The Heysel Stadium disaster (Italian: Strage dell'Heysel [ˈstraʤe ˈdel ˈhaɪzl̩]; German: Katastrophe von Heysel [ˈhaɪzl̩]; French: Drame du Heysel [ɛzɛl]; Dutch: Heizeldrama [ˈɦɛizəlˌdraːmaː]) was a crowd disaster that occurred on 29 May 1985 when mostly Juventus fans escaping from a breach by Liverpool fans were pressed against a collapsing wall in the Heysel Stadium in Brussels, Belgium, before the start of the 1985 European Cup Final between the Italian and English clubs. 39 people—mostly Italians and Juventus fans—were killed and 600 were injured in the confrontation.Approximately an hour before the Juventus–Liverpool final was due to kick off, Liverpool supporters charged at Juventus supporters and breached a fence that was separating them from a "neutral area". The cause of the rampage has been attributed by eyewitnesses to Liverpool fans who had been drinking heavily. Juventus fans ran back on the terraces and away from the threat into a concrete wall. Fans already standing near the wall were crushed; eventually the wall collapsed, allowing others to escape. Many people climbed over to safety, but many others died or were badly injured. The game was played despite the pre-match incidents by authorities and organizers' joint decision for public policy doctrine reasons after being declared a state of siege in the city, with Juventus winning 1–0.The tragedy resulted in all English football clubs being placed under an indefinite ban by Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) from all European competitions (lifted in 1990–91), with Liverpool being excluded for an additional two years, later reduced to one, and fourteen Liverpool fans found guilty of manslaughter and each sentenced to six years' imprisonment. The disaster was later described as "the darkest hour in the history of the UEFA competitions".

The King Baudouin Stadium (French: Stade Roi Baudouin [stad ʁwɑ bodwɛ̃]; Dutch: Koning Boudewijnstadion [ˌkoːnɪŋ ˈbʌudəʋɛinˌstaːdijɔn]) is a sports ground in north-west Brussels, Belgium. Located in the Heysel section of the Brussels municipality, it was built to embellish the Heysel plateau in view of the 1935 Brussels International Exposition. It was inaugurated on 23 August 1930, with Crown Prince Leopold attending the opening ceremony. The stadium hosted 70,000 at the time. A wooden track for cycling races was later added around the pitch. Its name honours Baudouin of Belgium, Leopold's son and successor as King of the Belgians, from 1951 to his death in 1993.

It is located in Laeken, in the northwest of the City of Brussels (Belgium), and serves the Heysel/Heizel Plateau, famous for the World's Fairs of 1935 and 1958, the King Baudouin Stadium (formerly known as the Heysel Stadium) and the Atomium. The Bruparck entertainment park (with among others Mini-Europe miniature park and Kinepolis cinema) and the Centenary Palace, home to the Brussels Exhibition Centre (Brussels Expo), are also located nearby. The station opened on 5 July 1985. Prior to 1998, it was the western terminus of former line 1A (now line 6). The line was expanded to the King Baudouin metro station for the 2000 UEFA European Football Championship. It offers a connection with tram route 7 as well as bus routes 84 and 88.

The Atomium, a symbolic 103-metre-tall (338 ft) modernist structure, originally built for Expo 58, is the most impressive monument on the Heysel Plateau and is now considered a landmark of Brussels. Opposite it, the Centenary Palace is one of the lasting remaining buildings of the 1935 World's Fair. It was also the venue for the 32nd Eurovision Song Contest in 1987. Currently, it is home to the Brussels Exhibition Centre (Brussels Expo), the city's most important event complex in Belgium and the largest exhibition space in the Benelux.The Heysel Plateau was also the location of the Heysel Stadium, Belgium's former national stadium, originally built in 1930. After the Heysel Stadium disaster of 1985, which claimed the lives of 39 spectators at the European Cup final, it was demolished and in its place was built the more modern and secure King Baudouin Stadium. The Bruparck entertainment park (with among others Mini-Europe miniature park and Kinepolis cinema) and the Planetarium of the Royal Observatory of Belgium are also located there, as is the Palais 12/Paleis 12, a large and modern multiuse indoor arena with a maximum capacity of 15,000 people. The Dielegembos (Dutch) or Bois de Dieleghem (French) is a public forest in the municipality of Jette in Brussels, Belgium. It covers an area of 9 hectares (22 acres) and was acquired by the municipality in 1952. Along with the Poelbos and the Laarbeekbos, the Dielegembos is an integral part of the regional King Baudouin Park.The forest is located between the Avenue Jean Joseph Crocq/Jean Joseph Crocqlaan, the Rue Bonaventure/Bonaventurestraat, the Avenue du Heymbosch/Heymboschlaan, the Avenue Henri Liebrecht/Henri Liebrechtlaan, and the Avenue Jacques Swartenbrouck/Jacques Swartenbroucklaan.

Located on the Heysel/Heizel Plateau in Laeken (northern part of the City of Brussels), the twelve halls that comprise it are used for the largest national and international trade fairs, exhibitions and other events. With 115,000 m2 (1,240,000 sq ft) of facility space, they constitute the largest exhibition space in the Benelux. They are also a remarkable witness to the evolution of construction techniques during the 20th century.

Houba-Brugmann is a Brussels metro station on line 6. It opened on 5 July 1985 and is located under Avenue Houba De Strooper/Houba De Strooperlaan, near Brugmann University Hospital, in Laeken, in the northwest of the City of Brussels (Belgium). It is jointly named after the city official Louis Houba and the 19th-century philanthropist Georges Brugmann.

Mini-Europe has reproductions of monuments in the European Union and other countries within the continent of Europe on display, at a scale of 1:25. Roughly 80 cities and 350 buildings are represented. Mini-Europe receives 350,000 visitors per year and has a turnover of €4 million.The park contains live action models such as trains, mills, an erupting Mount Vesuvius, and cable cars. The Atomium ( ə-TOH-mee-əm, French: [atɔmjɔm], Dutch: [aːˈtoːmijəm]) is a landmark building in Brussels, Belgium, originally constructed for the 1958 Brussels World's Fair (Expo '58). It is located on the Heysel/Heizel Plateau in Laeken (northern part of the City of Brussels), where the exhibition took place. Nowadays, it is the city's most popular tourist attraction, and serves as a museum, an art centre and a cultural place.Designed by the engineer André Waterkeyn and the architects André and Jean Polak, it stands 102 metres (335 ft) tall. Its nine 18-metre-diameter (59 ft) stainless steel clad spheres are connected in the shape of a unit cell that could represent an iron crystal magnified 165 billion times. Tubes connecting the spheres enclose stairs, escalators and an elevator (in the central, vertical tube) to allow access to the six visitable spheres, which contain exhibit halls and other public spaces. The top sphere includes a restaurant with a panoramic view of Brussels. The building was completely renovated between 2004 and 2006 by the companies Jacques Delens and BESIX.The building is located on the Square de l'Atomium/Atomiumsquare, at the intersection of the Boulevard du Centenaire/Eeuwfeestlaan with the Avenue de l'Atomium/Atomiumlaan and the Avenue de Bouchout/Boechoutlaan.
