Artspace, officially Artspace Visual Arts Centre, formerly stylised ARTSPACE Visual Arts Centre, is a leading international residency-based contemporary art centre, housed in the historic Gunnery Building in Woolloomooloo, fronting Sydney Harbour in Sydney, Australia. Devoted to the development of certain new ideas and practices in contemporary art and culture, since the early 1980s Artspace has been building a critical context for Australian and international artists, curators and writers.Each year, Artspace presents between 24 and 30 gallery projects, hosts over 50 artist residencies, initiates a range of public program and education activities, and publishes a regular projects journal together with cultural theory books and artist monographs.Artspace is supported by the Visual Arts and Crafts Strategy, an initiative of the Australian, State and Territory Governments. It is also assisted by the Government of New South Wales through Create NSW and by the Australia Council, the Australian Government's arts funding and advisory body.Artspace is a member of the advocacy organisation Contemporary Art Organisations Australia.Alexie Glass-Kantor was Executive Director in 2014, when she was invited as guest judge for the churchie national emerging art prize in Brisbane. As of March 2022 she still holds this position.

Harry's Cafe de Wheels is an iconic pie cart located on Cowper Wharf Road in Woolloomooloo, Sydney, Australia, near the Finger Wharf and Fleet Base East. They are best known for their dish "Tiger Pie", an Australian meat pie topped with mashed potato, mushy peas and gravy; it was named after the pie cart's founder Harry "Tiger" Edwards. Other Harry's Cafe de Wheels operate in Bligh Park, Bomaderry, Greystanes, Liverpool, Newcastle (using a converted Sydney R-Class Tram), Pennant Hills, Penrith, Tempe, Ultimo, Wetherill Park and Woodbine.

Sydney Distance Education High School is a public distance education school in the inner-city suburb of Woolloomooloo in Sydney. The school is on the same site as the Plunkett Street Public School. It delivers individualised education programs to students in Years 7–12 whose special circumstances prevent them from attending regular schooling. It also provides curriculum delivery to students in Years 9–12 studying a single subject not available at their home school. It uses the decentralised model of distance education, where the form of teaching is determined based on a student's situation. The school caters to students living in the Greater Sydney region. Woolloomooloo ( WUUL-ə-mə-loo) is a harbourside, inner-city eastern suburb of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Woolloomooloo is 1.5 kilometres east of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Sydney. It is in a low-lying, former docklands area at the head of Woolloomooloo Bay, on Sydney Harbour. The Domain sits to the west, the locality of East Sydney is near the south-west corner of the suburb and the locality of Kings Cross is near the south-east corner. Potts Point is immediately to the east. Woolloomooloo was originally a working-class district of Sydney and has only recently changed with gentrification of the inner city areas of Sydney. The redevelopment of the waterfront, particularly the construction of the housing development on the Finger Wharf, has caused major change. Areas of public housing (Housing NSW a.k.a. "Housing Commission") still exist in the suburb, with 22% homes in the 2011 postcode, owned by the Department of Housing, in front of Redfern, Eastlakes and Glebe.

The Finger Wharf is a heritage-listed former wharf and passenger terminal and now marina, residential apartments, hotel and restaurant located at 6 Cowper Wharf Road, in the inner city Sydney suburb of Woolloomooloo, Australia. It was designed by Henry D. Walsh and built from 1910 to 1916 by the Sydney Harbour Trust. It is also known as Woolloomooloo Finger Wharf and Woolloomooloo Wharf. The property is owned by Transport for NSW. The structure is the longest timbered-piled wharf in the world. During its working life for around 70 years, it mainly handled the export of wool, but also acted as a staging point for troop deployment to the World Wars as well as a disembarking point for new migrants arriving in Australia. Today it has been redeveloped as a fashionable complex housing a hotel, restaurants and residential apartments.

55 Victoria Street is a heritage-listed residence and former boarding house and Catholic Women's Association hostel located at 55 Victoria Street in the inner city Sydney suburb of Potts Point in the City of Sydney local government area of New South Wales, Australia. It was built in 1875. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999.

St Vincent's College (colloquially known as Vinnies), is an independent Roman Catholic single-sex secondary day and boarding school for girls, located in Victoria Street, Potts Point, an inner-city suburb of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The college is the oldest registered Catholic girls' school in Australia, founded by the Sisters of Charity as a co-educational primary school in 1858. St Vincent's College follows the spirituality of Ignatius of Loyola. The Old Fitzroy Theatre (also called the Old Fitz Theatre) is a pub theatre in Woolloomooloo in central Sydney, Australia.The 58-seat venue was established by Jeremy Cumpston in 1997 in the cellar of the Old Fitzroy Hotel. It is known for independent productions featuring emerging artists. Many leading Australian theatre makers participated in plays at the theatre early in their careers. The theatre was managed until 2012 by Tamarama Rock Surfers, and since 2014 by Red Line Productions.After having to close for one year, they presented twelve productions in their 2021/2022 season, including Ionescu's Exit the King, Beckett's Happy Days, Sarah Kane's Cleansed, the Broadway play Hand to God, and Mahagonny-Songspiel and The Seven Deadly Sins by Brecht and Weill. To raise funds for the continued operation of the venue, Guy Noble (piano) and Teddy Tahu Rhodes (bass-baritone) gave a series of six concerts in November/December 2022.

The Art Gallery of New South Wales (AGNSW), founded as the New South Wales Academy of Art in 1872 and known as the National Art Gallery of New South Wales between 1883 and 1958, is located in The Domain, Sydney, Australia. It is the most important public gallery in Sydney and one of the largest in Australia. The gallery's first public exhibition opened in 1874. Admission is free to the general exhibition space, which displays Australian art (including Indigenous Australian art), European and Asian art. A dedicated Asian Gallery was opened in 2003.

Potts Point is a small and densely populated area in inner-city Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Potts Point is located 2 kilometres east of the Sydney central business district and is part of the local government area of the City of Sydney. Potts Point sits on a ridge immediately east of Woolloomooloo, west of Elizabeth Bay and Rushcutters Bay and north of Darlinghurst. The suburb has a roughly trapezoidal shape, and at its greatest extent is no more than one kilometre long by 200 metres wide. The suburb's boundaries include Macleay Street to the east, Darlinghurst Road to the southeast, William Street to the south, Brougham Street and part of Cowper Wharf Road to the west.

Rockwall is a heritage-listed house and former school at 7 Rockwall Crescent in the inner city Sydney suburb of Potts Point in the City of Sydney local government area of New South Wales, Australia. It was designed by John Verge and built from 1831 to 1837. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999.

The National Herbarium of New South Wales was established in 1853. The Herbarium has a collection of more than 1.4 million plant specimens, making it the second largest collection of pressed, dried plant specimens in Australia, including scientific and historically significant collections and samples of Australian flora gathered by Joseph Banks and Daniel Solander during the voyage of HMS Endeavour in 1770.The Herbarium is a centre for Australian plant research. These specimens are used for studies of Australian native plants, their relationships and classification. A botanical information service is also provided including native plant identifications.The National Herbarium is in the Robert Brown Building at the Royal Botanic Garden on Mrs Macquaries Road in Sydney. In June 2018 plans to relocate the Herbarium to a new purpose built Centre of Innovation in Plant Sciences to be at the Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan were announced. In addition to two journals, Telopea and Cunninghamia, the herbarium is responsible for the online database (and keys) to NSW Flora, PlantNet.The Index Herbariorum Code for the National Herbarium of New South Wales is NSW.
