Košice I (Hungarian: Kassai I. járás) is a district in the Košice Region of eastern Slovakia, in the city of Košice. It is bordered by the Košice II, Košice III, Košice IV and Košice-okolie districts. Until 1918, the district was part of the Hungarian county of Abaúj-Torna.

Košice railway station (Slovak: Železničná stanica Košice, also known for a short period as Košice hlavná stanica) serves the city of Košice, seat of the Košice Region, eastern Slovakia. Opened in 1860, the station is the eastern terminus of the Košice–Žilina railway, which forms part of Slovakia's main east–west rail corridor. It is also the terminus of a number of other lines, some of them linking Slovakia with other countries. The station is currently owned by Železnice Slovenskej republiky (ŽSR); train services are operated by Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko (ZSSK), RegioJet (RJ) and LEO Express (LE) (since 14 December 2014).

The Executioner's Bastion is a bastion situated at Stará baštová Street in the historic center of Košice, Slovakia. Its name is derived from the fact that the bastion was situated near a medieval executioner's house. It is semicircular building with eight cannon chambers erected around the year 1500. The bastion was converted in the years 1920–1930 to the needs of the East Slovak Museum. The Memorial House of Francis II Rákóczi is a part of the Executioner’s Bastion. It is a replica of his house in the Turkish exile in Tekirdağ. The exhibition in the memorial house presents relics reminding the life of the last leader of the anti-Habsburg uprising, the history of the replica of his house in Rodosto and the funeral of Rákóczi and his brothers-in-arms in Košice in 1906. The bronze sculpture of Francis II Rákóczi was unveiled on April 3, 2006 in front of the house.

The Rákóczi's sculpture in Košice is a bronze statue of Francis II Rákóczi, situated in the Executioner's Bastion in the historical centre of Košice, Slovakia. It is placed in front of Rákóczi's memorial house, a replica of his house in the Turkish exile in Rodosto. The sculpture was unveiled on April 3, 2006 in memory of the 330th anniversary of Rákóczi's birth (March 27, 1676) and the 100th anniversary of his remains burial in Košice (remains of Francis II Rákóczi and his brothers-in-arms were buried in St. Elisabeth Cathedral on October 29, 1906). The sculpture was donated to the city of Košice by the Government of the Republic of Hungary. Rákóczi's sculpture is 230 cm (7 ft 7 in) high and weighs 500 kg (1,100 lb). It is placed on a polished granite pedestal that weighs 8,000 kg (17,600 lb) and is 70 cm (28 in) high and 300 cm (118 in) wide. The statue is an artwork of Hungarian sculptor Sándor Győrfi from Karcag.

Sídlisko Ťahanovce ([pronunciation: 'seedlisko 'tyahano-utse], literally: "Ťahanovce Housing Estate", Hungarian: Tihany-lakótelep) is a borough (city ward) of Košice, Slovakia. Construction of the microdistrict began in May 1985. Today there are more than 20,000 people living in Sídlisko Ťahanovce (1/10 of all Košice's inhabitants). It is the youngest housing estate in Košice, assigned especially for young families. Sídlisko Ťahanovce is closely connected with the neighbouring, historically older borough of Ťahanovce, which was an independent village until 1969. The first written record about Ťahanovce dates back to 1263. Today it is home to approximately 2,000 (prevailingly elder) people, while the Sídlisko Ťahanovce borough has ten times the population, mainly thanks to its large housing estate.

The Evangelical Church or Protestant Church (Slovak: Evanjelický kostol) in Mlynská ulica (Mill Street) in Košice, Slovakia is a Neoclassical church building of the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Slovakia, a Lutheran denomination. It has Sunday services at 09:30 and 18:00 in Slovak, and at 08:15 in Hungarian.

St. Anthony of Padua Church or commonly known as the Franciscan Church (Slovak: Františkánsky kostol) or the Seminary Church (Slovak: Seminárny kostol) at Hlavná ulica (English: Main Street) is the second oldest church in Košice, Slovakia.

The Calvinist Church (Slovak: Kalvínsky kostol) at Hrnčiarska ulica (English: Pottery Street) in Košice, Slovakia was initially an army store-house. In the years 1805–11 it was rebuilt to a Calvinist church with a new 48-metre slender spire. The church interior is very simple, the only presentable piece is the pulpit. A metal rooster made in 1589 was given on the spire. Initially it was installed on the northern tower of the St. Elisabeth Cathedral.

The East Slovak Museum (Slovak: Východoslovenské múzeum) in Košice, Slovakia, is one of the oldest Slovak museums, founded in 1872. It is located in the Old Town borough of Košice, at Námestie maratóncov (Marathon Runners' Square). The museum was founded on 25 June 1876 as Felső-Magyarországi Muzeum (Museum of Upper Hungary), in the Kingdom of Hungary. In 1906, it was renamed to Felső-magyarországi Rákóczi Múzeum after the reburial of Francis II Rákóczi. A neo-Renaissance building was erected in the early 20th century. It was the first building in the town designed to serve its needs as a museum. There are sculptures of Perseus and Vulcan on the facade of the building.The museum also possesses a relocated wooden church that was built in 1741.

The Slovak Technical Museum (Slovak: Slovenské technické múzeum, STM) is a major Slovak technology museum, based in the eastern Slovak city of Košice, with branches throughout Slovakia. It was established in 1947 and opened to the public in 1948, under the name Technical Museum (Technické múzeum). The museum was renamed to its current name in 1983. Its main exhibits and headquarters are located in the northern part of Košice's Main Street (Hlavná ulica), in the historical public building known as Kapitánsky palác (The Captain Palace).

The New Orthodox Synagogue, Košice (Slovak: Nová ortodoxná synagóga v Košiciach) was built in the years 1926–1927 at Puškinova Street near the historic centre of Košice, Slovakia. It superseded the older Orthodox Synagogue in Zvonárska Street, constructed in 1899 to the design of János Balogh.

Košice Staré Mesto (literally: "Košice Old Town", Hungarian: Kassa-Óváros) is a borough (city ward) of Košice, Slovakia. It encompasses the historical centre of the city, consisting of the medieval and early modern core of Košice, with many preserved historical buildings of several architectural styles, and a small number of more modern architecture. The borough also includes the immediate environs of the historical centre (e.g. Mestský park ("City Park"), Staničné námestie ("Station Square") with the main train station, etc.).
