Lake Thunderbird

Lake Thunderbird State Park is a 1,874 acres (7.58 km2) Oklahoma state park located in Cleveland County, Oklahoma. It is 12 miles (19 km) east of Norman, Oklahoma on State Highway 9.National Public Radio reported that this park had over 637,000 visitors in 2011. It earned $461,506 from activity fees and cost $1.2 million to operate.The park provides recreational access to Lake Thunderbird. There are two marinas (Calypso Cove Marina and Little River Marina), nine boat ramps and a swim area at the lake. The park has over 200 sites for parking Recreational Vehicles (RVs), including 30 full hookups. There are also restrooms, primitive campsites and a seasonal restaurant.

Cleveland County is a county in the central part of the U.S. state of Oklahoma. The population was 295,528 at the 2020 United States census, making it the third-most populous county in Oklahoma. The Bavinger House was completed in 1955 in Norman, Oklahoma, United States. It was designed by architect Bruce Goff. Considered a significant example of organic architecture, the house was awarded the Twenty-five Year Award from the American Institute of Architects in 1987. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001, and was removed from the National Register in 2017 after being demolished the previous year.

KGOU is a National Public Radio member news/talk/jazz music/blues music radio station serving the Oklahoma City area, western and northwestern Oklahoma, and towns in Pontotoc, Seminole and Grady counties. It is licensed to the Board of Regents of the University of Oklahoma. It is operated by OU's College of Continuing Education (OU Outreach), with studios in Copeland Hall on the OU campus. The staff consists of ten full-time and four part-time employees. The station operates four full-power satellites: KROU (105.7 FM) in Spencer, KWOU (88.1 FM) in Woodward, KOUA (91.9 FM) in Ada, Oklahoma, and KQOU (89.1 FM) in Clinton, Oklahoma. It also operates translators K276ET (103.1 FM) in Seminole, K250AU (97.9 FM) in Ada, K295BL (106.9 FM) in Chickasha and K286BZ (105.1 FM) in Shawnee. The Clinton facility was added in December 2017, when Cameron University transferred its license for KCCU transmitter KYCU to KGOU. The move expands KGOU's listener base to 32 counties, nearly all in central, western and east-central Oklahoma. The new call sign for the Clinton transmitter is KQOU.

Noble is a city in Cleveland County, Oklahoma, United States, and is part of the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Area. The population was 6,985 at the 2020 census, a 7.8% increase from 2010. Noble is Cleveland County's third-largest city behind Norman and Moore.

Lake Stanley Draper is a reservoir in southeast Oklahoma City, United States. It is one of three municipal reservoirs in the city. Principal construction on the reservoir occurred between 1962-1963. Upon completion it was named after the long-time director of the Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce, Stanley Draper. Located between Midwest Boulevard and Post Road, near I-240, it receives water by pipeline from Atoka Lake and McGee Creek Reservoir.

Oklahoma's 5th congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. It borders all of the other congressional districts in the state except the 1st district. It is densely populated and covers most of Oklahoma County and all of Lincoln, Pottawatomie and Seminole counties, as well as parts of Canadian and Logan counties. With a Cook Partisan Voting Index rating of R+12, it is the least Republican district in Oklahoma, a state with an all-Republican congressional delegation.Principal cities in the district include Oklahoma City (the state capital), Edmond, Shawnee, Seminole, and Yukon. The district is currently represented by Republican Stephanie Bice. She was first elected in 2020, defeating one-term incumbent Democrat Kendra Horn.

Hall Park is a neighborhood in Norman, Oklahoma. It was originally a town in Cleveland County, Oklahoma, United States and part of the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Area. It began in the 1960s and is named after the founder Ike Hall. At the time of the 2000 census, the town population was 1,088 prior to becoming part of the City of Norman. Hall Park is notable for being established as Oklahoma's first "all-electric" town. Ronald Reagan, then a spokesman for General Electric, visited Hall Park upon its opening and was bestowed an honorary mayoralty. Hall Park was unique in establishing common-area backyards, resulting in a lot of public space per square mile. Financial and infrastructure troubles plagued Hall Park throughout its history. The arsenic groundwater regulations established in January 2001 resulted in Hall Park's only independent water sources being declared in violation of federal drinking water standards. In 2003, Hall Park was annexed by Norman, and ceased to be a town, becoming instead a group of housing subdivisions. Ike Hall's daughter purchased the Hall Park water tower, which now sits in her yard.

Newalla is an unincorporated community in eastern Oklahoma County, Oklahoma, United States. Newalla is an adaption of the Osage name for the Canadian River. The post office was opened June 22, 1904. Located just west of State Highway 270, north of Interstate 40, it is a part of the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Area. Newalla, with a current elevation of 1,148 feet, is located within the Eastern bounds of Oklahoma County and appears on the Harrah, Oklahoma U.S. Geological Survey Map due to their proximity. Newalla is a geographic area which spans unincorporated Oklahoma County and unincorporated Cleveland County (also referred to as Little Axe). Portions of Newalla are also within Oklahoma City Limits. School districts that provide educational services to the community are the following: McLoud Public Schools, Harrah Public School, Choctaw Public Schools, Little Axe Public Schools, Mid-Del Public Schools, as well as Norman and Moore Public Schools. The estimated population of Newalla, Oklahoma is currently at 9,514. Newalla has a site on the NRHP, being the Union School District 19 1/2 building. This is an historically black two-room schoolhouse with a poured-in-place concrete, partial, two-room basement constructed circa 1936. It is located at the southwest corner of 149th St. and S. Luther Rd.

OU-PRIME (Polarimetric Radar for Innovations in Meteorology and Engineering) was an advanced Doppler weather radar. It was completed in January 2009 after a ten-month construction period and commissioned on April 4, 2009. It is operated by the Advanced Radar Research Center (ARRC) at the University of Oklahoma (OU). The radar was manufactured by Enterprise Electronics Corporation to provide OU students and faculty a platform for research and education in the field of radar meteorology. This C-band polarimetric radar has some of the highest resolution data of any C-band weather radar in the United States.OU-PRIME was struck by lightning on 19 March 2012 around 9:20am local time. Since then, the radar has not been operated due to damage.
