It is managed by Northern, who also provide all the passenger services calling there. It is unstaffed, and has no permanent buildings, other than standard waiting shelters. A long line PA system and digital information screens are provided, Step free access for disabled travellers is provided by means of ramps to each platform.As of January 2018, along with other stations on this line, a new touch screen Ticket Machine was added to the station. A £2,000 refurbishment scheme at the station, funded by East Lancs Community Rail Partnership and the local authority, was carried out in 2015, by a consortium of college students, community workers and volunteers.

It had a population of 467 in the 2001 census, reducing to 446 at the 2011 census.It is a rural village set on a hillside above the River Darwen. The village was listed in the Domesday Book as Plesigtune, a name which means "a settlement owned by Plessa's People".Pleasington railway station is on the East Lancashire Line with trains to destinations including the nearby towns of Blackburn and Preston. The Roman Catholic Church of St Mary and St John Baptist [1] in the village is known as Pleasington Priory and was built between 1816 and 1819 in a Gothic style. It is one of only two Grade I Listed buildings in the borough of Blackburn with Darwen.Pleasington Old Hall is another historic building, built in 1587, and is Grade II Listed. A nature reserve[2] near the hall was declared in 2006.Also near the village is Pleasington Playing Fields, a large outdoor sports facility with 12 football pitches opened in 1963 by Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh as King George's Fields. Witton Country Park is connected to the playing fields by a bridge over the River Darwen. Overlooking the area is Pleasington Cemetery, the main cemetery and crematorium for the Blackburn area. Pleasington is on the National Cycle Network Route 6, one of the main national bicycle routes in the UK, which is planned to connect Windsor to the Lake District.

It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building. The architectural historian Nikolaus Pevsner describes it as being "an astonishing church", and the citation in the National Heritage List for England states it is an "exceptional form of Catholic chapel for the period before Emancipation".

Abbey Village is a village in the English county of Lancashire and the constituency of Chorley. It is located on the A675 road, six miles (10 km) from Blackburn, eight miles from Chorley, nine miles (14 km) from Preston and ten miles from Bolton.

Riley Green is a hamlet, part of the civil parish of Hoghton, within the Borough of Chorley, Lancashire, England. It is located at the junction of the A675 and A6061 roads, between Preston, Blackburn and Chorley. The hamlet consists of a small number of houses and two pubs - the Royal Oak on the A6061, and the Boatyard on the A675 beside the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. Most of the surrounding area is pasture land. There is also a marina at The Boatyard, where many narrowboats are moored, and some are for hire, and there is a cruising restaurant. The original route to Hoghton Tower starts in Riley Green, however it is now only a track as a new route was built straight up to the Tower when motorised transport came to pass. The village is on the Blackburn Bus Company bus route from Burnley to Preston (route 152) and near junction 3 of the M65. Boats were formerly constructed at the Boat Yard in the village which the Boatyard pub is named after. The Boatyard was refurbished by the brewery Thwaites in 2016 and reopened as the Grill and Grain but was destroyed by fire in 2017.

Livesey is a civil parish in the unitary borough of Blackburn with Darwen, in the ceremonial county of Lancashire, England. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 6,202.

Hoghton Tower is a fortified manor house two-thirds of a mile (1 km) east of the village of Hoghton, Lancashire, England, and standing on a hilltop site on the highest point in the area. It takes its name from the de Hoghton family, its historical owners since at least the 12th century. The present house dates from about 1560–65. It was damaged during the Civil War and subsequently became derelict, but was rebuilt and extended between 1862 and 1901. The house is listed at Grade I, as is the Great Barn in its grounds, which is dated 1692. Also in the grounds are two structures listed at Grade II. The house and garden are open to the public at advertised times, and are administered by a charitable trust, the Hoghton Tower Preservation Trust.
