Fitzroy Gasworks

The Smith St Hotel is a live music venue and pub located in Collingwood, Victoria. It opened in 1861 adjacent to the Fitzroy Gasworks as the Gasometer Hotel, known colloquially as The Gaso. Over its history, it has served as a hub for local musicians. Throughout the late 20th and 21st century, it went through several changes in ownership before closing most recently in February 2025. It reopened with its current name on 24 July, 2026. The building is a two storeyed stuccoed stone hotel on Smith Street, with a single storey section facing Alexandra Parade. In 2014, its yellow and black exterior was painted red.

Fitzroy is a former railway station which was on a branch of the Inner Circle line in Melbourne, Australia. The branch ran through the Edinburgh Gardens, just east of the Brunswick Street Oval. The station was opened in 1888, but poor patronage led to its closure to passenger services in May 1892. The line was thereafter used only for goods trains, which lasted until 1981. The site is now occupied by a medium-density housing estate. The last remaining part of the station, a lengthy footbridge, was dismantled and relocated to the Mornington Railway, where it has been rebuilt and restored.

Edinburgh Gardens is a large park located in the inner Melbourne suburb of North Fitzroy. It is bounded by Brunswick Street and St Georges Road to the west, the curve of Alfred Crescent to the north and east, and Freeman Street to the south. It was created from a grant of land in March 1862 by Queen Victoria and laid out by Clement Hodgkinson, who designed many of Melbourne's parks and gardens. At approximately 24 hectares (59 acres) in size, the park is large by inner urban standards.

The Brunswick Street Oval (officially known as the W. T. Peterson Community Oval) is an Australian rules football and cricket ground located within Edinburgh Gardens in the suburb of Fitzroy North, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is managed by the City of Yarra. Established in 1883 as the Fitzroy Cricket Ground, the venue served as the principal home of the Fitzroy Football Club until the end of 1966 (with the training and administrative base remaining until 1970). The club returned to playing at the venue when it entered the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) in 2009. Additionally, the oval also served as the main ground for the Fitzroy Cricket Club from 1872 until 1986. The grandstand, completed in 1888, was added to the Victorian Heritage Register on 27 June 1990 in recognition of its architectural and historical significance.

Clifton Hill Primary School is a heritage-listed public co-educational primary school located in the Melbourne suburb of Clifton Hill, Victoria, Australia. It is administered by the Victorian Department of Education, with an enrolment of 681 students and a teaching staff of 56, as of 2023. The school serves students from Prep to Year 6. It was added to the Victorian Heritage Register on 20 August 1982 for its historical and architectural significance to the state of Victoria.

Backwoods Gallery is a contemporary art gallery located in the Melbourne suburb of Collingwood, Australia. Founded in August 2010 the gallery exhibits Australian and international artists with a focus on urban contemporary art, street art and illustration. In December 2013, Complex magazine listed Backwoods Gallery in the top ten "Street Art Galleries You Should Know About".

The Punters Club was a pub and live music venue located on Brunswick Street, Fitzroy, in inner Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.It developed a reputation as one of the city's premier live music venues, drawing comparisons to the likes of New York's CBGB. It was also noted for its rough, alternative, yet casual atmosphere with audiences sometimes sitting on the floor while watching bands.

Clifton Hill Shot Tower is an 80-metre (263 ft) tall shot tower on Clifton Hill in Melbourne, Australia. Clifton Hill Shot Tower was built beside Alexandra Parade (Then called Reilly Street) with its associated factory for Richard Hodgson in 1882 to manufacture lead shot and resembles a chimney. The tower was operated by the Coops family, who also managed Coops Shot Tower, now located within the Melbourne Central Shopping Centre. The shot tower is easily visible from both Alexandra Parade and the northern end of Hoddle Street. The shot tower is on the Victorian Heritage Register. Urban legend states that infamous Melbourne biker and gangster, 'Chopper' Read buried a body at the bottom of the Shot Tower, although this remains unproven. "The significance of the Clifton Hill Shot Tower was confirmed by two of the world's leading authorities on industrial heritage. One is Sir Neil Cossons, the founder of the Iron Bridge Museum and former chairman of English Heritage. Cossons is widely regarded as Britain's leading authority on industrial heritage and has advised on matters of conservation and management widely in the UK and overseas. This has included the nomination of Japanese industrial heritage sites that represent the emergence of industrial Japan, 1850-1910, to the World Heritage Register in 2014. He inspected the Clifton Hill shot tower with me on 1 May 2010, whilst undertaking a tour of industrial sites of Melbourne, and it was the highlight of his day. He has studied shot towers in many countries, and in his opinion, the Clifton Hill shot tower has the most distinctive design for a shot tower, due to its scale, design and patterned brickwork."
