Tandang Sora National Shrine

Tandang Sora Avenue, formerly known as Banlat Road, is a major east-west thoroughfare bisecting Quezon City in Metro Manila, the Philippines. It is a two-to-six lane highway and municipal road that runs for 9.6 kilometers (6.0 mi) from its eastern terminus at Magsaysay Avenue in Pansol and U.P. Campus in Diliman to its western terminus at Quirino Highway in Baesa and Talipapa in Novaliches, crossing Barangays Culiat, New Era, Pasong Tamo, Tandang Sora, and Sangandaan. The avenue's segment east of Commonwealth Avenue is a national secondary road with the route designation N129; it also forms part of the Circumferential Road 5 (C-5) network of the Metro Manila arterial road system. Its western segment in Tandang Sora and Culiat west of Commonwealth Avenue is a narrow municipal road classified as a national tertiary road. Tandang Sora Avenue was named after its location in the barangay of Tandang Sora. The barrio, in turn, was renamed from Talipapa in 1952 in honor of Filipina patriot Melchora Aquino.A flyover linking Tandang Sora Avenue with Luzon Avenue over Commonwealth Avenue in Culiat was built in 2009 as part of the C-5 Road network project. In February 2019, the Department of Public Works and Highways announced the demolition of a flyover of Commonwealth Avenue at the Tandang Sora junction in New Era to make way for the construction of the Tandang Sora station of the Manila Metro Rail Transit System Line 7 (MRT-7). A Metro Manila Subway station is also planned at the avenue's junction with Mindanao Avenue in Tandang Sora.

San Nicolas de Tolentino is a parish church in Quezon City. It belongs to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Cubao, under the Vicariate of Sto. Nino. It is under the care of the Augustinian Recollect Province of Saint Ezequiél Moreno. The parish was named after San Nicolas de Tolentino, the patron saint of the poor souls in purgatory, whose feast day is celebrated on 10 September. Recollect fathers expanded their apostolate by building a church, which later became the center of a sprawling parish extending from Visayas Avenue in the east, to Mindanao Avenue in the west, from Carmel II in the south to Tandang Sora in the north. Established on April 30, 1975, it was on May 11, 1975, that Fr. Alejandro Ramirez, OAR, was installed as the first parish priest, with Fr. Antonio Ausejo, OAR, and Fr. Clemente Jubera, OAR, as assistants. In response to the demand of the faithful, the parish was divided in two: Our Father Parish and Our Lady of Annunciation Parish were created within the San Nicholas de Tolentino territory. The Parish Priest is Father Delfin Castillo, OAR with estimated population of 10, 000 Catholics.

The Tower of Power is a 777 ft (236.8 m), 100,000 watt TPO mast owned by the GMA Network located in Tandang Sora, Barangay Culiat, Quezon City. It serves as a transmitter facility for GMA's flagship stations, including DZBB-TV 7 (digital UHF 15), GTV's DWDB-TV 27, and Barangay FM's DWLS 97.1 MHz.

Colegio de San Lorenzo (CDSL) was a private Catholic college located in Barangay Bahay Toro, Quezon City and in Macabebe, Pampanga. It opened in 1988 in Quezon City and the branch in the founder's hometown of Macabebe opened in 1996.On August 15, 2022, Colegio de San Lorenzo announced it would be closing down and would cease operations by September 2022, citing financial instability and lack of financial viability due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The sudden announcement of its shutdown, on what would have been the school's first day of classes, brought negative responses from parents, students, and employees alike.

Mindanao Avenue (Filipino: Abenida Mindanao) is an eight-to-ten lane divided avenue connecting EDSA and NLEX and is a part of Circumferential Road 5 (C-5) in Metro Manila, Philippines. It is one of the three parallel roads that connects Tandang Sora and Congressional Avenues (Visayas Avenue and Luzon Avenue were the others); that is why it was named after the southernmost mainland of the Philippines, Mindanao. It used to be a 2-kilometer (1.2 mi) highway connecting North Avenue and Congressional Avenue, but as a part of the C-5 projects, Mindanao Avenue was extended to EDSA in the south and to Quirino Highway to the north. The new roads opened in 2000.Another road also named Mindanao Avenue, also in Quezon City, starts in Barangay Santa Monica, crosses Commonwealth Avenue and Regalado Highway, and terminates at a dead end at School of Saint Anthony in Barangay Greater Lagro, Quezon City. That road is not in any way connected to the original Mindanao Avenue but was planned to be the one and the same road according to the 1949 Master Plan for Quezon City. It would have connected the Diliman Quadrangle to the La Mesa Watershed area.Mindanao Avenue replaced some segments of Tandang Sora Avenue belonging to C-5; Tandang Sora has no access to North Luzon Expressway. NLEX Segment 8.1, also known as the NLEX Mindanao Avenue Link, began construction afterwards. In 2017, DPWH has resumed construction of the 3.2-kilometer (2.0 mi) Mindanao Avenue Extension Project, after being halted for years due to road right-of-way issues, notably involving residential areas. A total of 1.4-kilometer (0.87 mi) portion of the road was earlier completed and opened since 2014. In June 2018, DPWH has opened additional 700-meter (2,300 ft) portion from P. Dela Cruz Street to the current end at MGM Road. The road will be extended further until it meets General Luis Street in North Caloocan.

FEU Diliman, formerly known as FEU FERN College, is an educational institution at Sampaguita Avenue, Mapayapa Village, Diliman, Quezon City, Philippines. Founded in 1994 to commemorate the birth centennial of Dr. Nicanor B. Reyes Sr., founder and first president of the Far Eastern University (FEU), the institution offers programs from Kindergarten, Basic Education, High School, up to Tertiary Education. FEU Diliman is the home of the FEU Baby Tamaraws, the high school varsity team of FEU, for the Juniors Division of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP).Like its sister schools, FEU Tech and FEU Alabang, the college runs on a trimester academic system. An academic year starts in the second week of August and ends every June.

Quirino Highway station is an under-construction Metro Manila Subway station located in Quirino Highway, Barangay Talipapa, Novaliches, Quezon City, Philippines. It is the second station for trains headed northbound towards the East Valenzuela station and the third station for trains headed southbound to the North Triangle Common Station. Some of the station's closest landmarks include the NLEX Harbor Link, Pacific Global Medical Center, and a Wilcon Depot.

Quezon City University (QCU), formerly known as Quezon City Polytechnic University (QCPU), is a city government-funded university in Quezon City, Philippines. It was established on March 1, 1994, as the Quezon City Polytechnic, offering technical and vocational courses. It was renamed as Quezon City Polytechnic University when it was elevated into university status in 2001. By virtue of City Ordinance No. SP-2812, series of 2019, also known as the Quezon City University Charter of 2019, QCPU was rechristened as the Quezon City University to qualify as a beneficiary of Republic Act 10931, also known as the free tuition law. The university was given recognition and became a full-pledged university in 2021.

New Era University (NEU) is a private educational institution in the Philippines, run by the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC). Although it is associated with the INC, it claims to be a non-sectarian university. Its main campus is at New Era, Quezon City, within the Central Office Complex of the INC. Aside from its flagship Quezon City campus, it has four other campuses around the Philippines, including one in San Fernando City (Pampanga), in Lipa City (Batangas), in General Santos City, and in Baras (Rizal). Founded on 17 June 1975, it was known as the New Era Educational Institute, and was located in Echague, Quiapo, Manila, along Carlos Palanca St. It initially offered only secondary education (high school) but later expanded in 1977 to serve technical and vocational courses under its Center for Livelihood and Skills Training (CLST). It also offers graduate programs. In 1981, it was renamed New Era College after the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports (MECS) granted collegiate status, and later in June 1995, to its present name, New Era University, when the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) granted university status. It is run by the INC for the educational needs of INC members, although it accepts enrollments from non-INC members as well. Formerly, under the university umbrella, it ran the College of Evangelical Ministry (now Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church of Christ) School for Ministers), where the INC trains male members to become ministers. Other colleges include College of Engineering and Technology, College of Nursing, College of Business Administration, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Education, College of Music, College of Law, College of Computer Studies, College of Accountancy, School of Graduate Studies, and the then new College of Communication, College of Medicine, and Center for Medical and Health Allied Sciences. It offers new courses in the Philippines, including BS Real Estate Management and BS Criminology. NEU is the legal owner of the Philippine Arena, which is the largest indoor arena in the world with a seating capacity of over 50,000.It annually hosts its graduation ceremonies at the Philippine Arena in Ciudad de Victoria, which is being developed because there is a proposal to move the main campus of NEU to this location.

University of the Philippines Arboretum, also known as UP Arboretum, is a botanical garden located on the campus of the University of the Philippines Diliman in Quezon City, Philippines. It lies at the northern part of the village of U.P. Campus between the U.P.-Ayala Land TechnoHub on Commonwealth Avenue to the south and Central Avenue and the village of Culiat to the north, close to the Philippine Nuclear Research Institute. The 16-hectare (40-acre) man-made forest garden houses a collection of more than 9,000 tropical plants of about 77 unique species. It is one of few rainforests of its size located entirely within Metro Manila.

Bagong Pag-asa, also known as the Magsaysay District, is an administrative division in eastern Metro Manila. It is an urban barangay of Quezon City with low-density housing and is known for its shopping malls, transport hubs and office buildings. Neighboring barangays include Project 6 and Vasra in the northeast; Bahay Toro in the north; Pinyahan in the east; Veterans Village, Bungad and Sto. Cristo in the northwest; Phil-Am in the west; West Triangle in the southwest; and South Triangle in the south.

St. John of Beverley (abbreviated SJB) [1] is a DepEd-recognized primary, secondary, and tertiary educational institution located in Novaliches Town Proper, Quezon City, Philippines. It was established and currently led by Dr. Erlinda P. Mercado in 1995. The name of school was inspired by Saint John of Beverley.[2]
