WinStar Farm is an American Thoroughbred horse breeding and racing farm near Versailles, Kentucky, owned by Kenny Troutt. It won the 2010 Eclipse Award for Outstanding Owner and 2016 Outstanding Breeder. WinStar Farm owned 2018 Triple Crown winner Justify, 2010 Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver, 2010 Belmont Stakes winner Drosselmeyer, and 2016 Belmont Stakes winner Creator. Notable stallions that have stood at stud at Winstar Farm include two-time Breeders' Cup Classic winner Tiznow, leading sire and broodmare sire Distorted Humor, and Triple Crown and Breeders' Cup Classic winner American Pharoah's sire Pioneerof the Nile.

Three Chimneys Farm is an American Thoroughbred race horse breeding farm in Midway, Kentucky, established in 1972 by Mr. & Mrs. Robert N. Clay. Three Chimneys has been home to a number of famous horses including U.S. Triple Crown champion Seattle Slew, U.S. Filly Triple Crown champion Chris Evert, as well as Silver Charm, Chief's Crown, Genuine Risk, Point Given, Slew o' Gold, Capote, Smarty Jones, and Big Brown. In 2012, the Three Chimneys stallion roster includes Rahy, Point Given, Yes It's True, Flower Alley, Good Reward, Sky Mesa, War Chant, and Big Brown. Flower Alley sired the 2012 Kentucky Derby Winner and Preakness Stakes winner, I'll Have Another. In April 2008, The Kentucky region of the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Three Chimneys Farm teamed up to grant a young boy's wish of meeting Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner Smarty Jones. His experience was chronicled June 30 during SportsCenter's "My Wish" series on ESPN. Nine-year-old Patrick Munro of Greenlawn, N.Y. is one of five kids from the Make-A-Wish Foundation whose sports-related wish was highlighted on the SportsCenter series. Patrick, who suffers from hydrocephalus and, as a result, is blind and hearing impaired, spent several days in Central Kentucky in April. On the first day of his visit, Munro and his family were invited to Three Chimneys Farm to fulfill the boy's wish to meet Smarty Jones.

Pisgah is an unincorporated community in Woodford County, in the U.S. state of Kentucky.

The Redd Road Rural Historic District is a 1,646 acres (666 ha) historic district in Fayette County, Kentucky and Woodford County, Kentucky which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991. It is an area largely south and east of the junction of Redd and Frankfort Roads, and included 39 contributing buildings, 10 contributing structures, and 11 contributing sites.It consists of seven adjoining farmsteads.

The Kentucky Castle, also known as Castle Post, Martin Castle and Versailles Castle, is a castle in Kentucky, located in Versailles, Kentucky, near Lexington, Kentucky, 201 Pisgah Pike near the Woodford County line, part of a 50 acres (20 ha) estate.Visually situated off Lexington (Versailles) road, it overlooks the Elkhorn Creek watershed on the Woodford/ Fayette county line. Thirteen years after it was sold and received a major renovation, a new owner focused on revitalizing and remodeling the castle in 2017. Currently operating as a bed and breakfast and special functions facility, it hosts special events, weddings, and has an operational farm-to-table restaurant inside. In August 2023, TKC Hospitality Group purchased the castle for $19 million.

Belle Reve Farm is a horse farm located in Versailles, Kentucky that was owned by actor William Shatner, a breeder of American Saddlebred show horses. His stallion Sultan's Great Day was a two-time world's champion performer, and the farm's premier breeding stallion until his death in 2004. Great Day sired 95 foals that have won 342 ribbons at the World's Championship Horse Show in Louisville, KY. Great Day was named Saddle Horse Report’s leading sire of world's champions in 1994 and 1996, and was a Top 10 sire throughout his career.

Weisenberger Mills is the oldest continuously operating grain mill in Kentucky. Located about 3 miles (4.8 km) east of Midway, Kentucky, the property straddles Scott and Woodford counties, and the mill is located on the banks of South Elkhorn Creek with a milldam which provides the water to power the mill.Augustus Weisenberger purchased the property with mill in 1865. The current mill building was built in 1913 to replace the old 1818 stone one. The complex includes a 20 foot wheelhouse and a 1904 20,000 bushel ironclad grain elevator.The mill property and related buildings were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984, including 14 contributing buildings and two contributing structures on 87 acres (35 ha). As of 2023, the water-powered mill has been operated as a family business since the 1860's by six generations of Weisenbergers. The mill produces flour, meal, feed and baking mixes which are shipped throughout the country. All of their grains are sourced locally, within 100 miles.

Westmorland is a rural town west of Lexington, Kentucky, United States. It is located on the north side of Versailles Road between Rosalie Road and the Woodford County line. Notable residents include Kelton the Australian Shepherd and Molly the Welsh Corgi.

Stonewall Farm (also known as Stonewall Dominion) is a thoroughbred race horse breeding farm in Versailles, Kentucky established in 1852. It is named for its famous "stone wall" built during the Civil War by Irishman John Kearney in 1863. Originally owned by Major Warren Viley, it was known as Woodford (County) Stud. Lexington, Leading sire in North America 16 times, stood at stud there in the 1860s and 1870s.

Comair Flight 5191 (marketed as Delta Connection Flight 5191 under a codeshare agreement with Delta Air Lines) was a scheduled United States domestic passenger flight from Lexington, Kentucky, to Atlanta, Georgia. On the morning of August 27, 2006, at around 06:07 EDT (10:07 UTC),: 1  the Bombardier Canadair Regional Jet 100ER crashed while attempting to take off from Blue Grass Airport in Fayette County, Kentucky, 4 miles (6.4 km; 3.5 nmi) west of the central business district of the city of Lexington. The aircraft was assigned the airport's Runway 22 for the takeoff but used Runway 26 instead. Runway 26 was too short for a safe takeoff, causing the aircraft to overrun the end of the runway before it could become airborne. It crashed just past the end of the runway, killing all 47 passengers and two of the three crew. It was the second-deadliest accident involving the CRJ100/200; two years earlier, China Eastern Airlines Flight 5210 claimed 55 lives.The flight's first officer, James Polehinke, was the pilot flying at the time of the accident and was the sole survivor; however, Captain Jeffrey Clay was responsible for taxiing to the wrong runway. In the National Transportation Safety Board's report on the crash, investigators concluded that the likely cause of the crash was pilot error.
