Tempe ( tem-PEE;) is a suburb in the Inner West of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Tempe is located 9 kilometres south of the Sydney central business district in the local government area of Inner West Council. Tempe sits on the northern bank of the Cooks River and is separated from Sydney Airport by the Alexandra Canal, also known as Sheas Creek. The Wolli Creek waterway also empties into the Cooks River.

Nelson Lodge is a heritage-listed residence at 125 Unwins Bridge Road, Tempe, Inner West Council, New South Wales, Australia. It was built in 1858. It is also known as Milford Haven and Leinster Hall. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999.

Tempe High School is a government-funded co-educational dual modality partially academically selective and comprehensive secondary day school, located in Tempe, an inner-western suburb of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. A 2004 proposal failed to combine Tempe, Dulwich Hill, Marrickville and Newtown high schools into a multi-campus college due to falling enrolments. Instead, from 2005 the school became partially selective offering places based on academic performance as well as accepting local students.

Tempe railway station is a heritage-listed railway station located on the Illawarra line, serving the Sydney suburb of Tempe in New South Wales, Australia. It is served by Sydney Trains T4 line services. It was originally built in 1884. The 1884 buildings were designed by the New South Wales Government Railways and built by C. Mayes; the 1918 footbridge was manufactured by Dorman Long. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999.

Sydenham is a suburb in the Inner West of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Sydenham is located 8 kilometres south of Sydney central business district and is part of the local government area of Inner West Council. Sydenham is surrounded by the suburbs of Marrickville, St Peters and Tempe.

Fatima Island is a small island on Cooks River in Tempe, New South Wales, Australia. A low-lying sandbar, it is a refuge for Australian pelicans, egrets and silver gulls. It was named in 1951 for a Portuguese statue of Our Lady of Fátima.The island is slowly being washed away, something that is of concern to local environmentalists.

The Sydney Gateway is an under-construction major road interchange between the WestConnex and the airport terminals of Sydney Airport. Construction began in early 2021 and is expected to open in December 2024. It was originally planned to open in late 2023 in conjunction with the M4–M8 Link. The Sydney Gateway will also be constructed in conjunction with the duplication of the nearby Port Botany freight rail line, which is managed by the Australian Rail Track Corporation.Upon completion, the Sydney Gateway will connect the Sydney Motorway Network with the Sydney Airport and Port Botany precincts via St Peters Interchange. The completed project is expected to provide improved road links between the airport and Port Botany and reduce congestion.

Tempe House & St Magdalene's Chapel is a heritage-listed estate and chapel at 1 Princes Highway, Wolli Creek, Bayside Council, New South Wales, Australia. It was designed by John Verge (villa) and Sheerin & Hennessy (Magdalene buildings), with the original villa built from 1833 to 1836. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999.

The Alexandra Canal, a tributary of the Cooks River, is a heritage-listed artificial waterway in southern Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Alexandra Canal was named after Princess Alexandra, who married Edward, Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII) in 1863. The canal is Sydney's first inbound waterway. It stretches 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) from the inner Sydney suburb of Alexandria, flowing through the suburbs of St Peters and Mascot, past Sydney's Sydney Airport to the Cooks River at Tempe, which eventually discharges into Botany Bay. The canal is 60 metres (200 ft) wide, increasing to 80 metres (260 ft) at its mouth. and is one of only two navigable canals constructed in New South Wales.

The Electoral district of Sydney Hamlets was an electorate of the New South Wales Legislative Council at a time when some of its members were elected and the balance were appointed by the Governor. It was a new electorate created in 1851 by the expansion of the Legislative Council to 54 members, with 18 to be appointed and 36 elected. The electoral district included what were then outer suburbs of Sydney and are now the inner suburbs of Glebe, Camperdown, O'Connell Town (north Newtown), Chippendale, Redfern, Surry Hills, Paddington, St Leonards and Balmain.In 1856 the unicameral Legislative Council was abolished and replaced with an elected Legislative Assembly and an appointed Legislative Council. The district was represented by the Legislative Assembly electorate of Sydney Hamlets. Thomas Smart won the first election, declared on 22 September 1851.

Wolli Creek railway station is located at the junction of the Airport and Illawarra lines, serving the Sydney suburb of Wolli Creek. It is served by Sydney Trains T4 Illawarra line, T8 Airport & South line services and NSW TrainLink South Coast line services.

Sewage Pumping Station 271 is a heritage-listed sewage pumping station located adjacent to 5 Carrington Road, Marrickville, Inner West Council, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It was designed and built by the New South Wales Public Works Department. It is also known as SPS 271. The property is owned by Sydney Water. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 18 November 1999.
