Uran taluka is a taluka in Raigad district of the Indian state of Maharashtra.

Mora is a port serving the town of Uran in Maharashtra, India. Ferry services connect to Ferry Wharf and Gateway of India in Mumbai. Occupation of the inhabitants is mostly fishing related, where in women mostly sell fish in Mumbai, Mora and Uran. Men especially have shifted to various other professions due to increased literacy and financial risks involved in fishing. Most of the population is Hindu, the town is well known for its temples in particular the Sai Baba temple near the ferry booking office which observes a number of devotees from nearby region mostly gathering on Thursdays. Situated across the wharf, the main road passes through the plant name Grindwell Norton Limited and ends at Naval Station Karanja Gate which is highly restricted defence zone. Besides there is an ancient Hindu temple functional were people had a very strong belief and faith name Shri Umberdev Mandir which was built in the year 1835. This temple is also known for its Annual Festival (village carnival) called Jatra which is celebrated every year in the month of May. The only bank nearby village is Syndicate Bank which is one of the oldest and major commercial bank located at Uran-Mora road near Ekvira Devi Mandir. Mora has Police station near the Jetty overlooking the bay of Bombay.

The Dronagiri is a node of Navi Mumbai in Raigad district. It is located at the Southern tip of Navi Mumbai metropolis and spread over 1,250 hectares of land. The zone is located to the east of Uran town in Navi Mumbai, and is bound by the Karanja River on the south-east. Residential areas are located to the west and north-west of the zone, while the Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT) area and township are located towards the north of the zone. The zone is adjacent to the JNPT port, and is located farthest from the central business districts of Belapur, Nerul and Vashi. Due to its proximity to the port, this zone is ideal for port-based industries.

Uran City railway station is a proposed railway station in Raigad district, Maharashtra. Its code is UNCT. It serves Uran City a node of Navi Mumbai. In 1995, CIDCO has implemented a six-corridor railway project including the Mankhurd–CBD Belapur–Panvel Railway Line and Panvel/CBD Belapur–Uran Railway Line with an expenditure on a ratio of 67:33; ₹466 crore (US$69 million) from Indian Railways and ₹946 crore (US$140 million) from CIDCO.The Uran railway station will lie on Panvel/Belapur–Uran Corridor Line was originally planned in 1996, but later it was halted due to unknown reasons in 2008.

The 2010 Mumbai oil spill occurred after the Panama-flagged MV MSC Chitra (IMO: 7814838) and MV Khalijia 3 (IMO: 8128690) collided off the coast of India near Mumbai on Saturday, 7 August 2010 at around 9:50 am local time. MSC Chitra, which was outbound from South Mumbai's Nava Sheva port, collided with the inbound Khalijia-III, which caused about 200 cargo containers from MSC Chitra to be thrown into the Arabian Sea. Khalijia-III was apparently involved with another mishap on 18 July 2010.

Dronagiri railway station is a proposed railway station in Navi Mumbai's Raigad district, Maharashtra. Its code is DRNGR. It will serve Dronagiri area of Navi Mumbai, near Uran, Navi Mumbai. The station proposed includes two platforms.

Uran Gas Turbine Power Station is a gas-based thermal power plant located at Uran in Raigad district, Maharashtra. The power plant is operated by the Maharashtra State Power Generation Company (Mahagenco).

The Middle Ground Coastal Battery is a heritage site of an antique coastal artillery battery managed by the Indian Navy on an islet off the coast of Mumbai, India. It is situated on Middle Ground isle in Mumbai Harbour, a few hundred metres away from the Gateway of India, in Thane Creek.

Jawaharlal Nehru Port, also known as JNPT and Nhava Sheva Port, is the second largest container port in India after Mundra Port. Operated by the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust Authority (JNPTA), it is located on the eastern shores of Arabian Sea in Navi Mumbai, Raigad district, Maharashtra. This port can be accessed via Thane Creek, a nodal city of Navi Mumbai. It is the main port of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region after Mumbai Port, also of Maharashtra and Western India. Its common name derives from the names of Nhava and Sheva villages that are situated here. It is also the terminal of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor. As of January 2023, the port is undergoing upgrades with the help of a loan agreement signed between the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Nhava Sheva Freeport Terminal Private Limited (NSFTPL). The loan of $131 million will be used to improve the terminal's infrastructure, increase its container handling capacity, upgrade existing berths and yards, and install energy-efficient equipment. The upgrades aim to attract vessels and make international trade more efficient, transparent and sustainable.

Butcher Island (Jawahar Dweep) is an island off the coast of Mumbai, India. It has an oil terminal used by the port authorities to offload it from oil tankers. The crude oil is stored in oil containers on the island. From there they are piped to Wadala, in Mumbai where they are refined. This keeps the city relatively safe from a mishap. Tenders have been invited to develop a second oil terminal. The dredging works are currently being undertaken to improve the navigable depths in and around the new terminal. It is a restricted area and most of the island is covered with dense vegetation. A hillock rises from the centre of the island. It is located 8.25 kilometres (5.13 mi) from the Gateway of India. The main advantage of the island is to protect Mumbai and surrounding populated areas of the city from the direct effects of accidents like explosions, fire and pollution usually associated with the handling of crude and other petroleum products.
