Glanrhyd railway station served the town of Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire, Wales, from 1858 to 1955 on the Vale of Towy Railway.

On 19 October 1987, a train on the Heart of Wales line derailed and fell into the River Towy due to the partial collapse of the Glanrhyd Bridge near Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire. Four people died as a result of the tragedy; the driver and three of the passengers drowned.

Y Garn Goch is a hill in the Brecon Beacons National Park in the east of Carmarthenshire, Wales. The name means the 'red cairn'. It lies near the village of Bethlehem, three miles southwest of Llangadog and four miles east of Llandeilo on the southern side of the broad Towy Valley. It is also commonly known as either Garn Goch or Carn Goch. Current owners and land managers are the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority.

Manordeilo is a village in Carmarthenshire, Wales, near the River Tywi.

Manordeilo and Salem (Welsh: Maenordeilo a Salem) is a community located in Carmarthenshire, Wales. The population taken at the 2011 census was 1,754.The community is bordered by the communities of: Talley; Llansadwrn; Llangadog; Dyffryn Cennen; Llandeilo; Llangathen; and Llanfynydd, all being in Carmarthenshire. Villages include Manordeilo, Salem, Halfway, Cwmifor and Capel Isaac.

The Afon Sawdde is a river in the county of Carmarthenshire, Wales. For most of its course it flows through the Brecon Beacons National Park and Fforest Fawr Geopark.

Llangadog railway station serves the village of Llangadog near Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire. The station is on the Heart of Wales Line 36+1⁄2 miles (59 km) north east of Swansea. The station is located at street level at Station Road beside the River Brân. The Garn Goch Iron Age hill fort is about three miles away from this station. All trains serving the station are operated by Transport for Wales. Like several others on the line, it has an automated half barrier level crossing at one end (in this case the northern one). The barrier sequence for northbound trains has to be initiated by the train crew, so the booked stop here for these is a mandatory one. Southbound trains trigger the crossing using a treadle on approach, so only have to stop here on request.

Cwmifor is a small village in Carmarthenshire. It is a part of the Manordeilo and Salem community and is located between Llandeilo and Llandovery, near the A40. The village consists of a number of dispersed farmhouses, most of which were built in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. In the twentieth century, a number of small houses were built near to the A40, transforming the village into a 'small nucleated settlement'.

Llangadog () is a village and community in Carmarthenshire, Wales, which also includes the villages of Bethlehem and Capel Gwynfe. A notable local landscape feature is Y Garn Goch with two Iron Age hill forts.Llangadog was the administrative centre of the commote of Perfedd and had a castle, destroyed in 1204. Although the borough declined in the Middle Ages, Llangadog retained its market, which was frequented by drovers into the 19th century. The railway station on the Heart of Wales Line provides regular train services via Transport for Wales Rail. The station had a siding for accessing the Co-op Wholesale Society creamery, allowing milk trains to access the site. After railway access was ceased in the late 1970s, the creamery continued to operate until 2005, when it closed with the loss of 200 jobs. The site has since been redeveloped as a pet food factory.

Llansadwrn (; Welsh: [ɬanˈsadʊn]; ) is a small village and community in Carmarthenshire, Wales. It is located in the countryside above the valley of the River Tywi, about halfway between Llandovery (Welsh: Llanymddyfri) to the north-east, and Llandeilo to the south-west. It is just off the A40 road, between Carmarthen (about 20 miles SW) and Brecon (about 25 miles E). The community is bordered by the Carmarthenshire communities of Cynwyl Gaeo, Llanwrda, Myddfai, Llangadog, Manordeilo and Salem, and Talley.

Talley Road Halt railway station served the town of Llandeilo, in the historical county of Glamorganshire, Wales, from 1859 to 1955 on the Vale of Towy Railway.

Trichrug (also referred to as Pen-y-bicws) is a hill four miles east of Llandeilo and 3 miles south of Llangadog in the county of Carmarthenshire, southwest Wales. It lies within the Brecon Beacons National Park and Fforest Fawr Geopark. Its summit at a height of 415m above sea level is marked by a trig point. It is a Marilyn with a prominence of 191 metres.
