Břevnov Monastery

Břevnov (Czech pronunciation: [ˈbr̝ɛvnof]) is a district in the west of Prague, located in Prague 6. The district is home to the Břevnov Monastery (Czech: Břevnovský klášter). On the territory of Břevnov stems Brusnice brook. Břevnov was first mentioned in the 10th century. In 1907 was promoted to the city and since 1921 then became part of the City of Prague. Apart from the Břevnov monastery, we can find other remarkable buildings on the area. The building of the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences is located in the north-western of Břevnov. The legend of this institute was its former director Otto Wichterle, to whom is devoted the monument in front of the building. Others are: Ladronka homestead, Hostinec U Kaštanu and Hotel Pyramida. There is also a large Military University Hospital (Ústřední vojenská nemocnice). The Petřiny metro station on line A is located in the extreme west of Břevnov. The rest of the district is served by a tram line which runs along Bělohorská street.

Ladronka is a homestead at Tomanova 1028/1 in Prague 6, in the Czech Republic. Built by Charles IV, it was bought by an Italian count, then owned by the Sovereign Military Order of Malta before being broken into flats during communism. It was then squatted in 1993, becoming an internationally famous anarchist, self-managed social centre which was evicted in 2000. After several years of renovation, Ladronka was re-opened as an activities centre in 2005, to serve the park it sits within. There are facilities for dining, cycling, rollerskating, beach volleyball and football.

The Markéta Stadium (Czech: Plochodrážní stadion Markéta) is a 10,000-capacity multi-use stadium on U Vojtěšky in Břevnov, Prague, Czech Republic. The stadium has been the home of the Speedway Grand Prix of Czech Republic since 1997. The speedway track has a circumference of 353 metres (386 yards). The stadium opened during the 1930s as an athletics ground and is home to the athletics club PSK Olymp Praha and the Prague speedway team AK Marketa Praha. Since 1959, it has been hosting international speedway events and on an annual basis it also holds the Luboš Tomíček Memorial, named after the rider Luboš Tomíček Sr.In 2022, the stadium was selected as the first ever venue for 2022 SGP2. In 2023, the stadium hosted rugby matches during the 2022–23 Rugby Europe International Championships.

Petřiny is a station on the Prague Metro. It is one of four stations opened on 6 April 2015 as part of a project to extend Line A, together with Bořislavka, Nádraží Veleslavín and Nemocnice Motol.

Petřiny is a neighbourhood in Prague comprising the oldest panel housing estate in the city. It officially comprises three microdistricts; Petřiny I, part of Veleslavín, and Petřiny II and III, belonging to Břevnov, all belonging to the administrative district Prague 6.

Praha-Veleslavín railway station is located in Veleslavín, Prague 6, on line 120, linking Prague's Masarykovo nádraží with Kladno and Rakovník. The station was opened in 1863 on an already existing line, between Praha-Dejvice and Praha-Ruzyně. Freight services through this station were discontinued entirely since the 2008 closing of the spur to the nearby heating plant. The station is located a short distance from a tram stop on Evropská třída, which is also connected to Line A of the Prague Metro following completion of the current extension from Dejvická to Motol in 2015. The planned express line from Masarykovo to Ruzyně Airport will pass through Veleslavín, and increase the frequency of trains on the Prague-Kladno line to 4tph (trains per hour) in each direction, compared to today's 1tph.

Nádraží Veleslavín (English: Veleslavín Station) is a station on Line A of the Prague Metro. In early March 2015 it was put into trial operation and opened on 6 April 2015, together with Bořislavka, Petřiny and Nemocnice Motol stations.

Bořislavka (Czech pronunciation: [ˈbor̝ɪslafka]) is a Prague Metro station on Line A located in Vokovice, Prague 6, which opened on 6 April 2015 along with Nádraží Veleslavín, Petřiny and Nemocnice Motol stations on the first section of the western extension of line A (section V.A). Originally the station was planned to be named Červený Vrch ("Red Hill"), after the nearby housing estate of this name.

Motol is a cadastral area of Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. It is located in the second-tier municipality of Prague 5. It is the location of Motol University Hospital, a large teaching hospital.

Motol University Hospital (Czech: Fakultní nemocnice v Motole) is a large teaching hospital in the Motol area of Prague. It is the largest medical facility in the Czech Republic and one of the largest in Europe. It is a major teaching base for students from the Second Faculty of Medicine, and also for some students from other faculties mainly the First Faculty of Medicine. The Nemocnice Motol metro station nearby is named after it. This hospital has 2,410 beds. 860,000 patients treated a year as out-patients and 70,000 treated per year as in-patients. The hospital is served by almost 5,000 staff.

Veleslavín (Czech pronunciation: [ˈvɛlɛslaviːn], German: Weleslawin) is a district of Prague, part of Prague 6, situated in the west of the city approximately 5 km from Ruzyně International Airport. It was probably founded in the 10th or 11th century, first recorded in records from the nearby Břevnov Monastery, and has been part of Prague since 1922. As of 2006, 6,548 people live here.Veleslavín chateau, a single-floored baroque chateau located at the address Veleslavínská 1, is recorded as a cultural monument. The southern part of Veleslavín is part of the housing estate named Petřiny, the remainder of which is in Břevnov, and contains a number of modernist buildings designed by Vlado Milunić.

The Institute for Social and Economic Analyses (ISEA, Czech: Institut pro sociální a ekonomické analýzy) is a Prague-based think tank established in 2002. Its members' research covers subjects related mainly to the recent social and economic transformation of the Czech Republic. These include education, competitiveness, public finance, pension system reform, income inequality, tax issues of research and development, political systems and political corruption. The policy institute's motto is Diagnosis and Dialogue while the institute claims to strive to achieve a consensus among experts and the Czech political representation. The institute has been actively involved in lobbying the Czech Parliament regarding tax issues related to European Union funds available for research. ISEA has obtained grants mainly from the Open Society Fund in Prague, the Czech government via the Czech Science Foundation and from other sources such as Konrad Adenauer Stiftung. The institute is associated with the Global Development Network. In 2007, the institute founder, sociologist Petr Matějů, was named a Fulbright New Century Scholar.
