Litcham Common

Litcham School is a mixed all-through school located in the village of Litcham in the English county of Norfolk. It has around 640 pupils aged 4–16 (Years R-11), and the current headteacher is Robert Martlew. Litcham School is coeducational and pupils are admitted without regard to ability. In September 2012 the school governing bodies of Litcham High School and Litcham Primary School merged, creating a school catering for pupils from ages 4 to 16. Operationally the two schools maintain their current primary and secondary structure on their existing sites.Litcham is part of the Synergy Multi-academy Trust, which is centred on Reepham High School.

Litcham is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It is situated some 10 km (6.2 mi) north-east of the town of Swaffham and 40 km (25 mi) west of the city of Norwich. The village is located on the B1145 a route which runs between King's Lynn and Mundesley. The civil parish has an area of 7.89 km2 (3.05 sq mi) and in the 2001 census had a population of 592 in 257 households at the time of the 2001 census, increasing to a population of 618 in 217 households at the 2011 Census. For the purposes of local government, the parish falls within the district of Breckland. Litcham is in the Launditch hundred of the Breckland district of Norfolk, England. It is almost equidistant from three major market towns: East Dereham, Fakenham and Swaffham. The Bull Inn is a 17th-century coaching inn with parts dating back to the 14th century. It is the one surviving of many pubs once serving the village. The village has all the necessary amenities such as a post office, butchers, church, Methodist chapel, bus garage, fish and chip shop and health centre.

Kempstone is a village situated in Breckland District of Norfolk and covers an area of 331 hectares (1.3 square miles) with an estimated population of 18 as of UK census 2001 At the 2011 Census the population remained less 100 and is included in the civil parish of Great Dunham. The village lies 1.2 miles (1.9 km) south of Litcham and 9.3 miles (15.0 km) by road east from Dereham. The villages name means 'Cymi's farm/settlement'. It is served by All Saints church, Litcham (with Kempston) in the Benefice of Litcham. It was once served by the now derelict St.Pauls

Great Dunham is a village situated in the Breckland District of Norfolk and covers an area of 818 hectares (3.16 square miles) with an estimated population of 325, including Kempstone and increasing to a measured population of 344 at the 2011 Census. The village lies 1.5 miles (2.4 km) north of its sister village Little Dunham and 7 miles (11 km) by road north east from Swaffham. The village's name means 'Hill homestead/village.' It is served by St Andrew's church in the Benefice of Great Dunham.Great Denham used to have a smock mill which was superseded by a tower mill, now derelict. There was once a Dunham railway station serving the two sister settlements. It is now closed.

Fransham railway station is a former station in Great Fransham, Norfolk. It was opened as part of the Lynn and Dereham Railway, becoming part of the East Anglian Railway from 1847, on the section of line between Dereham and Swaffham.

East Lexham is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Lexham, in the Breckland district, in the English county of Norfolk. It is 7.7 miles (12.4 km) north of the town of Swaffham, 30.1 miles (48.4 km) west north west of Norwich and 106 miles (171 km) north east of London. In 1931 the parish had a population of 160.

Great Fransham is a village and former civil parish in the Breckland district, in the county of Norfolk, England, roughly about an equal distance between Swaffham and Dereham. There is also a Little Fransham; the two villages, both now part of the parish of Fransham, were once served by Fransham railway station. In 1931 the parish had a population of 222. On 1 April 1935 the parish was abolished and merged to form Fransham.The villages name origin is uncertain either, 'homestead/village' or 'hemmed-in land' with an unknown personal name.

Beeston is a village in the county of Norfolk, England, in the civil parish of Beeston with Bittering , west of East Dereham and south of Fakenham. It may also be known as Beeston All Saints or Beeston-next-Mileham to distinguish it from the three other villages in Norfolk named Beeston. Sir William Calthorpe made presentations to the rectory of Beeston in 1460, 1481 and 1492.Keith Skipper, Eastern Daily Press journalist and champion of the Norfolk dialect, was born in the village.

Dunham railway station was located in Little Dunham, Norfolk on the Great Eastern Railway line between Swaffham and Dereham. It closed in 1968 . Beeching's report intended to retain the King's Lynn - Dereham - Norwich line (which was in fact closed).

Fransham is a civil parish in the Breckland District of the English county of Norfolk; it covers an area of 12.14 km2 (4.7 sq mi), and includes the villages of Great and Little Fransham and the hamlet of Crane's End. Fransham has an estimated population of 430 as of 2007. It lies 6 miles (9.7 km) east from Swaffham and 6+1⁄2 miles (10.5 km) west from Dereham. The local pub in Little Fransham, the Canary and Linnet is just off the A47. Its name derives from the fact that the village is halfway between Norwich and King's Lynn ('Canaries' and 'Linnets' being the respective nicknames of Norwich City and King's Lynn Town football clubs). Great Fransham had a public house called Chequers which is now a private dwelling. Great Fransham is served by All Saints church and Little Fransham by St.Marys both in the Benefice of Great Dunham.There is a commercially working forge with public demonstrations available.

Little Dunham is a village situated in the Breckland District of Norfolk and covers an area of 749 hectares (2.9 square miles) with a population of 309 at the 2001 census. The village lies 1+1⁄2 miles (2.4 km) south of its sister village Great Dunham and 6 miles (10 km) by road north east from Swaffham. Little Dunham is served by the church of St Margaret in the Benefice of Great Dunham.Great Dunham Primary School serves the village. The unusual Fransham Obelisk raised in the memory of Lord Nelson is in Little Dunham. Thomas Pell Platt, orientalist went to school in Little Dunham.

Mileham is a village approximately midway between East Dereham and Fakenham in Mid Norfolk with a population of 563 people in 2011. The village sits astride the B1145 Kings Lynn to Mundesley road that dissects Mid Norfolk west to east. It is the old coaching road from Kings Lynn to Norwich and then on to Great Yarmouth. The name Mileham comes from the presence of a mill; the base of the last one can still be seen from the Litcham Road. (There is a possibility that it may be linked to a Saxon water mill.) There is also a "Mill Farm" to the west of the village. Mileham is a linear settlement in 'High Norfolk', and is also a 'Conservation Village', centred on Burwood Hall, The Church, The Castle, Park Farm, Old Hall Farm and Manor Farm. There are ruins of a Norman castle (now a nature reserve) near to the site of the Roman Camp and a church, St John the Baptist, with some rare stained glass windows.
