Woodside is part of the city of Aberdeen. It came into existence as a quoad sacra parish within the parish of Old Machar in 1834, under an act of The General Assembly of the Church of Scotland of 31 May 1834 (IX. Sess. 10, 31 May 1834. – Declaration Enactment as to Chapels of Ease), and was named for the principal residence of the area, Woodside House. Within this parish which was bounded to the north by the River Don there were three villages, Woodside, Tanfield and Cotton (also known as Nether Cottown). Its population in 1841 was 4,893 living in 440 houses. By 1868 it had become a police burgh and the community was being described as a village in its own right (distinct from the quoad sacra parish of which it was the largest part), and a suburb of Aberdeen. It was part of the Aberdeen Burgh Parliamentary constituency.By 1881, it had developed into a community of 5,452 (the population of quoad sacra parish population growing to 5,928). It had its own separate post office, a railway station, paper works, a free library, a public school, and a number of churches of various denominations. Ten years later, in 1891 it, (along with Old Aberdeen and Torry) was formally incorporated into the city of Aberdeen.

Tillydrone is an area of the city of Aberdeen, Scotland. Lying north of the city centre and slightly north-west of Old Aberdeen, it is roughly bounded by the River Don, St Machar Drive, and the main Aberdeen-Inverness railway line.The name is a corruption of the Scottish Gaelic "Tulach Droighne", meaning a knoll with thorn trees growing on it. The name is somewhat older than the housing estate which essentially comprises the area. It is colloquially referred to as Tilly. The estate was built as council housing and includes tower blocks and terraced tenement flats in addition to some low-rise terraced houses. As with most council housing stock in the United Kingdom, some of these properties have been purchased by their occupants. The proximity of the area to the University of Aberdeen results in some of the housing being rented to students. Tillydrone is considered to be an area of Aberdeen where poverty is commonplace and social class is low. The area has a number of shops and businesses including a pharmacy, a post office and an award winning butcher shop. There are also a school and care facilities for elderly people run by Aberdeen City Council. There is a Church of Scotland parish church - Saint George's Tillydrone Church - and the church building is regularly used for community meetings and by community groups such as the Girls' Brigade and Tillydrone Vision.The Scottish charity, Men and Boys Eating and Exercise Disorders Service SC044378 is based in Aberdeen. Between the main part of Tillydrone and the River Don is an extensive area of open and wooded land, which leads into the city's Seaton Park. At the edge of this, alongside Tillydrone Road, is the Wallace Tower, a turreted townhouse typical of pre-Georgian Aberdeen architecture which was moved stone by stone from its original city-centre location at the time of the construction of a Marks & Spencer shop next to the St. Nicholas Shopping Centre. An Aberdeen City Council "blueprint" has earmarked the area for extensive redevelopment along with five other areas within Aberdeen.A new bridge was constructed and opened in June 2016 over the River Don connecting the Tillydrone area with Bridge of Don

The Diamond Bridge, known during planning and construction as the Third Don Crossing, is a bridge across the River Don in Aberdeen, Scotland, which opened in 2016. It is the third crossing of the river open to all traffic between the suburbs of Bridge of Don and Aberdeen City, after the Bridge of Don and Persley Bridge.

Elphinstone Hall is a large hall belonging to the University of Aberdeen, located at their King's College campus in Old Aberdeen. It is a 20th-century building which replaced the "Common Hall" and is named after Bishop William Elphinstone, the founder of the University. An arcade dominates the front of the building, behind which lie a reception area and then the large, wood-panelled hall with hammerbeam roof. Portraits of founding fathers of the university and other key figures from its history line the walls. A related suite of luxurious rooms called the Linklater Rooms run along the arcade, named after writer Eric Linklater, a graduate of the university. The complex includes catering facilities as well as cloakroom facilities. In front of the hall is a large lawn, which is popular with students and staff of the university in summer. In winter, the university places a large Christmas tree on this lawn. The hall is currently the venue for all University of Aberdeen graduation ceremonies.

The Northern Hotel is a hotel in Aberdeen, Scotland. The hotel was listed for sale in 2017. In September 2022, the hotel was closed however the public bar remained open. The owner blamed the closure on rising energy costs. In April 2024, a developer proposed the conversion of the hotel into 47 student flats. The hotel is built from concrete and faced with granite. It was constructed in the Art Deco style and has four storeys. It was first listed in 1987 and was upgraded to Category A in 1990.

The Lang Stane in Hilton, Aberdeen, Scotland is a granite Menhir type standing stone with measurements of approximately 2.95 m in height, 1.5 m in breadth and 0.9 m in thickness at ground level. Its broad face is aligned WNW and ESE.In the immediate area of Aberdeen there are other standing stones with the same name, such as the Lang Stane at Langstane Place in Aberdeen city centre and the Lang Stane of Auquhollie just south Aberdeen.

Woodside (Aberdeen) railway station served the parish of Woodside, Aberdeen, Scotland from 1858 to 1937 on the Great North of Scotland Railway.

St Machar Academy is an Aberdeen City Council secondary school on St Machar Drive. It is near King's College and St Machar's Cathedral. St Machar Academy was created in 1988 from the merger of Hilton Academy and Powis Academy. In August 2002, Linksfield Academy was closed and merged with St Machar Academy.

There have been three Kittybrewster railway stations at Kittybrewster, Aberdeen. The first opened in 1854 as a terminus of the Great North of Scotland Railway's (GNoSR) first line to Huntly. This was replaced two years later by a station on a new line to a city terminus at Waterloo. It was replaced again when the Denburn Valley Line to Aberdeen Joint opened in 1867. The Great North of Scotland Railway amalgamated with other railways to form the London and North Eastern Railway in 1923 and became part of British Railways when the railways were nationalised in 1948. The station was recommended for closure by Dr Beeching's report "The Reshaping of British Railways" and closed on 6 May 1968. The line remains open as the Aberdeen to Inverness Line.

Aberdeen Kittybrewster station opened on 20 September 1854 to serve the Great North of Scotland Railway main line to Keith. It closed to passengers in 1856 once Aberdeen Waterloo opened and Kittybrewster (on the link to the Aberdeen Railway. The track remains in use as a freight siding for the docks.The station was 19 chains (380 m) south of the junction between the main line and the branch line to the docks, near where the A96 Powis Terrace now crosses the line.
