Ashwellthorpe and Fundenhall is a civil parish in the English county of Norfolk, situated some 6 km south-east of Wymondham and 20 km south-west of Norwich. The parish includes the villages of Ashwellthorpe and Fundenhall, which lie about 1 km apart, although rather farther by road.[1]The civil parish has an area of 9.74 km2 and in the 2001 census had a population of 756 in 301 households, the population falling to 750 at the 2011 Census. For the purposes of local government, the parish falls within the district of South Norfolk. Fundenhall was a separate parish until it was annexed by Ashwellthorpe in 1935. The combined parish was known as Ashwellthorpe until 2003, when it adopted its current name.[2][3][4]

Tacolneston Hall, in the village of Tacolneston in the county of Norfolk, has been the home of the Boileau baronets since the baronetcy was created in 1838.

The Tacolneston transmitting station is a facility for both analogue and digital VHF/FM radio and UHF television transmission near Tacolneston, 11 miles (18 km) south-west of Norwich, Norfolk, England. It includes a 206.1 metres (676 ft) tall guyed steel lattice mast, which was built between 2009 and 2012, and previously a 149.0 metres (489 ft) tall guyed steel lattice mast, which was built in 1956 (completed in late September/early October that year). On top of the current mast is located the UHF television transmitting antenna, which brings the overall height of the structure to 206.1 metres (676 ft) (the overall height of the previous mast being 165.0 metres (541 ft)).The transmitter provides broadcast television and radio services to Norfolk and north Suffolk. However, northwestern parts of Norfolk including King's Lynn and Wells-next-the-Sea receive better TV signals from the Belmont TV transmitter situated in north Lincolnshire but the local relay transmitters in both towns are transmitted from the Tacolneston transmitter.

Tacolneston () is a village and civil parish in the South Norfolk District of Norfolk with a population of around 700, measured at the 2011 Census as a population of 825. Its name occurs in the 1086 Domesday Book as Tacoluestuna and is theorized to come from Anglo-Saxon Tātwulfes tūn, meaning "Tātwulf's farmstead", via an old handwriting misread 'n' for 'u'. It is the location of the Tacolneston transmitting station, a facility for both analogue and digital VHF/FM radio and UHF television transmission. Tacolneston Church of England Primary School, which has around 80 pupils aged 5–11, is situated on Norwich Road.The village is the site of the historic All Saints' Parish Church, which has a ring of six bells in its tower, part of which dates from the 14th century.

The Murders at Stanfield Hall were a notorious Victorian era double murder on 28 November 1848 that was commemorated in print, pottery, wax, as well as a novel by Joseph Shearing. Additionally, it was the inspiration for the 1948 English film, Blanche Fury. The victims, Isaac Jermy and his son Isaac Jermy were shot and killed on the porch and in the hallway of their mansion, Stanfield Hall, Norwich. The perpetrator, James Bloomfield Rush (1800–1849), their delinquent tenant-farmer, who had conducted a complex, devious scheme to defraud them of their property and their lives, was hanged at Norwich Castle on 21 April 1849. The unwitting accomplice to the attempted fraud was Emily Sandford, whom Rush had employed as a governess but who was also his mistress.

Ashwellthorpe was a railway station that existed in the village of Ashwellthorpe, Norfolk, on a cutoff line between Forncett and Wymondham. This entry covers the history of the line and the station. The station and line was opened in 1881 with the passenger service being withdrawn in 1939 and the line closing in 1951 although a siding remained at the Wymondham end until 1976.

Royal Air Force Hethel or more simply RAF Hethel is a former Royal Air Force station (ICAO: EGSK) which was used by both the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) and the Royal Air Force (RAF) during the Second World War. The airfield is located 7 miles (11 km) south west of Norwich, Norfolk, England and is now owned by Lotus Cars.

Spink's Lane was a railway station on Spink's Lane on the eastern outskirts of Wymondham, Norfolk. It was opened very briefly in 1845 to trains on the line from Norwich. The Bill for the Norwich & Brandon Railway (N&BR) received Royal Assent on 10 May 1844. Work started on the line in 1844 and the line and its stations were opened on 30 July 1845. Spink's Lane station opened with the line and was situated east of Wymondham station and west of Hethersett station. The line ran from Ely to Trowse. The link into Norwich was delayed due to the need to build a bridge over the River Wensum that kept the river navigable. One month before the N&BR opened, a Bill authorising the amalgamation of the Yarmouth & Norwich Railway with the N&BR came into effect and so Spink's Lane station became a Norfolk Railway asset.However, two stations in the relatively small Wymondham proved to be overkill, and Spink's Lane closed in November 1845 after only four months of operation. The station building was still extant in 1983 but had been demolished by 1986.Today Wymondham railway station is the town's sole station.

Wreningham is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It is situated some 3 miles (4.8 km) south east of Wymondham and 9 miles (14 km) south west of Norwich.[1]The civil parish has an area of 6.24 square kilometres and in 2001 had a population of 493 in 199 households, the population increasing to 528 at the 2011 Census For the purposes of local government, the parish falls within the district of South Norfolk.[2]From 1808 to 1814 Wreningham hosted a station in the shutter telegraph chain which connected the Admiralty in London to its naval ships in the port of Great Yarmouth.Superstitions Wreningham, allegedly, got its name from the Witch and the Wren myth. The myth tells the story of a witch living in Wreningham who was discovered by the villagers. A knight then came to kill her and upon being attacked she transformed herself into a wren to escape safely; in response the villagers beat the bushes with sticks and caught and burnt any wrens that flew out in an attempt to kill her. She supposedly returns to the village every St Stephen's Day, and traditionally the villagers would beat the hedges and burn any wrens they caught on this day.

Wymondham railway station is on the Breckland Line in the East of England, serving the market town of Wymondham, Norfolk. The line runs between Cambridge in the west and Norwich in the east. It is situated between Spooner Row and Norwich, 113 miles 72 chains (183.3 km) from London Liverpool Street via Ely. The station is managed by Greater Anglia, which also operates most of the services calling at the station. Some East Midlands Railway services also stop at Wymondham. Platform 2 has no disabled accessibility. Wymondham is also the junction of the Mid-Norfolk Railway, a heritage route to Dereham, although those services operate from a separate station named Wymondham Abbey which is approximately one mile from Wymondham. Wymondham was also once the junction of a branch line via Ashwellthorpe to Forncett.

Hethel is a small village in Norfolk, England, approximately five miles (8.0 km) south east of the market town of Wymondham, and approximately ten miles (16 km) south of the city of Norwich. According to the 2001 census, the Bracon Ash and Hethel parish covered an area of 9.84 km2 (3.80 sq mi) and had a population of 446 people within 171 households. The village gave its name to the former RAF Hethel bomber station, which has been the location of the Head Office and factory of Lotus Cars since the 1960s. The Lotus Cars test track uses sections of the old RAF Hethel runway. Hethel is noted for containing the oldest known living hawthorn tree in East Anglia and possibly in the United Kingdom (reputed to be more than 700 years old). Planted in the 13th century, "Hethel Old Thorn" (a specimen of Common Hawthorn, Crataegus monogyna)[1][2] is in the village churchyard, which is classified as the smallest reserve under the care of the British Wildlife Trusts partnership.[3]. The name 'Hethel' is derived from the older name 'Het Hill'.

Wymondham Junction railway station is a proposed railway station on the preserved heritage Mid-Norfolk Railway in the English county of Norfolk. The station is planned to be constructed just south of the adjacent Cemetery Lane level crossing close to the line's junction with the mainline Breckland Line. The proposed station site is near to the Breckland Line's Wymondham station, which is operated by Greater Anglia on the National Rail network, thus providing more convenient access for people wishing to visit the heritage railway than its current southern terminus, Wymondham Abbey.
