Penyard House, Ross-on-Wye

Weston under Penyard is a small village in Herefordshire, England. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 Census was 1,007.It lies on the A40 road two miles east of Ross-on-Wye. The Penyard is a prominent hill.

Weston under Penyard Halt railway station is a disused wood built railway station that served the village of Weston under Penyard in Herefordshire on the Hereford, Ross and Gloucester Railway. Opened in 1929 to compete with local road transport it was located on the Great Western Railway line linking Ross-on-Wye and Gloucester. Nothing remains of the station.

Ariconium was a road station of Roman Britain mentioned in Iter XIII of the Iter Britanniarum of the Antonine Itineraries. It was located at Bury Hill in the parish of Weston under Penyard, about 3 miles (5 km) east of Ross on Wye, Herefordshire, and about 15 miles (24 km) southeast of Hereford. The site existed prior to the Roman era, and then came under Roman control. It was abandoned, perhaps shortly after 360, but precisely when and under what circumstances is unknown. Discovered as a result of efforts to map the stations of the Antonine Itineraries, research and excavation have provided the only information on its history, to date showing it to have been a place of bloom furnaces, forges, and iron working throughout its existence.

Ross Spur Services is a southbound-only service area on the A449 at the end of the M50 motorway. Formerly operated by BP, it is now owned by Euro Garages and was planning to be expanding to incorporate drive-through restaurants with a seating area and a shop. A Starbucks was added with a drive through but the Burger King was not added at the time.

Ross-on-Wye railway station is a former junction railway station on the Hereford, Ross and Gloucester Railway constructed just to the north of the Herefordshire town of Ross-on-Wye. It was the terminus of the Ross and Monmouth Railway which joined the Hereford, Ross and Gloucester Railway just south of the station.

Hope Mansell is a village and civil parish in Herefordshire, England. In 2011 the civil parish had a population of 259. Hope Mansell is mentioned in the Domesday Book (1086) as Hope.

The Chase in Ross-on-Wye in Herefordshire is a house of historical significance. It was built in 1818 by an attorney and was a private residence of several notable people until it was sold in 1927. After that time it was converted to a hotel and was used for this purpose until September 2019. As a hotel, it had accommodation and restaurant facilities and catered for special events, particularly weddings. In January 2019 the owners held a pre-planning consultation for a proposal in which the original house would be restored and converted into flats and the grounds developed for housing.The proposal was controversial, and resulted in significant changes to the Ross on Wye Neighbourhood Plan, then being drawn up by Ross Town Council. A local campaign group, Save the Chase 2020, is opposed to any building on the green space, and would prefer the hotel to remain as a hotel and community leisure facility, if a suitable buyer can be found.

John Kyrle High School is a secondary school with academy status situated in Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, England. It is named after the philanthropist John Kyrle (1637–1724), known as "The Man of Ross".

The Lea Bailey Light Railway is a 2 ft (610 mm) narrow-gauge heritage railway in the United Kingdom. It is built on the site of the Bailey Level Gold Mine An attempt was made in 2003 by the owners of Clearwell Caves to open the mine as a tourist attraction, but this was ultimately unsuccessful. In 2012, a small group from the Royal Forest of Dean Caving Club discovered the mine and a quantity of disused railway equipment and proposed to the owners that a volunteer-led project could start work on restoring the site. As of 2014, two locomotives and a number of wagons have been moved to Lea Bailey from storage at Clearwell Caves or the nearby Hawthorn Tunnel.Part of the railway is laid on the trackbed of the disused Mitcheldean Road & Forest of Dean Junction Railway. In 2013 the Lea Bailey Light Railway Society was formed; its members act as volunteers, undertaking all aspects of work on the site. A regular free newsletter is produced and sent out by e-mail.
