Stonewall Farm (also known as Stonewall Dominion) is a thoroughbred race horse breeding farm in Versailles, Kentucky established in 1852. It is named for its famous "stone wall" built during the Civil War by Irishman John Kearney in 1863. Originally owned by Major Warren Viley, it was known as Woodford (County) Stud. Lexington, Leading sire in North America 16 times, stood at stud there in the 1860s and 1870s.

The Big Sink Rural Historic District, in Woodford County, Kentucky near Versailles, Kentucky, is a 5,000 acres (20 km2) historic district which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994. The listing included Number of 180 contributing buildings, 33 contributing structures, and 44 contributing sites.It is located west of Midway off Interstate 64. "The Big Sink Rural Historic District is located in northwest Woodford County, within the Inner Bluegrass region of Kentucky. The District contains the buildings, structures, sites and landscapes that are the physical evidence of historic events, lands use patterns, and associations of a rural agricultural community from c. 1775 through 1943 with significance on a national level. The majority of acres within the District include land that has been devoted to a variety of farming activities for over 200 years."It includes Airdrie, an estate including 650 acres (2.6 km2) of an original 2,000 acre area purchased by Robert Alexander in 1790. Airdrie includes 19 contributing buildings, including a c.1903 house, the W.E. Simms residence, built by R.W. Lacefield & Sons of Midway, which is "an impressive Colonial Revival mansion". It includes tenant houses, other buildings supporting the main house, and agricultural buildings, as well as a c.1917 landscape designed by landscape architect Jens Jensen. Its stone entry gates (c.1870) on the south side of the Old Frankfort Pike, are a contributing structure.It includes Woodburn, a two-room school.

Midway is a home rule-class city in Woodford County, Kentucky, in the United States. Its population was 1,741 at the time of the year 2020 U.S. census. It is part of the Lexington-Fayette Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town sits just off Interstate 64 and among several major thoroughbred breeding operations, such as Three Chimneys Farm and former Gov. Brereton Jones’ Airdrie Stud. In 2003, faced with a declining downtown, the city began major streetscape renovation project as part of Main Street Kentucky. New period structures and lighting brought new life to the town. It is known for its distinctive shops and restaurants. An active business association holds events every month of the year, and the city is a starting point or waypoint for several road races that wind through the surrounding countryside.

Midway University is a private Christian university in Midway, Kentucky. Related by covenant to the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), it enrolls approximately 1,900 students earning two-year and four-year degrees as well as master's degrees. Midway was the only women's college in Kentucky until 2016 when it began admitting male undergraduate students.

Lane's End Farm is a Thoroughbred horse breeding farm in Versailles, Kentucky established in 1979. The original land was part of Bosque Bonita Farm and was originally owned by Abraham Buford, a Confederate Army General. The land was later bought by horseman John H. Morris. Now owned and operated by the Farish family, Lane's End Farm has become one of the major breeding farms in North America.

Three Chimneys Farm is an American Thoroughbred race horse breeding farm in Midway, Kentucky, established in 1972 by Mr. & Mrs. Robert N. Clay. Three Chimneys has been home to a number of famous horses including U.S. Triple Crown champion Seattle Slew, U.S. Filly Triple Crown champion Chris Evert, as well as Silver Charm, Chief's Crown, Genuine Risk, Point Given, Slew o' Gold, Capote, Smarty Jones, and Big Brown. In 2012, the Three Chimneys stallion roster includes Rahy, Point Given, Yes It's True, Flower Alley, Good Reward, Sky Mesa, War Chant, and Big Brown. Flower Alley sired the 2012 Kentucky Derby Winner and Preakness Stakes winner, I'll Have Another. In April 2008, The Kentucky region of the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Three Chimneys Farm teamed up to grant a young boy's wish of meeting Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner Smarty Jones. His experience was chronicled June 30 during SportsCenter's "My Wish" series on ESPN. Nine-year-old Patrick Munro of Greenlawn, N.Y. is one of five kids from the Make-A-Wish Foundation whose sports-related wish was highlighted on the SportsCenter series. Patrick, who suffers from hydrocephalus and, as a result, is blind and hearing impaired, spent several days in Central Kentucky in April. On the first day of his visit, Munro and his family were invited to Three Chimneys Farm to fulfill the boy's wish to meet Smarty Jones.

Woodburn Stud was an American horse breeding farm located in Woodford County, Kentucky about ten miles (16 km) from the city of Lexington. It was established in the 18th century as an original land grant property of General Hugh Mercer to whom it had been granted for his military services during the American Revolutionary War. Robert Alexander (1767–1841), a Scottish immigrant, came to Virginia from Scotland in 1786. Around 1790 he purchased the Mercer estate in Kentucky. Under the guidance of his son, Robert A. Alexander, during the 19th century, Woodburn Stud became the birthplace of Kentucky's Thoroughbred industry.

Alexander Plantation House, also known as Lanark Farm, and Alexander's Plantation, is a former tobacco plantation and plantation house located near Midway in Woodford County, Kentucky.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 23, 1983, for historical, architectural, and engineering significance. The house is a five-bay two-story central hall plan stone house. The house consists of two early stone houses, which were moved in c. 1935 –1936 about a mile to the current location.

The Edward M. Blackburn House, near Midway, Kentucky, was built around 1810. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.It is a one-and-a-half-story Federal style brick house. Its main mass is five bays wide, and there are flanking one-room extensions and a rear ell. Its front entrance is a Palladian doorway with a fanlight.It has also been known as Equira and later as Hurstland Farm.It is located in Woodford County, Kentucky on Spring Station Rd.

Sodom is a ghost town in Woodford County, Kentucky, United States. Sodom was located a few hundred yards downstream from Fishers Mill road were there was a covered bridge, built in 1810 and replaced in 1947. The town was established in 1825 by George and James Ware, but had vanished by 1880. At its peak, It was the second largest city in Scott county (the largest being Georgetown). it had a population of 150, and included a cotton factory, hemp factory, tannery, shoe shop, carding machine, trading store, and a flour and grist mill. It is supposed that it was populated by many slaves that provided most of the labor. The town was named Sodom after the ancient city, because a tavern there owned by Richard Cole burned down in 1811.

WinStar Farm owned 2018 Triple Crown winner Justify, 2010 Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver, 2010 Belmont Stakes winner Drosselmeyer, and 2016 Belmont Stakes winner Creator. Notable stallions that have stood at stud at Winstar Farm include two-time Breeders' Cup Classic winner Tiznow, leading sire and broodmare sire Distorted Humor, and Triple Crown and Breeders' Cup Classic winner American Pharoah's sire Pioneerof the Nile.

The Pisgah Rural Historic District, in Fayette and Woodford counties near Versailles, Kentucky, is a 4,035 acres (16.33 km2) historic district which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.It is an area northeast of Versailles roughly bounded by S. Elkhorn Creek, U.S. Route 60, and Big Sink Rd. It includes Mid 19th Century Revival, Early Republic, Late Victorian architecture.The listing included 151 contributing buildings, 49 contributing structures, and 57 contributing sites.
