Kitzscher

Leipzig (official name: Landkreis Leipzig) is a district (Kreis) in the Free State of Saxony, Germany. It is named after the city Leipzig, which is partly surrounded by the district, but not part of it. It borders (from the west and clockwise) the state Saxony-Anhalt, the urban district Leipzig, the districts Nordsachsen and Mittelsachsen, and the state Thuringia.

Thierbach Power Station was a brown coal-fired power station in the Leipzig Bay at Espenhain-Thierbach, Germany. It had a 300-metre-tall chimney, which belonged to the tallest free-standing structures of the former GDR (Eastern Germany).

Espenhain is a village and a former municipality in the Leipzig district, in Saxony, Germany. On 1 August 2015 it was merged into the town Rötha.

Pomßen is a village some 20 kilometres from Leipzig, Germany. Since 1994, it is part of the municipality of Parthenstein. There is a fortified church of architectural and historical interest. It has an organ built by Gottfried Richter (1643–1717) The church is also of interest to music historians for its association with J.S. Bach. His cantata Ich lasse dich nicht, du segnest mich denn, BWV 157 was performed there in 1727.Pomssen is the birthplace of Gerhard Kretschmar, a victim of Hitler's program to exterminate children. Kretschmar was born blind, with one leg and one arm. He was killed at the age of only 5 months by direct order from Hitler. He was buried in the Lutheran Cemetery nearby.

Bad Lausick (German: [ˈbaːt ˈlaʊzɪk] ) is a town in the Leipzig district, in Saxony, Germany. It is situated 12 km southwest of Grimma, and 29 km southeast of Leipzig.

Benndorf is a district of the town Frohburg in the Landkreis Leipzig district of Saxony, Germany. The former independent municipality became a district of Frohburg on 1 January 1997. Since 1948, the former independent municipality Bubendorf became part of Benndorf.
