentally, the centennial of the United States of America) when the village's railway station was named "Amerika". The factory was closed in 1991. Amerika was part of Arnsdorf until 1993 and, together with the latter, became part of Penig in 1994. In 1995, the town of Penig bought the buildings from the Treuhandanstalt, and new trades and a museum (including workshops of locksmiths and file cutters, powered by a refurbished water turbine) have been established since.

Oberwiera is a municipality in the district of Zwickau in Saxony in Germany. Oberwiera has the following districts: Harthau, Neukirchen, Niederwiera, Oberwiera, Röhrsdorf and Wickersdorf. Around half of the population lives in the main district of Oberwiera. Municipalities around Oberwiere are Remse, Schönberg and the city of Waldenburg as well as Nobitz and Ziegelheim in Thuringia.

Narsdorf is a former municipality in the Leipzig district, in Saxony, Germany. As of 1 July 2017 Narsdorf has been incorporated into Geithain. The villages of Ossa (with Bruchheim, Kolka, Wenigossa, and Niederpickenhain), and Rathendorf (with Oberpickenhain) had been incorporated administratively into Narsdorf in 1996, while nearby Seifersdorf had already been incorporated in 1934 and Dölitzsch in 1973.
