West Water Reservoir

The Pentland Hills are a range of hills southwest of Edinburgh, Scotland. The range is around twenty miles (thirty kilometres) in length, and runs southwest from Edinburgh towards Biggar and the upper Clydesdale.

Baddinsgill is a hamlet in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland. The Baddinsgill Reservoir is a few hundred metres north of the hamlet.

The Lyne Water is dammed to form the reservoir, not the Baddinsgill Burn, which joins the Lyne Water further south, below the reservoir. The earth dam was faced with concrete blocks. In time these eroded and they were capped with 100 millimetres (3.9 in) of tarmac.

West Linton has a long history, and holds an annual traditional festival called The Whipman Play.

Dolphinton is a village and parish in Lanarkshire, Scotland. It is located 7 miles (11 km) northeast of Biggar, 11 miles (18 km) northeast of Carstairs, 10 miles (16 km) southwest of Leadburn and 27 miles (43 km) southwest of Edinburgh, on the A702 road. The local manor belonged in the 12th century to Dolfin, elder brother of the first Earl of Dunbar. The estate was owned in various forms by the Brown family from the sixteenth till the nineteenth centuries, when it passed to the McKenzie family by marriage. The parish has an area of 3,581 acres (1,449 ha). It is bordered by the parishes of Linton and Kirkurd (Peeblesshire), Walston and Dunsyre.

West Cairn Hill is a hill in the Pentland Hills range of Scotland. With a height of 562 m (1,844 ft), it is the fifth highest elevation and lies on the western flank of the approximately 20 mi (32 km) long chain of hills.The border between the council areas of the Scottish Borders and West Lothian runs over the knoll. The closest settlement is the hamlet of Carlops around six kilometers to the southeast. West Calder is nine kilometers to the northwest and Penicuik is eleven kilometers to the east. The Cauldstane Slap pass runs at the saddle point between West and East Cairn Hill. The surrounding hills include Colzium Hill and Torweaving Hill in the southwest, East Cairn Hill in the northeast, and Wether Law in the east.

The East Cairn Hill has two knolls, of which the higher one is on the east side and the 561 m (1,841 ft) high side knoll is 800 m (2,600 ft) to the west.The borders of three council areas, Scottish Borders, West Lothian and Edinburgh meet at the top. The East Cairn Hill marks both the southernmost extension of the Edinburgh region and the easternmost point of West Lothian.
