Damery Road Section (grid reference ST705943) is a 0.5-hectare (1.2-acre) geological Site of Special Scientific Interest north of Tortworth, South Gloucestershire, notified in 1974.

Alkington is a civil parish in the district of Stroud, Gloucestershire. It had a population of 638 in the 2001 census, increasing to 688 at the 2011 census. There is no Alkington village, the parish consists of various hamlets, including Woodford, Newport and Lower Wick. The parish adjoins the Stroud parishes of Ham and Stone to the west; Hamfallow to the north; Stinchcombe to the north-east; North Nibley to the east. The South Gloucestershire parishes of Charfield and Tortworth lie to the south and south-west respectively. Alkington was in Thornbury Rural District until the RDC was abolished in 1974. The greater part was transferred into the new county of Avon, as part of the new district of Northavon but a group of parishes in the north of the district, around Berkeley, wished not to transfer into the new county, but chose instead to remain with Gloucestershire, under the new Stroud District Council. These were the parishes of Hinton, Hamfallow, Ham and Stone, Alkington, and Berkeley itself. With the demise of Avon, in 1996, Alkington remained with the main county of Gloucestershire.

Lower Wick is a small hamlet located in the county of Gloucestershire, England. It is situated about five miles south west of Dursley, eighteen miles southwest of Gloucester and fifteen miles northeast of Bristol. Lower Wick is within the civil parish of Alkington.The hamlet contains approximately 17 homes (including the old school house, now converted into a dwelling) and a restaurant. Most of the older properties were built by the Berkeley family who once owned much of the land. One of the farms in the hamlet still has a working wind pump in use today which is over one hundred years old.

Tortworth is a small village and civil parish, near Thornbury in Gloucestershire, England. It has a population of 147 as of 2011. It lies on the B4509 road, which crosses the M5 motorway to the west of Tortworth.

Tortworth Court is a Victorian mansion in Tortworth near Thornbury, South Gloucestershire. England. It was built in Tudor style for the 2nd Earl of Ducie. It is a Grade II* listed building.

Stone is a small village in the parish of Ham and Stone, Gloucestershire, England. It stands on the A38 road, just south-west of its crossing of the Little Avon River, roughly halfway between Bristol and Gloucester at grid reference ST684953. It is adjacent to the county boundary with South Gloucestershire. The part of the community just north-east of the river is called Woodford. In 2019 it had an estimated population of 527.The village of Stone has a church, a village green, a Church of England primary school and a village hall. The village also had a pub, the Berkeley Vale Hotel, but this was closed in 2013 and has been redeveloped.The village has many links with the town of Berkeley, some 2+1⁄2 miles (4 km) to the north. Also to the north lies the village of Newport.

Newport is a village in Alkington parish, Gloucestershire, England. Located along the A38 road roughly halfway between Bristol and Gloucester. It is located about a mile south-east of Berkeley and just north of Woodford. It is on the Doverte Brook, a tributary of the Little Avon River. Its pub ('The Stagecoach'), formerly the White Hart, closed in 2021 and is now a Day Nursery. A closed down motel ('The Newport Towers') is being redeveloped as a housing estate, and there is a small non-conformist chapel. The chapel is closed on October 2006 and has been converted into a house. It had a Georgian Interior with hat pegs and galleries and several broken harmoniums. Prior to the advent of the motor car, the journey between Bristol and Gloucestershire took a whole day. It was a perfect staging point for stagecoaches at that time. There were many inns, some catering for the post. The coaches would have a change of horses, the coachmen and passengers having a mid-journey rest stop.

The Battle of Nibley Green was fought near North Nibley in Gloucestershire on 20 March 1470, between the troops of Thomas Talbot, 2nd Viscount Lisle and William Berkeley, 2nd Baron Berkeley. It is notable for being the last battle fought in England entirely between the private armies of feudal magnates.

Slickstones Quarry, Cromhall (grid reference ST704916) is a 2.7 hectare geological Site of Special Scientific Interest near the village of Cromhall, South Gloucestershire, England notified in 1966. The site shows red Triassic rocks in fissures of older carboniferous limestone.The quarry is home to South West Maritime Academy, offering both Diving and Open Water Swimming in the 4 hectare quarry lake as well as a broader site use for commercial maritime safety training by the Academy including STCW, STCW Update, marine engineering and deckhand courses as well as various RYA course offerings. The lake can be used by diving trainees as there is a sloping entry (former road) and a pontoon which is also used as an entry point for the swimmers.

Falfield is a village, located near the northern border of the South Gloucestershire district of Gloucestershire, England on the southern edge of the Berkeley Vale, to the east of the River Severn and just falling into the boundary of the Cotswolds. It is the last parish on the northern boundary of South Gloucestershire. The area has a Wotton-under-Edge (GL12) post code and so is often incorrectly listed as being in the Stroud district of Gloucestershire. Falfield is one of the longest villages in England, alongside local village Cromhall. There are approximately 200 houses in the village with a population of some 500, increasing to 762 at the 2011 census. The nearest town to the village is Thornbury approximately 7 miles to the south. The nearest major cities are Bristol 16 miles to the South and Gloucester 18 miles to the North, and is often referred to as the midpoint between the two. Falfield is clustered mainly along the A38 road. It is also the first stop from Junction 14 of the M5. The shape of the parish is long in its length and narrow in its width. Both the A38 and M5 run through the village from north to south. It has a large garden centre, and two prisons (Eastwood Park and Leyhill) nearby. The village also includes St George's Church, The Huntsman Inn, a village hall, a small shop, a car dealership and several farms as well as 1st Falfield Scout Association who are celebrating their 40th anniversary in 2013 and 1st Falfield & Stone Brownies part of Girlguiding who are celebrating their 20th anniversary in 2016. Falfield St George's Church is famous for being the burial place of Conservative politician Sir George Jenkinson, who died in 1892. Politically, Falfield comes under the constituency of Thornbury & Yate, which is currently a Conservative Party seat held by Luke Hall.
