Oklahoma's 5th congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. It borders all of the other congressional districts in the state except the 1st district. It is densely populated and covers most of Oklahoma County and all of Lincoln, Pottawatomie and Seminole counties, as well as parts of Canadian and Logan counties. With a Cook Partisan Voting Index rating of R+12, it is the least Republican district in Oklahoma, a state with an all-Republican congressional delegation.Principal cities in the district include Oklahoma City (the state capital), Edmond, Shawnee, Seminole, and Yukon. The district is currently represented by Republican Stephanie Bice. She was first elected in 2020, defeating one-term incumbent Democrat Kendra Horn.

The Mabel Bassett Correctional Center (MBCC) is an Oklahoma Department of Corrections prison for women located in unincorporated Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma, near McLoud. The facility houses 1241 inmates, most of whom are held at medium security.The facility first opened in 1974, on Martin Luther King Drive in Oklahoma City. It was named for Oklahoma political figure Mabel Bassett, who served as the Commission of Charities and Corrections from 1923 to 1947. It also houses the female death row for the state.

McLoud High School is a public secondary school located in Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma in the town of McLoud. It instructs grades 9–12. It is a part of the McLoud Public School District, which also includes McLoud Elementary School and McLoud Junior High. McLoud High School currently has 621 students enrolled, giving it a student to teacher ratio of 36:1. Its mascot is the Redskins and its school colors are red, black, and white.

Harrah is a city in Oklahoma County, Oklahoma, United States, and a part of the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. Located 25 miles (40 km) east of downtown Oklahoma City, Harrah had a population of 6,360 people as of the 2018 Census. The first settler of the area, who was Potawatomi, arrived in the 1870s, but the town was not incorporated until 1908. The town was settled by Americans, Polish immigrants, and other groups and had a cotton ginning center. The city is overseen by a city council and mayor and includes a police department and fire station.

Choctaw is a city in Oklahoma County, Oklahoma, United States. It is the oldest chartered town in Oklahoma Territory. The city is located approximately 10 miles (16.1 km) east of Oklahoma City and is part of the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. Choctaw became a community in 1890, but was not given actual status as a town until 1893 when a territorial governor was appointed for Oklahoma. It officially celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1993. In 1950, Choctaw was in an agricultural area. It had a population of 355 in that year. Despite its name, the town has no cultural, historical or governmental ties to the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. The tribal headquarters and casino are located in the southeastern part of the state in Durant, Oklahoma, and the Choctaw Capitol Building and annual Labor Day Festival are in Tuskahoma, Oklahoma. Before Choctaw was chartered, the area included a part of William McClure's 7C Ranch and was known for a trading post and a camping spot near a spring.A community emerged on the east 80 acres (320,000 m2) of land John S. Muzzy claimed in the 1889 land run and received a postal designation in early 1890.The town incorporated in April 1904. When Oklahoma became a state in 1907, the town had 230 residents, four churches, a school, a bank, a newspaper and telephone service. By 1909, the town had three gins. The population grew very little during the Great Depression.

Choctaw High School is a public high school (grades 9-12) in Choctaw, Oklahoma. It is a part of the Choctaw-Nicoma Park School District. The district (of which this is the sole comprehensive high school) includes the majority of Choctaw as well as most of Nicoma Park and portions of Harrah, Midwest City, and Oklahoma City.As of 2020, it has 1,602 students and 81.84 teachers (FTE) for a student-teacher ratio of approximately 20:1. In 2017 it was ranked as the 28th best high school in Oklahoma by US News. It is the only high school in the Choctaw-Nicoma Park School District.

Eastern Oklahoma County Technology Center (EOCTC) is a public career and technology education center located in Choctaw, Oklahoma, United States and is part of the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education system.

Bethel High School is a high school located in Bethel Acres, in Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma. It serves approximately 400 students and is part of the Bethel School District.

Riley Leroy Pitts (October 15, 1937 – October 31, 1967) was a United States Army captain and the first African-American officer to receive the Medal of Honor. The medal was presented posthumously by President Lyndon B. Johnson on December 10, 1968 for actions in Ap Dong, Republic of Vietnam.

Nicoma Park is a city in Oklahoma County, Oklahoma, United States, and a part of the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. The name Nicoma is a portmanteau of the first three letters of Nichols, for G.A. Nichols, and the last three letters of Oklahoma. The population was 2,313 at the 2020 census, a 3.3% decrease from 2010.

Lake Thunderbird is a reservoir located in Norman, Oklahoma. The lake was constructed between 1962 and 1965 for the purpose of providing municipal water to the nearby communities of Del City, Midwest City and Norman. It is formed by an earthfill embankment (dam) 7,300 feet (2,200 m) long and up to 144 feet (44 m) high on the Little River. In addition to being a source for drinking water, Lake Thunderbird's secondary uses include numerous recreational activities. The lake is named for the Native American legend of the Thunderbird, a supernatural bird of power and strength. Many locals commonly refer to the lake as "Lake Dirtybird" due to the very murky lake water.

Oklahoma City Air Force Station (ADC ID: P-52, NORAD-ID: Z-52) is a closed Cold War United States Air Force air defense and communications-electronics headquarters and radar station. It was located 10 miles (16 km) east-southeast of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, just to the southeast of Tinker Air Force Base. It ceased to be a separate Air Force installation on 1 October 1983, when it merged with Tinker.
